New Covenant, New Glory by Ken Legg Pdf

A covenant: an arrangement placed between two parties for the purpose of establishing a relationship between them. So, what has God placed as the basis of our relationship with Him? On what grounds are we accepted and blessed by God? Many Christians are still trying to relate to God on the basis of a covenant that no longer exists! But they no longer need to struggle and labour under condemnation. Under the new covenant, believers are heirs to untold spiritual riches!Yet, being ignorant of our God-given inheritance will mean that, though rich, we will live in spiritual poverty. New Covenant, New Glory will help set you free from old covenant thinking which tries to get you to pay for that which has been freely given to you by grace. The glory of the old covenant was a fading glory. In contrast, the glory of the new covenant gets brighter and brighter. Wherever you might be in your Christian walk, there is still more glory.

Irresistible by Andy Stanley Pdf

A fresh look at the earliest Christian movement reveals what made the new faith so compelling...and what we need to change today to make it so again. Once upon a time there was a version of the Christian faith that was practically irresistible. After all, what could be more so than the gospel that Jesus ushered in? Why, then, isn't it the same with Christianity today? Author and pastor Andy Stanley is deeply concerned with the present-day church and its future. He believes that many of the solutions to our issues can be found by investigating our roots. In Irresistible, Andy chronicles what made the early Jesus Movement so compelling, resilient, and irresistible by answering these questions: What did first-century Christians know that we don't—about God's Word, about their lives, about love? What did they do that we're not doing? What makes Christianity so resistible in today's culture? What needs to change in order to repeat the growth our faith had at its beginning? Many people who leave or disparage the faith cite reasons that have less to do with Jesus than with the conduct of his followers. It's time to hit pause and consider the faith modeled by our first-century brothers and sisters who had no official Bible, no status, and little chance of survival. It's time to embrace the version of faith that initiated—against all human odds—a chain of events resulting in the most significant and extensive cultural transformation the world has ever seen. This is a version of Christianity we must remember and re-embrace if we want to be salt and light in an increasingly savorless and dark world.

The Glory and the Covenants by Owen Bandy Pdf

One of the most misunderstood concepts of the Bible among Christians of all faiths is that of the old and new covenants. For decades, if not for centuries, Bible scholars and commentators have spoken of the meaning of these covenants in a general way and thus with no particular appeal. The problem has been that many of the explanations have grown out of a desire to prop up some cherished theological position. Thus the terms 'old covenant" and "new covenant" have become mere cliches that we use and hear, with no clear certainty about what they really mean. If you want to look directly at the nature of the covenants themselves, and find out what they actually are, The Glory and the Covenants is meant for you. Many ideas regarding the covenants held by Christians are vague and meaningless. When asked what the two covenants are, most people fumble for words unable to give a solid Biblical description. Usually there is some indistinct notion about the old covenant being for Jews and the new covenant being for Christians and that's where it stays. However no one seems to know just where in the Bible it says that. The Theologian and Apostle Paul, of Jewish and Christian heritage, is the one Bible writer to give the most detailed explanations of the covenants. Do you know the two foundational stories in the Old Testament that Paul uses as a foundation for his understanding of the two covenants? Can you give at least three illustrations from real life that Paul uses to depict the characteristics of the two covenants? Do you know just what characteristics someone will have in their life if they are trying to live under the old or new covenant? If you hesitated when thinking of answers to these questions then you will love reading this book. Lights will come on, indistinct things will come into focus, and you will no longer see "men as trees walking" (Mark 8:24) While the other writers of the New Testament may have used the word "covenant" a time or two in their books, the Apostle Paul referenced it over 20 times. For Paul the understanding of the two covenants is the bedrock of his gospel proclamation. Without a proper understanding of the covenants a presentation of the gospel falls incredibly short. Once you have heard the message of Paul unpacked in The Glory and the Covenants the subject will never be vague and indistinct for you again.

Old Covenant, New Covenant by Jesse Acuff Pdf

Who are we, then, to tell God that he cannot suspend or abolish laws that he has enacted previously? Who are we to decide that we can tell God what laws are binding or not binding on us as Christians? Who are we to say that law and grace must go hand-in-hand under the New Covenant and that we cannot commend ourselves to God unless we mix the two? What sort of arrogance is it that says to God, despite clear evidence to the contrary in scripture, 'You cannot possibly have suspended the Old Covenant Law in order to bring in the New Covenant of grace?'So you want to be under the Law? Do you think that the Law of Moses (the Old Covenant) should be binding for Christians today? Do you believe that Christians should be slaves to the legalism fostered largely by Sabbatarians and observe the festivals, new moons, kosher food laws, sabbaths and tithing outlined in Leviticus and Deuteronomy? If you want to discover the truth, readOld Covenant-New Covenant: The Case Against Legalism.Author Jesse Acuff shows that the Old Covenant rules and regulations were only shadows of the good things to come, which pointed to Christ and his redeeming grace. He further demonstrates that Christ abrogated the Old Covenant by his death on the cross and instituted a new and better covenant. Join Jesse as he demonstrates beyond doubt that it makes far more sense to accept the New Covenant teachings originally delivered by Jesus and the Apostles than adhering to the rules and regulations of the Old Covenant, which places one in bondage and does nothing toward attaining salvation. After readingOld Covenant-New Covenant: The Case Against Legalism, you will never again come down on the side of legalism!

