Mothership 2012 by Adrienne M. Prince Pdf

Mothership 2012: Members of a soul group meet only in passing, but they share the same mission: To heal the delicate consciousness of Planet Earth (Gaia), and assist Her in assuming Her right place, as the Galactic Heart, Bride of Spirit. Preface: Samantha-El grew up on the ruined remains of Earth a century after an accidental Total Nuclear Exchange in 1999 killed billions of people and rendered most of the planet uninhabitable. A few thousand families had been able to evade the forced evacuation and followed their inner guidance to secluded safe zones, where they have been living ever since. Now, the ex-snack company Hydra Corp. wants to buy the planet as a whole and turn it into an enormous power station. To clear the way for construction, they are stepping up the brutal evictions. Samantha-El goes into a cellular memory regression, to figure out why the Galactic Council wants her, at only 15 years old, to be the first Council representative from Earth . . . and the one to broker her home planet's sale. Part One: The Immortal Alana Peters was raised in a meditation community in the 1970's, doing yoga, chanting, learning Sanskrit and studying the chakras. She was taught that “God Lives in You, As You,” and that all of life is a dance between the energies of God and Goddess. This didn't always make sense to her: If God and Goddess are so happy and in love, why is there still violence, grief and dissatisfaction on Earth? She decides after college graduation, that she will set out into the world, to see where Life guides her to be of service. But she never expected to meet the ACTUAL God. In Denver, Colorado. In Bed! But, Nico's not really a God. He's just a 5,000 year old Extraterrestrial teenager, trying to figure out how to make the world a better place. Even if it means killing off his wicked loved ones, one by one. The year was 1989 . . . The Shift had begun.

The 100 Greatest Bands of All Time [2 volumes] by David V. Moskowitz Pdf

This one-of-a-kind reference investigates the music and the musicians that set the popular trends of the last half century in America. Many rock fans have, at one time or another, ranked their favorite artists in order of talent, charisma, and musical influence on the world as they see it. In this same spirit, author and music historian David V. Moskowitz expands on the concept of "top ten" lists to provide a lineup of the best 100 musical groups from the past 60 years. Since the chosen bands are based on the author's personal taste, this two-volume set provokes discussion of which performers are included and why, offering insights into the surprising influences behind them. From the Everly Brothers, to the Ramones, to Public Enemy, the work covers a wide variety of styles and genres, clearly illustrating the connections between them. Entries focus on the group's history, touring, membership, major releases, selected discography, bibliography, and influence. Contributions from leading scholars in popular music shed light on derivative artists and underscore the overall impact of the performers on the music industry.

Beyond Buds by Ed Rosenthal Pdf

Beyond Buds is a handbook to the future of marijuana. Prohibition’s end has led to a technological revolution that’s generated powerful medicines and products containing almost zero carcinogens and little smoke. Marijuana icon Ed Rosenthal and leading cannabis reporter David Downs guide readers through the best new consumer products, and demonstrate how to make and use the safest, cleanest extracts. Beyond Buds details how award-winning artisans make hash and concentrates, and includes modern techniques utilizing dry ice and CO2. The book is a primer on making kief, water hash, tinctures, topicals, edibles, and other extracts from cannabis leaves, trim, and bud bits, and it goes on to explore and simplify the more exotic and trendy marijuana-infused products, such as butane hash oil (BHO), shatter, wax, and budder. More complex than lighting a joint, these innovative products call for new accessories — special pipes, dabbing tools, and vaporizers — all of which are reviewed and pictured in the book. Beyond Buds expands on Rosenthal’s previous book Ask Ed: Marijuana Gold — Trash to Stash. Completely updated with full-color photographs that are both “how-to” guides and eye candy, this book enables not only the health-conscious toker but also the bottom line–driven cultivator.

Mother Ship by Francesca Segal Pdf

`Heart-wrenching, heart-warming and heartfelt - Mother Ship is a beautifully crafted, warts-and-all love letter to our wonderful NHS' Adam Kay, author of This is Going to Hurt `Our greatest gift to one another is this: each woman here has been swept out by a riptide, pulled far from the current of normal motherhood. Apart and all together in this space, our odd craft, we are drawn back into the folds of the unremarkable.' After her identical twin girls are born ten weeks prematurely, Francesca Segal finds herself sitting vigil in the `mother ship' of neonatal intensive care, all romantic expectations of new parenthood obliterated. Her gripping diary of those months combines the tenderness of a love poem with the compulsive pace of a thriller. As each day brings a fresh challenge for her and her babies, Francesca makes a temporary life among a band of mothers who are vivid, fearless, and inspiring, taking care not only of their children but of one another. MOTHER SHIP is an intimate, raucous, sublime and electrifying memoir. It is a hymn to the sustaining power of women's friendships, and a loving celebration of the two small girls - and their mother - who defy the odds.

