Newspaper Clippings from the Colbert County, Alabama Leighton News 1894 - 1903 by Robin Sterling Pdf

"The Leighton News was first established by Fred W. McCormack in 1890 as a small 5x8 sheet. It soon expanded to a traditional size but later suspended publication because the profit margin was too slim. No issues from that time were available for review. After a while, McCormack kept a promise to the people of Leighton and renewed publication of the News in 1894. Each issue was examined column by column with a view for capturing items of a genealogical interest such as reports of births, marriages, deaths, and obituaries. In addition, other clippings were transcribed having to do with the history of Colbert and Lawrence County, as well as the rest of the surrounding Tennessee Valley area."--Publisher's description

Historical Painting Techniques, Materials, and Studio Practice by Arie Wallert,Erma Hermens,Marja Peek Pdf

Bridging the fields of conservation, art history, and museum curating, this volume contains the principal papers from an international symposium titled "Historical Painting Techniques, Materials, and Studio Practice" at the University of Leiden in Amsterdam, Netherlands, from June 26 to 29, 1995. The symposium—designed for art historians, conservators, conservation scientists, and museum curators worldwide—was organized by the Department of Art History at the University of Leiden and the Art History Department of the Central Research Laboratory for Objects of Art and Science in Amsterdam. Twenty-five contributors representing museums and conservation institutions throughout the world provide recent research on historical painting techniques, including wall painting and polychrome sculpture. Topics cover the latest art historical research and scientific analyses of original techniques and materials, as well as historical sources, such as medieval treatises and descriptions of painting techniques in historical literature. Chapters include the painting methods of Rembrandt and Vermeer, Dutch 17th-century landscape painting, wall paintings in English churches, Chinese paintings on paper and canvas, and Tibetan thangkas. Color plates and black-and-white photographs illustrate works from the Middle Ages to the 20th century.

The Kennamer Family (Classic Reprint) by John Robert Kennamer Pdf

Excerpt from The Kennamer Family Elbert P. Cantrell, of Gastonia, North Carolina, a great grandson of Noah Kennemur, says: I have been told that Noah Kennemur came from Holland. He used his old Dutch Bible and hymn book. Noah Kennemur had three unmarried daughters, two of whom lived to a good old age. I was at their home near Greenville, South Carolina, in 1878, and they showed me the old Dutch Bible and hymn book used by their father and mother. Larkin H. Kenne mur, a great-grandson of Noah Kennemur, writes that he (noah) came across the waters with a brother, and that they got separated somehow and lost trace of each other. Probably his brother settled in Alabama. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
