Artificial Intelligence for Accurate Analysis and Detection of Autism Spectrum Disorder by Kautish, Sandeep,Dhiman, Gaurav Pdf

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is known as a neuro-disorder in which a person may face problems in interaction and communication with people, amongst other challenges. As per medical experts, ASD can be diagnosed at any stage or age but is often noticeable within the first two years of life. If caught early enough, therapies and services can be provided at this early stage instead of waiting until it is too late. ASD occurrences appear to have increased over the last couple of years leading to the need for more research in the field. It is crucial to provide researchers and clinicians with the most up-to-date information on the clinical features, etiopathogenesis, and therapeutic strategies for patients as well as to shed light on the other psychiatric conditions often associated with ASD. In addition, it is equally important to understand how to detect ASD in individuals for accurate diagnosing and early detection. Artificial Intelligence for Accurate Analysis and Detection of Autism Spectrum Disorder discusses the early detection and diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder enabled by artificial intelligence technologies, applications, and therapies. This book will focus on the early diagnosis of ASD through artificial intelligence, such as deep learning and machine learning algorithms, for confirming diagnosis or suggesting the need for further evaluation of individuals. The chapters will also discuss the use of artificial intelligence technologies, such as medical robots, for enhancing the communication skills and the social and emotional skills of children who have been diagnosed with ASD. This book is ideally intended for IT specialists, data scientists, academicians, scholars, researchers, policymakers, medical practitioners, and students interested in how artificial intelligence is impacting the diagnosis and treatment of autism spectrum disorder.

Handbook of Deep Learning in Biomedical Engineering by Valentina Emilia Balas,Brojo Kishore Mishra,Raghvendra Kumar Pdf

Deep Learning (DL) is a method of machine learning, running over Artificial Neural Networks, that uses multiple layers to extract high-level features from large amounts of raw data. Deep Learning methods apply levels of learning to transform input data into more abstract and composite information. Handbook for Deep Learning in Biomedical Engineering: Techniques and Applications gives readers a complete overview of the essential concepts of Deep Learning and its applications in the field of Biomedical Engineering. Deep learning has been rapidly developed in recent years, in terms of both methodological constructs and practical applications. Deep Learning provides computational models of multiple processing layers to learn and represent data with higher levels of abstraction. It is able to implicitly capture intricate structures of large-scale data and is ideally suited to many of the hardware architectures that are currently available. The ever-expanding amount of data that can be gathered through biomedical and clinical information sensing devices necessitates the development of machine learning and AI techniques such as Deep Learning and Convolutional Neural Networks to process and evaluate the data. Some examples of biomedical and clinical sensing devices that use Deep Learning include: Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Ultrasound, Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT), Positron Emission Tomography (PET), Magnetic Particle Imaging, EE/MEG, Optical Microscopy and Tomography, Photoacoustic Tomography, Electron Tomography, and Atomic Force Microscopy. Handbook for Deep Learning in Biomedical Engineering: Techniques and Applications provides the most complete coverage of Deep Learning applications in biomedical engineering available, including detailed real-world applications in areas such as computational neuroscience, neuroimaging, data fusion, medical image processing, neurological disorder diagnosis for diseases such as Alzheimer’s, ADHD, and ASD, tumor prediction, as well as translational multimodal imaging analysis. Autism by Gregory R. Bock,Jamie A. Goode Pdf

This book draws together contributions from some of the leading investigators in the field of autism to consider specific problem areas in current research. Each contributor brings expertise from a different field, providing a balanced view of the whole spectrum of study of this disorder. It covers four main areas: Twin and family studies indicate that the heritability of the underlying liability to autism exceeds 90% and point to a multifactorial causation, involving a relatively small number of susceptibility genes. The book discusses this issue in detail, along with the problem of why some additional symptoms are associated with autism while others are not. New techniques are available for examining the neurobiology of autism. The book contains results from imaging studies showing the contributions of different brain regions to autism. It includes neuropathological data and examines the neuropharmacology of autism. There is considerable discussion concerning the fundamental psychological deficit in children with autism. There is good evidence that "Theory of Mind" deficits are associated with autism and this issue is discussed in the book, as are other competing possibilities. The most important practical question facing medical and psychological practitioners is how to help children with autism. The evidence relating to possible psychological or psychiatric interventions for rehabilitation of children with autism is examined in detail. Drug treatments have generally been disappointing in this field and there is one chapter devoted specifically to this problem. The book focusses ultimately on intervention studies and so is of practical relevance to people interested in helping autistic children. In addition, it provides a very convenient summary of the principal controversies which currently exist in research on autism.

Advanced Neuroimaging Methods for Studying Autism Disorder by Alessandro Grecucci,Roma Siugzdaite,Remo Job Pdf

In the last twenty years, many attempts have been made to provide neurobiological models of autism. Functional, structural and connectivity analyses have highlighted reduced responses in key social areas, such as amygdala, medial prefrontal cortex, cingulate cortex, and superior temporal sulcus. However, these studies present discrepant results and some of them have been questioned for methodological limitations. The aim of this research topic is to present advanced neuroimaging methods able to capture the complexity of the neural deficits displayed in autism. This special issue presents new studies using structural and functional MRI, as well as magnetoencephalography, and novel protocols to analyze data (Analysis of Cluster Variability, Noise Reduction Strategies, Source-based Morphometry, Functional Connectivity Density, Restriction Spectrum Imaging and the others). We believe it is time to integrate data provided by different techniques and methodologies in order to have a better understanding of autism.
