Brothers Forever by Tom Sileo,Tom Manion Pdf

Four weeks after Navy SEALs had killed Osama bin Laden, President Obama stood in Arlington National Cemetery to deliver his Memorial Day address. He extolled the heroism and sacrifice of the two men buried side by side in the graves before him: Travis Manion, a fallen US Marine, and Brendan Looney, a fallen US Navy SEAL. Although they were killed three years apart, one in Iraq and one in Afghanistan, these two former roommates and best friends were now buried together—“brothers forever.” Award-winning journalist Tom Sileo and Travis's father, Colonel Tom Manion, USMCR (Ret.), tell the intimate and personal story of how these Naval Academy roommates defined a generation's sacrifice in Afghanistan and Iraq. From Travis's incredible bravery on the streets of Fallujah to Brendan's anguished SEAL training in the wake of his friend's death and later acts of heroism in the mountains of Afghanistan, Brothers Forever is a remarkable story of war and friendship.

My Brother Stevie: A Marine's Untold Story by Marianne Kelsey Orestis Pdf

Lieutenant Straughan Downing Kelsey, Jr. was my only and older brother. He was the family's Protector. When he was Killed In Action, June 2, 1967 in Quang Tin Province, Vietnam the family died with him. My younger sister and I survive. We are all that is left of a once glorious family. I wish that the gifts the Lord blessed him with will not be forgotten nor his courage, valor and compassion. He was a gifted athlete, artist, musician and intellect. He graduated from Princeton University in June of 1965 and entered the Marine Corps almost immediately. It was his lifelong dream. This book is his story and legacy. It is the story of the times he lived in when America went from watching Howdy Doody to civil rights race riots and war at home and Vietnam. America lost her innocence but Stevie never wavered in his devotion to his country and the Marine Corps. Press Release: My Brother Stevie: A Marine's Untold Story: Vietnam 1967 By Marianne Kelsey Orestis In recognition of her book, My Brother Stevie: A Marine's Untold Story: Vietnam 1967 and tireless work in promoting patriotism while honoring the sacrifice and service of all Veterans and their families, The Department of Defense recently awarded Authorhouse author, Marianne Kelsey Orestis, the prestigious Vietnam War Commemoration Award. My Brother's Keeper: Poems of the Vietnam war by Marine Cpl. Rod Padilla by Rodwick Padilla Pdf

All war is horrific and life-altering. Most of those who do the fighting are unable to speak about it openly. But the act of sharing their experience with others can be life-affirming. These are the raw war poems of Vietnam veteran Marine Cpl. Rod Padilla. They are a spontaneous outpouring of his battlefield experience years after the event. The voice is authentic. The poems are unedited. It is hoped that the publication of this book may help alleviate the suffering of others. A sense of the emotional depth and immediacy of the poems is best illustrated by this wall rubbing of the name of Rod Padilla’s fallen brother from the Vietnam veteran’s war memorial. Rod Padilla lives in Montara, California with his wife and family. He recently retired from a long career in youth education, and now spends much of his time in veteran affairs and community service. His hobby is rebuilding vintage muscle cars.

Unworthy, Chosen, and Forgiven by Michael Gilcreast Pdf

I thought long and hard before I even imagined to write any book, but somehow people just kept telling me to write a book out of the blue. I started to write, and nothing came of it for over ten years. I have only made it to page 44 of my manuscript. My biggest question, which led to my real motivation to write, was "How can different people from different states I visited kept telling me the same thing? Could they all be wrong?" It was in March 2020, everything was shut down, I was in attendance at the AFFI mini-convention in Maryland, and it was closed down by the governor. Therefore, from all points in my life, God made sure that I would write. I was out of excuses and I just encouraged myself to write the movie-like book of my life. I have done many one-on-one, premarital, marriage pastoral feedback sessions, inside and outside the church. I only came to find out in some way, shape, or form that people have problems of sorts that were similar to my own. I think of myself as an unorthodox writer and now pastor/author that loves the truth with the desire to be a help for people. I now see a new parallel that was within me all along because my first passion was to become a doctor, so I could help people. More than half of my life have either been in the Air Force or working for the Department of Defense at the Pentagon in some type of full-time capacity. I even survived the war act of September 11 (911)! Yet I have a story to tell, starting from a dysfunctional family to chasing women, becoming a womanizer, stories of infidelity, unemployment, lying, stealing, divorce, bad credit, bankruptcy, gambling, and even several attempts to commit suicide! If the truth be told, I never thought that I would live past the age of thirty-five! While I thought that I was unworthy, I found out that God had chosen me to live again and to tell my story and to be the pastor that I am today! I was truly a lost soul! On this same path of my life, I have found redemption and a second chance to experience true and unconditional love in the form of Melody. A love that could have only been birthed by God's grace! Truly, my soul loves Jesus!

