My Animal Friends Are My Teachers by Nancy Louise Taylor PhD Pdf

After a group of boys mistreated him, a young kitten ran and hid. He sat under a bush until he calmed down. He did not know what to do. As he started to nap, he realized there was a human who would help him. He looked around until he found her house. The young girl sat in her backyard. He cautiously walked up to the girl and climbed in her lap. The kitten needed her help, so he could learn to trust humans again and heal his wounds. He knew, as cats knew, that she needed his help to gain confidence in her ability to help animals, and he was to teach her how to trust herself. She named the cat Blackie. He helped her save some of the birds and other animals when they were injured. She helped Blackie recover from the injuries he received when he was in cat fights. The cat remained to be her support and companion during these adventures. When Blackie realized his time was finished, he waited until he knew the next cat was on the way. That cat became Natasha, and she changed everything.

My Friends, My Teachers: Life Changing Encounters with Disability by Ryan Wolfe Pdf

When you hear the word "Teachers" what is the first thing that comes to mind? Maybe it was a favorite teacher that you had while in school. Maybe it was the idea of a person that holds and imparts a specific type of knowledge. Or a person who has been given authority to teach because of the position they are in. Whatever came to mind you probably didn't think of someone who is affected by disability. That is because this is counter cultural to most of our worldviews. But the beauty of the Gospel is that God chooses what the world views as weak to do significant things, things like teaching others. My Friends, My Teachers is a truly unique book. It is a six-week small group devotional book that chronicles six unique stories about how encounters with disability changed people's lives. My Friends, My Teachers is a powerful book that could change your life too, if you are open to allowing God to teach you in ways you may have never considered before.

“MY HORSE, MY TEACHER, MY FRIEND” A Collection Of Life Lessons, Observations & Reflections From A Life With Horses. Volume 1 by Andree L Ralph Pdf

There is a well known saying that "when the student is ready, the teacher will appear" (Buddhist Proverb) - well, my teachers have appeared in the form of horses and continue to do so. Anyone who has spent any length of time around horses cannot have failed to have observed some of the profound lessons they are able to teach us. The question however, is whether we have actually learnt from them! Inside the covers of this book, you will find some of those lessons that I am now sharing with you so that their legacy can grow and 'ripple' outwards. There have been so many lessons but these are some of the most important. They are presented through pictures, thoughts and observations, including those given to me by our horses and ponies and also through some of the journal and blog entries I have made to illustrate the lesson. They are not in any particular order and can be read as a kind of 'journey' as we have experienced them or as individual gifts of motivation and learning; whichever suits you.

Friends and Teachers by James Hayes Pdf

Prompted by the Chinese saying, 'When I walk along with two others, I am bound to be able to learn from them', the title of this memoir reflects the author's close association with the local people through his work and leisure interests, and his consuming desire to learn as much as he could about their history and culture. The book covers several decades of Hong Kong's recent past, from the time James Hayes joined the Administrative Grade of the Hong Kong Civil Service in the 1950s to his retirement in the 1980s, thirty-two years later. Spending practically his whole career in departments rather than in the central Secretariat, serving in posts that brought him into direct contact with the public, we follow him as a young cadet fresh from language school to his first posting in the District Administration, New Territories, through all of his varied assignments to his final post between 1985-87, when he again served in a very changed New Territories in charge of an equally altered District Administration. James Hayes is also a scholar, known for his books on the Hong Kong region and its people, with a Ph.D. from London University and an Honorary Doctorate of Letters bestowed by the University of Hong Kong in 1992. In this, his latest work, he gives an engaging first-hand account of what it was like to be an expatriate government officer in an ever-changing Hong Kong, paying particular attention to the government and people relationship over that time, and its transformation over the years.

Teaching Materials and the Roles of EFL/ESL Teachers by Ian McGrath Pdf

Teaching Materials and the Roles of EFL/ESL Teachers is published amidst a decade long increase in academic publications and training courses concerned with the evaluation and design of English language teaching materials. It is timely to consider what effect the advice on offer has had on teachers' practice. Are teachers evaluating materials carefully, using textbooks in the ways expected by textbook writers, developing their own materials, and mediating between materials and learners in the ways advised in the professional literature? The book explores these issues from a variety of perspectives. The views of publishers/textbook writers, those contributing to the professional literature, and teacher educators are synthesised to establish a 'theory' of how teachers can best fulfil their roles vis-à-vis materials and learners. This is then compared with 'practice', as represented by published accounts of teachers' actual practices and learners' perspectives. The conclusion reached is that teacher education in materials evaluation and design is essential and suggestions are offered as to the form this might take. The book is intended particularly for MA students and teacher educators concerned with materials evaluation and design, but is of interest to all those concerned with the publication and use of English language teaching materials.