The Kingdom of God and the Glory of the Cross by Patrick Schreiner Pdf

“The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field. It is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is larger than all the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.” —Matthew 13:31–32 When Jesus began his ministry, he announced that the kingdom of God was at hand. But many modern-day Christians don’t really understand what the kingdom of God is or how it relates to the message of the gospel. Defining kingdom as the King’s power over the King’s people in the King’s place, Patrick Schreiner investigates the key events, prophecies, and passages of Scripture that highlight the important theme of kingdom across the storyline of the Bible—helping readers see how the mission of Jesus and the coming of the kingdom fit together. Part of the Short Studies in Biblical Theology series.

Life of Spirit, Faith, and Love by Glenn Orgill Pdf

You are beginning to realize that your Christian life has become stale. Church, while good, does not seem to be hitting the mark. You pray and read your Bible. You try your best to be a good person and obey the commandments. You do all this as a good Christian should, but you feel empty. Where is God? You wonder, “Why doesn’t He answer my prayers?” Many Christians feel this way, and many of the ones who don’t feel this way, should. In Revelation 2:4 Jesus tells the Church of Ephesus: “you have left your first love”. How about you, have you left your first love? Would you like to return to Jesus, your first Love? Well, this book has something to say about that! It would be great if I could say to you, “just love Jesus more”, and that would solve your problems. I think you know that there is more to this story than that. We have a new Covenant with God through the shed blood of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Would you like to know what that Covenant is about? It is about a life of Faith in God. A life of Love, love of God first, and a love of others. It is a life lived with, of, and through God’s Holy Spirit who is within us. Do you want to know how to live this life? When you read this book you will find how God defines these terms: Faith, Love, and Spirit. Also you will discover the pattern of how God has provided His covenants, all pointing to our new covenant in Christ. You are being called to repent and to walk with God, a walk as He has created it to be! God is talking to you! Will you listen?

Paul: Servant of the New Covenant by Scott J. Hafemann Pdf

Taking 2 Cor 3:6 as its starting point, the new and updated essays here assembled investigate the key passages in Romans, 1-2 Corinthians, Galatians, and Philippians in which the covenant content and eschatological context of Paul's theology interpret one another. Developed over thirty years, Scott Hafemann's close reading of Paul's arguments, with an eye toward their OT/Jewish milieu, also advances the larger thesis that the various Israel/church, works/faith, and justification/judgment polarities in Paul's thinking do not represent a material contrast between a "law-way" and a "gospel-way" of relating to God. Rather, they epitomize an eschatological contrast between the character of God's people within the two eras of salvation history in which, by virtue of the Messiah and the Spirit, the Torah of the "old covenant" is now being kept in the "new."

The Lord's Prayer by J. Warren Smith Pdf

We have all had the experience of being at church and hearing the pastor say, "And now with the confidence of children we are bold to pray, 'Our Father . . .'" but before we know it we are saying "for Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen." In the very moment of intimacy when we are given the privilege of entering the presence of our heavenly Father, our minds have drifted off. We speak the words of the prayer, not from our hearts, but from the autopilot of memory. This is mere recitation, not prayer. If in relationships familiarity breeds contempt, in the case of the Lord's Prayer, familiarity breeds thoughtlessness. The Lord's Prayer: Confessing the New Covenant is not a Bible study in the traditional sense. It challenges us to think about the Lord's Prayer anew by understanding it as a confession of the New Covenant that Christ makes with us when we are made children of God in baptism. In hearing these familiar words afresh we learn to remember our baptismal covenant so that we might live more fully into that new relationship with God and with one another.

The Glory of the New Covenant by Oliver Vanderpuye Pdf

God's purpose to bless mankind is revealed in the covenants which he enacted with human beings in the course of history. Such divine covenants are vehicles for man to enter into the purposes of God. They define the inter-personal, intimate, love-relationship which God has always intended to have with man. Through divine covenants, God releases his heavenly reward, divine power, and blessings for man's enjoyment and blessing; and calls forth the earth to divine order and fruitfulness. The blessings of all covenants prior to the New Covenant lie stored up in Christ. It is in the New Covenant that all the blessings of the previous covenants are revealed and manifested in their full eschatological reality. Jesus is the mediator of the New Covenant, which was established and divinely legislated upon qualitatively superior promises far exceeding the Old Testament promises. Jesus is the mediator of the New Covenant means that he is the person and the medium in which the disposition of God is made effective and imparted to mankind. Therefore, when Jesus said, "This is my blood of the New Covenant," he was anticipating the ratification of the New Covenant prophesied in Jer. 31: 31-34, through his own blood. The New Covenant which Jesus referred to was the disposition and eternal purpose in the heart of God for mankind's total blessing. Through the enactment of the New Covenant, mankind has been reconciled to God to experience the glory of God's being and worship him as Lord and king over all.