The Mother Ship by Douglas Maxwell Pdf

Eliot is 18 and under severe stress. There's no girlfriend in sight, his best mate has stopped swearing and his pregnant step-mum is even more stressed than he is.... and then, having got the call from outer space to say that The Mother Ship is leaving and coming to take him home, his disabled brother Gerry disappears. And it's all Eliot's fault. A riotous chase kicks off involving a love-lorn lifeguard, a policeman who believes in the existence of Klingons and a car that can turn into a boat. The Mother Ship is a fantastically funny new adventure about what it means to be young, to be different, or just to believe in something beyond the ordinary. The Mother Ship opened at the Birmingham Rep in February 2008 and was awarded the Brian Way Award for Best Play for Young People 2009.

Scale by E. Summerson Carr,Michael Lempert Pdf

A free ebook version of this title is available through Luminos, University of California Press’s Open Access publishing program for monographs. Visit www.luminosoa.org to learn more. Wherever we turn, we see diverse things scaled for us, from cities to economies, from history to love. We know scale by many names and through many familiar antinomies: local and global, micro and macroevents to name a few. Even the most critical among us often proceed with our analysis as if such scales were the ready-made platforms of social life, rather than asking how, why, and to what effect are scalar distinctions forged in the first place. How do scalar distinctions help actors and analysts alike make sense of and navigate their social worlds? What do these distinctions reveal and what do they conceal? How are scales construed and what effects do they have on the way those who abide by them think and act? This pathbreaking volume attends to the practical labor of scale-making and the communicative practices this labor requires. From an ethnographic perspective, the authors demonstrate that scale is practice and process before it becomes product, whether in the work of projecting the commons, claiming access to the big picture, or scaling the seriousness of a crime.

Bottleneckers by William Mellor,Dick M. Carpenter II Pdf

Bottlenecker (n): a person who advocates for the creation or perpetuation of government regulation, particularly an occupational license, to restrict entry into his or her occupation, thereby accruing an economic advantage without providing a benefit to consumers. The Left, Right, and Center all hate them: powerful special interests that use government power for their own private benefit. In an era when the Left hates “fat cats” and the Right despises “crony capitalists,” now there is an artful and memorable one-word pejorative they can both get behind: bottleneckers. A “bottlenecker” is anyone who uses government power to limit competition and thereby reap monopoly profits and other benefits. Bottleneckers work with politicians to constrict competition, entrepreneurial innovation, and opportunity. They thereby limit consumer choice; drive up consumer prices; and they support politicians who willingly overstep the constitutional limits of their powers to create, maintain, and expand these anticompetitive bottlenecks. The Institute for Justice’s new book Bottleneckers coins a new word in the American lexicon, and provides a rich history and well-researched examples of bottleneckers in one occupation after another—from alcohol distributors to taxicab cartels—pointing the way to positive reforms.

Linked Data for the Perplexed Librarian by Scott Carlson,Cory Lampert,Darnelle Melvin,Anne Washington Pdf

Linked data has become a punchline in certain circles of the GLAM (galleries, libraries, archives, and museums) community, derided as a much-hyped project that will ultimately never come to fruition. But the fact is, linked data is already happening now, evident in projects from Big Tech and the Wikimedia Foundation as well as the web pages of library service platforms. The goal of exposing cultural institutions’ records to the web is as important as ever—but for the non-technically minded, linked data can feel like a confusing morass of abstraction, jargon, and acronyms. Get conversant in linked data with this basic introduction from the Association of Library Collections and Technical Services (ALCTS). The book’s expert contributors summarize the origins of linked data, from early computers and the creation of the World Wide Web through RDF; walk readers through the practical, everyday side of creating, identifying, and representing semantically rich linked data using as an example the funk classic Mothership Connection album from the band Parliament; explain the concept of ontologies; explore such linked data projects as Open Graph, DBpedia, BIBFRAME, and Schema.org’s Bib Extension; offer suggested solo and group entry-level projects for linked data-curious librarians who wish to dive deeper; and provide a handy glossary and links to additional resources. This valuable primer on linked data will enable readers at any level of experience to get quickly up to speed on this important subject.
