Next Global Giant Awakens by Kofi Osei Takyi-Mensah Pdf

As the author of The Imminent Rise of West Africa, published in 2015, I had the epiphany to write this second book. Immediately, the opportunity arrived. I foresaw the moral imperative and audaciously quantum stepped ahead and developed the duplex leadership and the authoritative capacity and courage to pinpoint the appreciable design of the postmodern twenty-first century massive and smarter commanding, empire-building institution, as they relate to the creation of the new postmodern twenty-first century innovative educational economic blueprint. Besides, as the postmodern twenty-first-century African thinker, transformative entrepreneurial evangelist, and a smarter, industrious, commanding, empire-building institutionalist, my optimum and passionate intent is to revolutionary awaken the future West African superstate regionalism and the future African superb continental economic powerhouse to solidify the impeccable rise of the African bottom billion’s economic empire. Globally, the African region is the fastest, overpowering population growth in the world and will still be the largest by the end of this century. The book boldly elaborates the emerging economic-wheel revolution, the new formidable economic structural blueprint for deliberately engineered-route to the on-demand economy and on-demand labor and immediate engagement and enlargement of the service economy in a massive scale and efficiently be able to accommodate the huge rise of the population growth in the West African region and Africa. Conventionally, in the realm of humanity, it takes an unbelievable, tremendous energetic capacity to push the human race forward. It demands a powerfully stronger force. Apparently, the individual-current nations alone in the West African region and Africa are not standardized utility for this astronomical, ambitious, and adventurous humankind undertaking; each lacks the kind of postmodern twenty-first century’s marvelous strength or capability to fuel the new necessary economic revolutionary order. However, the individual-current structural nation-states in West Africa and Africa are the preliminary stage for preparing the incarnation of a massive and smarter industrious commanding, empire-building institution for every corner of African society. It is an architectural manipulation of the economic living standard of humanity.

Sleeping Giant Awakens by David B. MacDonald Pdf

Confronting the truths of Canada's Indian residential school system has been likened to waking a sleeping giant. In The Sleeping Giant Awakens, David B. MacDonald uses genocide as an analytical tool to better understand Canada's past and present relationships between settlers and Indigenous peoples. Starting with a discussion of how genocide is defined in domestic and international law, the book applies the concept to the forced transfer of Indigenous children to residential schools and the "Sixties Scoop," in which Indigenous children were taken from their communities and placed in foster homes or adopted. Based on archival research, extensive interviews with residential school Survivors, and officials at the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada, among others, The Sleeping Giant Awakens offers a unique and timely perspective on the prospects for conciliation after genocide, exploring the difficulties in moving forward in a context where many settlers know little of the residential schools and ongoing legacies of colonization and need to have a better conception of Indigenous rights. It provides a detailed analysis of how the TRC approached genocide in its deliberations and in its Final Report. Crucially, MacDonald engages critics who argue that the term genocide impedes understanding of the IRS system and imperils prospects for conciliation. By contrast, this book sees genocide recognition as an important basis for meaningful discussions of how to engage Indigenous-settler relations in respectful and proactive ways.

Awakening to China's Rise by Hugo Meijer Pdf

Awakening to China's Rise provides the most comprehensive analysis to date of how Europe's major powers have responded to the re-emergence of China as a great power in world politics since the end of the Cold War. To do so, it puts forward a unique cross-regional comparison of how the major European powers (France, Germany and the United Kingdom) have confronted Chinese assertiveness both in the Asia-Pacific and in Europe. Firstly, it analyses their response to China's increasingly muscular regional posture in the Asia-Pacific through the development of diplomatic and security initiatives with partners in the region. Secondly, it delineates how they have confronted China's inroads into Europe, looking at the measures that they have taken to tackle Chinese investments in, and supply of, technologies in strategic sectors such as critical national infrastructures, dual-use technologies, and in the digital domain, including Huawei's 5G networks. A longstanding assumption in the IR literature has been that European foreign policies toward the People's Republic of China have been driven by a 'naïve' and self-interested focus on the economic opportunities presented by such a vast market, overlooking security considerations. This book challenges such common belief through a detailed examination of the policies of France, Germany and the United Kingdom from 1989 to the present. Its central argument is that, whereas this assessment aptly characterized the first two post-Cold War decades, Beijing's growing assertiveness after 2009 caused the three major European powers to awaken to China's rise. In the 2010s, heightened threat perceptions of China, coupled with increasingly competitive bilateral economic relations with the PRC, have gradually and cumulatively caused the hardening of their policy goals which, in turn, translated into the formulation of new policy instruments to confront such a challenge. To substantiate this argument, the book relies on a large body of previously undisclosed primary sources, including: 223 interviews conducted with senior officials in Europe (Berlin, Brussels, London, Paris), in the United States (Washington DC), and in Asia (Beijing, Shanghai, New Delhi, Seoul); declassified archival documents from France, the UK and Germany; leaked US diplomatic cables; and new data on European naval deployments.

