My Journey To Freedom by Mattie Mullet Pdf

I hope this book helps clear up the general population's misconceptions and confusion about the Amish. I have read or heard things that aren't true, or even near the whole truth. This book is not written to harm anyone, but to provide information so that others might better understand how to help Amish people. There will be things written that don't apply to every community, but it's very real and true in the communities I lived in. I was born from generations of Amish and, at age 51, I did the unthinkable. I left everything I had ever known. That would've been impossible to do with all the shunning. If it hadn't been for my precious Jesus, I would have never found the strength to leave all that I'd ever known. Now it is my heart's sincere desire that everybody come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and experience the joy of salvation, and that includes my loved ones, the Amish.

I Refuse to Die by Koigi Wa Wamwere Pdf

An extraordinary account of how a laborer's son rose to challenge the power of despots, I Refuse to Die is both the autobiography of one gifted man who rose above the horrors of colonization, and an uncensored history of modern Kenya. The book is infused with the freedom songs of the Kenyan people, as well as dream prophecy and folk tales that are part of Kenya's rich storytelling tradition. Tracing the roots of the Mau Mau rebellion, wa Wamwere follows the evolution and degeneration of Jomo Kenyatta and the rise of Daniel arap Moi. In 1979, wa Wamwere won a seat in the parliament, where he represented the economically depressed Nakuru district for three years. An outspoken activist and journalist, wa Wamwere was framed and detained on three separate instances, spending thirteen years in prison, where he was tortured but not broken. His mother and others led a hunger strike to free him and fellow political prisoners. Their efforts brought about a show trial at which Koigi was sentenced to four more years in prison and "six strokes of the cane," and escaped Kenya—and probably execution—only through the exertions of human rights groups and the government of Norway.

MY JOURNEY IS REALFREEDOM by DUANEIS LIGHT Pdf

I was born to a farm girl from the northern most state in the US, Minnesota. My new mother was lying on the hospital bed making funny noises and looking up at the doctor, and trying to push my new little body out. I could sense that she had done a good job creating the body for me. I was actually viewing her from one side of the room, and at the same time moving back and forth from the little body inside of her as I was practicing my escape. I did not want to get caught in that little vehicle just yet, and so I was preparing it to loosen up. This NUBook is My Story coming into this life. You as the reader will learn a lot! Falling Into Freedom by Michael Doud Pdf

In the winter of 1989, on a windy cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, it hit me. I was deeply unhappy and had been for my entire 38 years. Looking down at the churning sea, I considered ending my life right there. My only other option was to change it, completely. Falling Into Freedom is the story of the crazy adventures that began after I stepped back from the cliff and set out in search of the wisdom that would set me free. My first act after I chose life over death was to throw away my old life. Downsized out of my job, I quit looking for a new one; sold my home; and lived for a time in my car. Freed from physical distractions, I reflected on my strict upbringing by salt-of-the-earth parents; my flirtation with academic disaster in high school; my impulsive decision to escape my perceived worthless life by joining the Army; my devastation after killing human beings in Vietnam; my fall into drug addiction to numb my pain, and the agony of going cold-turkey in a little hut assisted by a wise old woman. My search began by participating and leading personal growth seminars testing my relationship to fear. One exercise was a hands-free escape after being pinned down by a five-foot bamboo pole pressed across my neck by two strong men. Witnessing my will to live, I journeyed into an obscure bookstore and found books that taught me about how to look inwards for more answers. With this gained wisdom and a daily meditation practice, I learned how to forgive myself for killing; to not identify "self" through physical and mental attributes; to understand my attachment to possessions and personal identifiers like a job title; to let go of my attachments and aversions to everything; and to accept life as it is, not as I interpret it to be. The journey leads to an old monastery in England. There, three months of sitting in silence allowed me to lift the veil of illusion and see the world, and life, as it is.

God and Country: A True Story of My Journey through Indoctrination, Violence, and Jihad by Will Prentiss Pdf

Will Prentiss grew up in a broken home, struggling for guidance as a teenager, he moved in with his mother who was part of an Christian group. But he was subjected to violent abuse until he fled in fear of his life. Searching for meaning, still seeking his grounding through faith, he eventually found himself at a mosque and decided to become a Muslim. He became a strong advocate of his new community, married a Muslim woman, and faced discrimination after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. But when Muslim friends begin planning to go abroad to carry out jihad, he started working with the FBI. Although he felt compromised and conflicted, he took pride in knowing that he was protecting his community and serving his country-but that did not assuage the guilt he felt in betraying his community. Focused on themes such as morality, justice, and what it means to be an American, this account offers insights into a religion that is deeply misunderstood while sharing the true story of someone weighing the balance between faith and patriotism.

Mask Off by Tranise LaTonya McNeal,Catherine Hayes,Dontae T McNeal Pdf

Mask Off: A Journey to Freedom was birthed in 2020 during the pandemic. We lived in a time when wearing masks became the norm to protect us from the deadly effects of the Covid-19 virus. Masks became a necessity for our well-being. No longer did we recognize each other beyond our eyes. Hiding became easy. Like the pandemic, how long have we depended on invisible "masks" to cover what we don't want people to see spiritually? Pride, jealousy, fear, traumatic disorders, addiction, etc., are all examples of what we hide behind our "masks." Afraid of what people will say if they see the scars and wounds life has brought us. "Masks" not only hide, but they also hinder us from true freedom. This book unveils my journey to reaching and maintaining freedom with God's guidance. Every chapter will have you looking within yourself and challenging yourself to change. The "masks" you hide behind will surely come off. Are you ready to start your Journey to Freedom? Let's go!

In Peace and Freedom by Bernard LaFayette Jr.,Kathryn Lee Johnson Pdf

Bernard LaFayette Jr. (b. 1940) was a cofounder of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), a leader in the Nashville lunch counter sit-ins, a Freedom Rider, an associate of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), and the national coordinator of the Poor People's Campaign. At the young age of twenty-two, he assumed the directorship of the Alabama Voter Registration Project in Selma -- a city that had previously been removed from the organization's list due to the dangers of operating there. In this electrifying memoir, written with Kathryn Lee Johnson, LaFayette shares the inspiring story of his years in Selma. When he arrived in 1963, Selma was a small, quiet, rural town. By 1965, it had made its mark in history and was nationally recognized as a battleground in the fight for racial equality and the site of one of the most important victories for social change in our nation. LaFayette was one of the primary organizers of the 1965 Selma voting rights movement and the Selma-to-Montgomery marches, and he relates his experiences of these historic initiatives in close detail. Today, as the constitutionality of Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act is still questioned, citizens, students, and scholars alike will want to look to this book as a guide. Important, compelling, and powerful, In Peace and Freedom presents a necessary perspective on the civil rights movement in the 1960s from one of its greatest leaders.
