Murphy's Law: The 26th Anniversary Edition by Arthur Bloch Pdf

For more than a quarter of a century, Murphy's Law has provided the last word on things going wrong. Positive thinking is all very fine when the world is treating you right, but when things go awry, it's Murphy's Law that comes up with the goods-the pithy revelations and undeniable truths that document our limitless potential for misplaced insight, hopeless wit, and pessimistic wisdom. This special anniversary collection features the best of Murphy's Law--plus new 21st-century entries proving that with advances in technology, even more can go wrong. For example: No matter what goes wrong, there is always somebody who knew it would. Anything is easier to take apart than to put together. For every action, there is an equal and opposite criticism. The less you do, the less can go wrong. Everybody lies, but it doesn't matter since nobody listens.

Tough Diagnosing, Murphy's Law, and the Trouble That Comes with Them by Mary Malone Pdf

This book is a synopsis of many medical stories. They include, but are not limited to rude personnel, kind personnel and many of the physical and emotional traumas that a patient and his or her family face during an illness. Illness is enough to deal with on its own, but as many find out the hard way, there can be so much more to contend with. Slow diagnosing, doubtful doctors and harsh criticism from those who are clueless are among some of the ordeals covered. It was difficult for me to live life outside of my chronic illness. My main symptom, or most obvious was fainting. I didn't think much of it at first. I knew it needed to be checked out, but thought it would be under control in little time. The surprises to me were outsiders who actually laughed when I dropped, adults as well as children: the most hurtful was the handful of family and friends who thought I was faking. I can't imagine judging any of them in that way. I hope this book touches the lives of those who read it no matter if you are the care giver or the patient or just an innocent bystander.

A History of Murphy's Law by Nick T. Spark Pdf

Murphy's Law is one of the most well-recognized statements of philosophy known to man. Tipped off by his next door neighbor that Murphy may have worked at Edwards Air Force Base, and that the Law may have come into being after a rocket sled experiment went awry, author Nick T. Spark beings a Quixotic quest to learn the truth. His attempts to pin down the mysterious origins of The Law and to answer the eternal question, "Who was Murphy and what is the true meaning of Murphy's Law?" are both amusing and relevatory. Read it, and find out why everything you ever thought you knew about Murphy's Law -- is wrong.

Doctors Disciplined by Jakob Schneider Pdf

"Doctors Disciplined" examines how Austrian office-based public general practitioners (GPs) are affected by the administrative governance of Austria's public health insurance. The introduction of electronic medical records (EMRs) has resulted in unprecedented changes for GPs' interactions with the insurance, patients, and peers. This book draws on concepts of disciplinary power and McDonaldization to shows that working with EMRs creates unique capacities for monitoring GPs' daily activities. These capacities affect the traditional freelance character of the profession immensely.

Breaking Murphy's Law by Suzanne C. Segerstrom Pdf

Pollyannas take heart, pessimists take note: Recent studies on achievement and well-being show that optimistic behavior contributes to better physical health, greater resilience in the face of life’s twists and turns, and more satisfying relationships. As psychologists Suzanne Segerstrom reveals, optimists lay groundwork for the success they envision. While the rest of us worry whether our goals are attainable, those who practice optimism try to achieve theirs. Breaking Murphy’s Law shows you simple ways to develop the skills that natural-born optimists use to get what they want from life. Dr. Segerstrom helps you break free from the inertia of cynicism and self-doubt and encourages you to engage the world around you. “Doing optimism”--by getting involved, working hard, and enjoying your achievements--establishes a positive feedback loop that’s both personally transformative and self-perpetuating. This practical book imparts the lesson with a mix of humor and intelligence that will convince even the most hardened cynics that Murphy got it wrong.

The Batting Doctor's Cricket Wisdom by The Batting Doctor Pdf

With 50 years of passionate involvement in cricket; extensive effort to constantly understand and improve what I do; insightful exploration of such things as ancient Chinese and Japanese texts as well as modern psychology concepts, I have developed my own philosophies and ways of doing things in cricket. Many of these ways are unique to me and opposite to conventional instruction. Whilst my hearing, memory and physical condition are all in decline, the satisfaction gained from understanding what motivates and can improve an individual remains a major source of inspiration. Often I have observed people with extraordinary talent give up just short of what they could achieve, yet others with less talent, but with an indomitable spirit continue on and reap the rewards of success. Why does this happen? We simply have not been educated in how to harness and use our thinking minds wisely. The result is that our efforts in life are often hit or miss. Importantly the WISDOM contained in my book, can help my readers better identify, connect with and meet the challenges that their involvement in cricket will bring.

Murphy's Laws of the Inner Life by Michael William Murphy Pdf

In his 40-year quest for truth and inner peace, Michael Murphy ranges from a Roman Catholic seminary in New York to a Shiva temple in Southern India. He rises to a respected position in an international meditation organization while living a double life in which he explores numerous other teachers and paths. Through it all he struggles with one of the greatest tests (and teachers) on the path of the seeker: living in intimate relationship with another human being. This book is more than a spiritual memoir, however. In writing it Murphy, who has taught writing for a decade, explores a new method for using writing itself as a technique for spiritual unfoldment. He details this technique in his introduction and offers the rest of the book as a model for those who wish to uncover their own deepest truths through the writing process. His own deepest truths-uncovered through this process-punctuate the chapters as "Murphy's Laws."
