Instead of considering the drugs in alphabetic order, as in previous editions, he has thought it best in the present revision to classify them according to their pharma cologie action. Although in the present unsettled state of pharmacology such a classification must necessarily be a very imperfect one, it has seemed to the author to possess, notwith standing its imperfections, certain advantages in that it aids the student to correlate established facts and to apply them more readily to the treatment of disease.
