As a child, did you ever hold the tail of a cow to keep it from switching across your Dad's face while he was milking? Were you fortunate enough to sit around a wood stove in the wintertime and hear stories told by your parents? Do your recollections include relishing the cramped round galvanized tub for a once a week warm bath? Were you ever blessed with the joy of an unexpected, genuine store-bought gift? I would be pleased if you'd join me as I wander through those and other memories of my childhood on a farm in Maine in 1940's.

A HOUSTON WRITERS GUILD Manuscript AWARD WINNER In this best seller suspense thriller, the privileged suburban moms of Farhaven amuse themselves by Googling everyone in town, digging up dirt to fuel thorny gossip. Caroline Thompson, devoted mother of two, sticks to the moral high ground and attempts to avoid these women. She’s relieved to hear her name appears only three times, citing her philanthropy. Memory Lane by Talented Evans Pdf

I was adopted so young I barely remember it. Although it was by blood relatives, I grew up in a loveless home with people who abused me mentally, physically, and emotionally. Too young to know how to deal with my emotions, I began to act out. By the age of twelve, I was drinking, drugging, and smoking cigarettes. Staying in trouble became normal. I had become just as toxic as my environment. That caused me to carry a lot of baggage to college with me. There I met my first husband and my children's father. From infidelity to prison, this had to be the pettiest relationship I have ever seen or been in. The thirteen long years of heavy drinking, drugging, and domestic violence were a bad atmosphere for our girls. We were creating more damaged goods. Once I decided to leave my train wreck of a marriage, I found the divorce to be as messy and complicated. Situations like this have a way of exposing the fake people in your life. It lets you know who is for you and who has secretly been against you. The moment I decided to do what I felt was best for me and my girls, the ridicule began, and it was relentless. I was immediately a bad mother. I had to stand my ground and defend the decisions I made. I had to show my so-called family and friends I was strong enough to stand alone. I never really had a family, just a bunch of relatives. I never had many friends, just true frenemies. It was me against the world, and I was ready for battle. After the divorce was final and I was kid-free, my drinking, drugging, and partying spiraled out of control. This led me to people who helped me turn things around. Regardless of how bad things got, my club brothers never turned their backs on me. That's why joining a motorcycle club was one of the best decisions I ever made. It didn't hurt that when I met the sergeant at arms, I wanted one hot night with him. However, after I got to know him, I wanted him all to myself. We started as best friends, and our relationship was solid. It was definitely tested. From my children returning home, my multiple arrests, and my bad relationship with his family. Through it all, he had my back. I had spent the majority of my life masking. Riddled with addictions to stealing, food, alcohol, drugs, sex, money, and gambling, I had a lot of self-reflecting and growing to do. All this was made possible with a stretch in the penitentiary. I had to start with separating religion and spirituality. Religion was forced on me. It was time for me to decide. My physical being may have been trapped in a cage, but my mental stability was far worse. I needed to free myself and my mentality from bondage and truly begin to heal and grow. My life may have been an uphill battle, but I made it to the top, a much-better Mz. Talented.

What It Means to Write by Adrian McKerracher Pdf

At a time when people must work harder than ever to stand out from the crowd, the word creativity can seem vague and overused. But what exactly is creativity? Adrian McKerracher travels from Vancouver to Havana to Buenos Aires, leading readers on a journey to discover poignant new insights into a life of letters. Through encounters with artists of all kinds, famous or obscure, McKerracher traces a socio-cultural history of the meaning of writing, each vignette a meditation on the way that metaphor limits and liberates understanding: creativity is a process, a possession, a relation, an algorithm, a game, and more. But What It Means to Write is far more than an archive of the figurative. Along the way, a labyrinth of chance reunites McKerracher with old friends, threatens him with violence, and invites him to remain forever in a place both real and imagined. His journey from cafés to libraries to late-night living rooms embodies the structure of a bold new methodology for interpreting creativity, demonstrating the tools for working productively with ambiguity and rebuilding meaning, one metaphor at a time. Told in character-driven narrative pulses that reflect on the nature of belonging, understanding, and loving, What It Means to Write is a celebration of the possibilities of both language and silence.

Memory Lane by Judy K. Walker Pdf

They should have left well enough alone. Florida PI Sydney Brennan needs a break. She just finished an intense week on the road, on the heels of a case that fundamentally changed her life. And nearly got her killed. That’s why an exhausted Sydney is doing her best to pass out in her favorite bar (no booze required) when her world tilts on its axis again. Someone she hasn’t seen in more than fifteen years walks through the door, and he asks her to take a little trip with him. Their journey starts out as a simple one—I just need to see her; she doesn’t even have to know we’re there—but soon they are tangled in a web of secrets and lies, threats and accusations. And the one person they wanted above all else to keep safe is suddenly in jeopardy. Because there is nothing more complicated—and dangerous—than finally facing the past. Memory Lane is the eighth installment in the Sydney Brennan PI Mysteries, featuring the Florida private investigator with a knack for getting into trouble who doesn’t know when to quit. These books stand alone but are best enjoyed in order, starting with Back to Lazarus. Please don’t read this book if you haven’t read Grave Truth. You won’t have trouble following the story, but Memory Lane’s entire premise is a big spoiler for Grave Truth, and no one wants that.
