MOS Switched-Capacitor and Continuous-Time Integrated Circuits and Systems by Rolf Unbehauen,Andrzej Cichocki Pdf

The purpose of this book is to present analysis and design principles, procedures and techniques of analog integrated circuits which are to be implemented in MOS (metal oxide semiconductor) technology. MOS technology is becoming dominant in the realization of digital systems, and its use for analog circuits opens new pos sibilities for the design of complex mixed analog/digital VLSI (very large scale in tegration) chips. Although we are focusing attention in this book principally on circuits and systems which can be implemented in CMOS technology, many con siderations and structures are of a general nature and can be adapted to other promising and emerging technologies, namely GaAs (Gallium Arsenide) and BI MOS (bipolar MOS, i. e. circuits which combine both bipolar and CMOS devices) technology. Moreover, some of the structures and circuits described in this book can also be useful without integration. In this book we describe two large classes of analog integrated circuits: • switched capacitor (SC) networks, • continuous-time CMOS (unswitched) circuits. SC networks are sampled-data systems in which electric charges are transferred from one point to another at regular discrete intervals of time and thus the signal samples are stored and processed. Other circuits belonging to this class of sampled-data systems are charge transfer devices (CTD) and charge coupled dev ices (CCD). In contrast to SC circuits, continuous-time CMOS circuits operate continuously in time. They can be considered as subcircuits or building blocks (e. g.

Switched Capacitor Circuits by Phillip E. Allen Pdf

The objective of the book is to provide sufficient background and understand ing to enable its readers to design and apply switched capacitor circuits whether these are to be implemented as discrete circuits or by MOS technol ogy. Since this is the first book devoted entirely to the subject of switched capacitor circuits, it has no pattern to follow. Fortunately, it was developed in an environment where many of the circuits and concepts it discusses could actually be integrated as MOS integrated circuits. It is hoped that this environ ment has created a selection process that has enhanced the contents. Switched capacitor circuits provide an example of the influence that technol ogy can have on the field of electrical engineering. Only seven years ago, the problem of building analog circuits and systems using standard MOS technology was still unsolved. Although analog circuits and systems were implemented by means of integrated circuit technology, they were neither economical nor competitive. The act of combining analog sampled data tech niques with MOS technology has solved this difficulty. As a result, the field of switched capacitor circuits has developed into maturity in a relatively short period of time.

CRC Handbook of Electrical Filters by John Taylor,Qiuting Huang Pdf

Interest in filter theory and design has been growing with the telecommunications industry since the late nineteenth century. Now that telecommunications has become so critical to industry, filter research has assumed even greater importance at companies and academic institutions around the world. The CRC Handbook of Electrical Filters fills in the gaps for engineers and scientists who need a basic introduction to the subject. Unlike the currently available textbooks, which are filled with detailed, highly technical analysis geared to the specialist, this practical guide provides useful information for the non-specialist about the various types of filters, their design, and applications. The handbook covers approximation theory and methods and introduces CAD packages that perform approximation and synthesis for both analog and digital filters. Also included are design methods for LCR, active-RC, digital, mechanical, and switched capacitor (SC) filters. A thorough survey of current design trends rounds out this complete assessment of a key field of study.

Passive, Active, and Digital Filters by Wai-Kai Chen Pdf

Upon its initial publication, The Circuits and Filters Handbook broke new ground. It quickly became the resource for comprehensive coverage of issues and practical information that can be put to immediate use. Not content to rest on his laurels, in addition to updating the second edition, editor Wai-Kai Chen divided it into tightly-focused texts that made the information easily accessible and digestible. These texts have been revised, updated, and expanded so that they continue to provide solid coverage of standard practices and enlightened perspectives on new and emerging techniques. Passive, Active, and Digital Filters provides an introduction to the characteristics of analog filters and a review of the design process and the tasks that need to be undertaken to translate a set of filter specifications into a working prototype. Highlights include discussions of the passive cascade synthesis and the synthesis of LCM and RC one-port networks; a summary of two-port synthesis by ladder development; a comparison of the cascade approach, the multiple-loop feedback topology, and ladder simulations; an examination of four types of finite wordlength effects; and coverage of methods for designing two-dimensional finite-extent impulse response (FIR) discrete-time filters. The book includes coverage of the basic building blocks involved in low- and high-order filters, limitations and practical design considerations, and a brief discussion of low-voltage circuit design. Revised Chapters: Sensitivity and Selectivity Switched-Capacitor Filters FIR Filters IIR Filters VLSI Implementation of Digital Filters Two-Dimensional FIR Filters Additional Chapters: 1-D Multirate Filter Banks Directional Filter Banks Nonlinear Filtering Using Statistical Signal Models Nonlinear Filtering for Image Denoising Video Demosaicking Filters This volume will undoubtedly take its place as the engineer's first choice in looking for solutions to problems encountered when designing filters.

Chaotic Electronics in Telecommunications by Michael Kennedy,Riccardo Rovatti,Gianluca Setti Pdf

At the code level, discrete-time chaotic systems can be used to generate spreading codes for DS-SS systems. At the signal level, continuous-time chaotic systems can be used to generate wideband carriers for digital modulation schemes. The potential of chaos engineering is now recognized worldwide, with research groups actively pursuing the exploitation of chaotic phenomena in cryptography, spread spectrum communications, electromagnetic interference reduction, and many other applications. Although some noteworthy results have already been achieved, until now, the field has lacked both a systematic treatment of these developments and a careful, quantitative comparison of chaos-based and conventional techniques. Chaotic Electronics in Telecommunications fills both of those needs. It addresses the use of chaos in digital communications applications, from the coding level to circuit design. Each chapter offers a formal exposition of the theoretical and engineering tools needed to apply chaos, followed by discussion of the algorithms and circuits needed to apply the theory to real-world communications systems.

Feedback, Nonlinear, and Distributed Circuits by Wai-Kai Chen Pdf

Upon its initial publication, the Handbook of Circuits and Filters broke new ground. It quickly became the resource for comprehensive coverage of issues and practical information that can be put to immediate use. Not content to rest on his laurels, editor Wai-kai Chen divided the second edition into volumes, making the information easily accessible and digestible. In the third edition, these volumes have been revised, updated, and expanded so that they continue to provide solid coverage of standard practices and enlightened perspectives on new and emerging techniques. Feedback, Nonlinear, and Distributed Circuits draws together international contributors who discuss feedback amplifier theory and then move on to explore feedback amplifier configurations. They develop Bode’s feedback theory as an example of general feedback theory. The coverage then moves on to the importance of complementing numerical analysis with qualitative analysis to get a global picture of a circuit’s performance. After reviewing a wide range of approximation techniques and circuit design styles for discreet and monolithic circuits, the book presents a comprehensive description of the use of piecewise-linear methods in modeling, analysis, and structural properties of nonlinear circuits highlighting the advantages. It describes the circuit modeling in the frequency domain of uniform MTL based on the Telegrapher’s equations and covers frequency and time domain experimental characterization techniques for uniform and nonuniform multiconductor structures. This volume will undoubtedly take its place as the engineer's first choice in looking for solutions to problems encountered in the analysis and behavior predictions of circuits and filters.