Underage and Under Fire by Allan C. Stover Pdf

This work tells the personal stories of boys and girls who left home and enlisted in the U.S. military at ages 11 to 16. Many had difficult home lives, some wanted adventure or a better future, but all wanted to serve their country. They missed high school proms, adolescent years with family and friends, homecoming parades, and graduation ceremonies. They served aboard ships and submarines, on airplanes, and at faraway bases and battlefields. Some became prisoners of war. Many performed above and beyond. Jack Lucas earned the Medal of Honor at Iwo Jima six days past his 17th birthday. Calvin Graham enlisted at age 12 and was wounded at Guadalcanal aboard the USS South Dakota. His story was made into a movie starring Rick Schroder. A 13-year-old girl enlisted but was later discovered and sent home from Europe. General Eisenhower told her, "Go home and grow up, little girl, we need more soldiers like you." One underage veteran became a senator, another, a governor, still another a Chief of Naval Operations. This book reveals why and how they got in, and what happened to them when they were there.

Three Wise Men by Beau Wise,Tom Sileo Pdf

From Beau Wise and Tom Sileo comes Three Wise Men, an incredible memoir of family, service and sacrifice by a Marine who lost both his brothers in combat—becoming the only "Sole Survivor" during the war in Afghanistan. Three Wise Men details the fate of three brothers intertwined when they voluntarily enlisted in defending their homeland after the devastating 9/11 attacks. Their extraordinary tale unfurls the severe toll of the Afghan war, particularly on a single family, underscoring the profound significance of the sacrifice and the indomitable resilience of a family's courage. While serving in Afghanistan, US Navy SEAL veteran and CIA contractor Jeremy Wise was killed in an al Qaeda suicide bombing that devastated the US intelligence community. Less than three years later, US Army Green Beret sniper Ben Wise was fatally wounded after volunteering for a dangerous assignment during a firefight with the Taliban. Ben was posthumously awarded the Silver Star, while Jeremy received the Intelligence Star—one of the rarest awards bestowed by the U.S. government—and also a star on the CIA’s Memorial Wall. The legacy of their sacrifice lives on in Beau Wise's account, the only “Sole Survivor” pulled from the battlefield, forging an enduring testament to the value of loyalty, service, and familial bonds.

Vampire’s Dilemma by Penny Ash,Roberta Rogow,Ellie Fleming,James A. Dibble,Rusty Goode,Laura Wise,Anne Phyllis Pinzow,Robyn Hugo McIntyre Pdf

Life doesn't stop being complicated just because you're dead. In the old days, vampires were sexy, ruthless, and evil. They could, and would, compel the living to do whatever they wanted. They owned the night. Unfortunately, being undead in modern times has unexpected and disturbing challenges. Now nine authors take an amused, and sometimes grim look at the problems some vampires face in the twenty-first century. In "Thin White Duke in Sneakers," a newly turned environmental activist and confirmed vegan has some serious issues with his politically incorrect vampire diet. Family life is disrupted in "Uncle Dmitri" when the police suddenly want to know what kindly Uncle Dmitri might be doing at night besides driving a cab. A young artist in "Take My Breath Away" desperately seeks a real vampire to turn her into an immortal only to discover she will still need to get a job to pay her rent. In "The Face on the Coin," unlife is complicated by obsession, a vampire ghost, and time travel. "Farmer" is a tale of the far-future where humans may well be hunted off the face of the Earth. "Sunrise Decision" is the compelling story of a young marine in Fallujah who can only stop a murderous predator by making his own, personal life and death decision. In "They Shall Take Up Serpents," a predatory Revivalist preacher is brought to justice by a vampire and a cage full of snakes. In "Sale Season," intrigue and vampire romance haunt the art galleries of Europe while "Cursed Blood" asks the eternal question: Do you always have to bite the one you love? These authors were inspired to write by various TV shows, from Star Trek, Forever Knight, Buffy the Vampire Slayer (& Angel) to White Collar, Burn Notice, Vampire Diaries, Being Human, etc. and have made the leap from fanfiction to professional writing. All these stories are original universes.
