Next Generation SSH2 Implementation by Dale Liu Pdf

New security risks, continuously evolving regulation and increasing security standards have created new and growing needs for secure internal information transfers, which SSH provides. This book addresses these new trends in depth, offering the most up-to-date information on the integration of SSH into a security environment. It covers the newest features and applications of SSH-2 (which received Proposed Standard status from the IETF in 2006). SSH2 is more secure than previous versions and has many expanded uses on a wider variety of computing platforms. Another particular note driving new SSH2 adoption are the requirements of recent legislation (PCI/HIPAA/SOX/FISMA). SSH 2 has become an even more valuable tool, as it provides communications security compliance with the latest standards. This book offers the most up-to-date information on SSH2 in a practical, hands-on, tutorial-style reference that goes well beyond UNIX implementation. Cybersecurity for Information Professionals by Hsia-Ching Chang,Suliman Hawamdeh Pdf

Information professionals have been paying more attention and putting a greater focus on privacy over cybersecurity. However, the number of both cybersecurity and privacy breach incidents are soaring, which indicates that cybersecurity risks are high and growing. Utilizing cybersecurity awareness training in organizations has been an effective tool to promote a cybersecurity-conscious culture, making individuals more cybersecurity-conscious as well. However, it is unknown if employees’ security behavior at work can be extended to their security behavior at home and personal life. On the one hand, information professionals need to inherit their role as data and information gatekeepers to safeguard data and information assets. On the other hand, information professionals can aid in enabling effective information access and dissemination of cybersecurity knowledge to make users conscious about the cybersecurity and privacy risks that are often hidden in the cyber universe. Cybersecurity for Information Professionals: Concepts and Applications introduces fundamental concepts in cybersecurity and addresses some of the challenges faced by information professionals, librarians, archivists, record managers, students, and professionals in related disciplines. This book is written especially for educators preparing courses in information security, cybersecurity, and the integration of privacy and cybersecurity. The chapters contained in this book present multiple and diverse perspectives from professionals in the field of cybersecurity. They cover such topics as: Information governance and cybersecurity User privacy and security online and the role of information professionals Cybersecurity and social media Healthcare regulations, threats, and their impact on cybersecurity A socio-technical perspective on mobile cybersecurity Cybersecurity in the software development life cycle Data security and privacy Above all, the book addresses the ongoing challenges of cybersecurity. In particular, it explains how information professionals can contribute to long-term workforce development by designing and leading cybersecurity awareness campaigns or cybersecurity hygiene programs to change people’s security behavior.

Cisco Router and Switch Forensics by Dale Liu Pdf

Cisco IOS (the software that runs the vast majority of Cisco routers and all Cisco network switches) is the dominant routing platform on the Internet and corporate networks. This widespread distribution, as well as its architectural deficiencies, makes it a valuable target for hackers looking to attack a corporate or private network infrastructure. Compromised devices can disrupt stability, introduce malicious modification, and endanger all communication on the network. For security of the network and investigation of attacks, in-depth analysis and diagnostics are critical, but no book currently covers forensic analysis of Cisco network devices in any detail. Cisco Router and Switch Forensics is the first book devoted to criminal attacks, incident response, data collection, and legal testimony on the market leader in network devices, including routers, switches, and wireless access points. Why is this focus on network devices necessary? Because criminals are targeting networks, and network devices require a fundamentally different approach than the process taken with traditional forensics. By hacking a router, an attacker can bypass a network's firewalls, issue a denial of service (DoS) attack to disable the network, monitor and record all outgoing and incoming traffic, or redirect that communication anywhere they like. But capturing this criminal activity cannot be accomplished with the tools and techniques of traditional forensics. While forensic analysis of computers or other traditional media typically involves immediate shut-down of the target machine, creation of a duplicate, and analysis of static data, this process rarely recovers live system data. So, when an investigation focuses on live network activity, this traditional approach obviously fails. Investigators must recover data as it is transferred via the router or switch, because it is destroyed when the network device is powered down. In this case, following the traditional approach outlined in books on general computer forensics techniques is not only insufficient, but also essentially harmful to an investigation. Jargon buster: A network switch is a small hardware device that joins multiple computers together within one local area network (LAN). A router is a more sophisticated network device that joins multiple wired or wireless networks together. The only book devoted to forensic analysis of routers and switches, focusing on the operating system that runs the vast majority of network devices in the enterprise and on the Internet Outlines the fundamental differences between router forensics and traditional forensics, a critical distinction for responders in an investigation targeting network activity Details where network forensics fits within the entire process of an investigation, end to end, from incident response and data collection to preparing a report and legal testimony

This trend continued in the program of this year’s conference. There were 133 paper submissions to ISC 2003. From these submissions the 31papersintheseproceedingswereselectedbytheprogramcommittee,covering a wide range of technical areas. These papers are supplemented by two invited papers;athirdinvitedtalkwaspresentedattheconferencebutisnotrepresented by a written paper. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all the authors that submitted papers to ISC 2003, and we hope that those whose papers were declined will be able to ?nd an alternative forum for their work. We are also very grateful to the three eminent invited speakers at the conference: Paul van Oorschot (Carleton University, Canada), Ueli Maurer (ETH Zur ̈ ich, Switzerland), and Andy Clark (Inforenz Limited, UK). We were fortunate to have an energetic team of experts who took onthe task of the program committee. Their names may be found overleaf, and we thank them warmly for their considerable e?orts. This team was helped by an even larger number of individuals who reviewed papers in their particular areas of expertise. A list of these names is also provided, which we hope is complete.

SSH, The Secure Shell by Daniel J. Barrett,Richard E. Silverman,Robert G. Byrnes Pdf

Are you serious about network security? Then check out SSH, the Secure Shell, which provides key-based authentication and transparent encryption for your network connections. It's reliable, robust, and reasonably easy to use, and both free and commercial implementations are widely available for most operating systems. While it doesn't solve every privacy and security problem, SSH eliminates several of them very effectively. Everything you want to know about SSH is in our second edition of SSH, The Secure Shell: The Definitive Guide. This updated book thoroughly covers the latest SSH-2 protocol for system administrators and end users interested in using this increasingly popular TCP/IP-based solution. How does it work? Whenever data is sent to the network, SSH automatically encrypts it. When data reaches its intended recipient, SSH decrypts it. The result is "transparent" encryption-users can work normally, unaware that their communications are already encrypted. SSH supports secure file transfer between computers, secure remote logins, and a unique "tunneling" capability that adds encryption to otherwise insecure network applications. With SSH, users can freely navigate the Internet, and system administrators can secure their networks or perform remote administration. Written for a wide, technical audience, SSH, The Secure Shell: The Definitive Guide covers several implementations of SSH for different operating systems and computing environments. Whether you're an individual running Linux machines at home, a corporate network administrator with thousands of users, or a PC/Mac owner who just wants a secure way to telnet or transfer files between machines, our indispensable guide has you covered. It starts with simple installation and use of SSH, and works its way to in-depth case studies on large, sensitive computer networks. No matter where or how you're shipping information, SSH, The Secure Shell: The Definitive Guide will show you how to do it securely.