Awakening Giants, Feet of Clay by Pranab Bardhan Pdf

A comparative look at the astonishing economic rise of modern China and India The recent economic rise of China and India has attracted a great deal of attention—and justifiably so. Together, the two countries account for one-fifth of the global economy and are projected to represent a full third of the world's income by 2025. Yet, many of the views regarding China and India's market reforms and high growth have been tendentious, exaggerated, or oversimplified. Awakening Giants, Feet of Clay scrutinizes the phenomenal rise of both nations, and demolishes the myths that have accumulated around the economic achievements of these two giants in the last quarter century. Exploring the challenges that both countries must overcome to become true leaders in the international economy, Pranab Bardhan looks beyond short-run macroeconomic issues to examine and compare China and India's major policy changes, political and economic structures, and current general performance. Bardhan investigates the two countries' economic reforms, each nation's pattern and composition of growth, and the problems afflicting their agricultural, industrial, infrastructural, and financial sectors. He considers how these factors affect China and India's poverty, inequality, and environment, how political factors shape each country's pattern of burgeoning capitalism, and how significant poverty reduction in both countries is mainly due to domestic factors—not global integration, as most would believe. He shows how authoritarianism has distorted Chinese development while democratic governance in India has been marred by severe accountability failures. Full of valuable insights, Awakening Giants, Feet of Clay provides a nuanced picture of China and India's complex political economy at a time of startling global reconfiguration and change.

Global Awakening by Michael Schacker Pdf

Shows how we must make deep changes to complete our paradigm shift from the old mechanistic worldview to the new organic worldview • Reveals the distinct stages of paradigm shifts through the ages, including the 18th-century Enlightenment and the critical stage of our current shift • Explains how the new organic worldview began with Goethe and Kant • Offers solutions for each of us to be able to realize and make the deep changes needed for global regeneration In Global Awakening, Michael Schacker shows that hidden within our global crises is a positive future for the planet. Sharing his 30 years of intensive research into the history of change as well as the evolution of consciousness and regenerative science, Schacker explains how our current shift from the old mechanistic worldview to a new organic worldview based on biological models follows the same pattern as other paradigm shifts across history, including the 18th-century Enlightenment and the American Revolution. He reveals the creative geniuses who have contributed to the birth of the organic worldview, beginning with Goethe, Kant, and Hahnemann. Exposing the scientific and social forces that drive paradigm shifts, he details the stages every paradigm shift progresses through: the early Enlightenment, the conservative backlash, the intensive phase, and and the transformational phase leading to the Organic Shift. Explaining that we are currently in the throes of the paradigm flip, the critical last phase of our paradigm shift, Schacker shows how the mechanistic worldview is crumbling around us and nothing but a complete transformation in the way we think will keep us from the path of total self-destruction. Providing a map to overcome the allure of the simplistic mechanical model that has spawned countless unsustainable practices and problems--from global warming to intense economic disparities--the author offers concrete solutions showing how each of us can use our talents, skills, and time to make the deep changes needed for global regeneration.

Industrialization in Ethiopia: Awakening - Crisis - Outlooks by Reimer Gronemeyer,Michaela Fink Pdf

Ethiopia, though remaining one of the least urbanised countries in the world, has taken impressive actions to transform the state into a more industrialized nation.Several industrial parks have been built in recent years throughout the whole country. The textile sector is one of these sectors. The textile industry is expected to provide employment for hundreds of thousands and thus improve people's living conditions and contribute to the development of the country. Major reason for asian investors to shift their focus to Ethiopia are extremely low wages and the lower production costs involved. The Ethiopian textile industry has to deal with high rates of labor turnover and absenteeism. From the perspective of the mostly international managers the reason for turnover and absenteeism is often attributed to the 'mindset' of the predominantly female workforce. A research project financed by the German Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung is looking at reasons and possible measures to solve this problem. Results of this project (conducted at the University of Giessen by Michaela Fink and Reimer Gronemeyer together with Ethiopian colleagues are presented in this book. Experts from Ethiopia and Germany are presenting the history of the textile industry in Ethiopia and the coming development. All this is framed by the discussion of present crisis - Covid-19; the war - in Ethiopia).

Rich World, Poor World by Ali A. Allawi Pdf

A landmark history of the world economic order, exploring how developing countries have fought to escape impoverishment Over the past two decades, experiments in neoliberal economics have opened up a chasm of inequality between the Global South and the West. Development advice from richer nations has led to social upheaval, political unrest, environmental degradation--and even the creation of a new underclass. Brutal extremes of wealth and poverty are now commonplace. Ali A. Allawi traces the evolution of the world economic order from the late imperial era to the present day. Shedding light on continuing controversies, Allawi shows how the process of development has been hindered at every turn, from poor leadership and lost opportunities to widespread corruption. In doing so, he argues that the current neoliberal consensus is only the most recent of a series of failed policy imperatives. Covering issues in the Global South as well as failures in the West, this definitive account offers an impassioned and authoritative call for change.

Hey, White Man, How Much Longer? Hey, Black Man, Awake! by Francis Hinga Lahai Pdf

This book is written to contribute to the existing discussions about race, racism and racial inequality, discussions that have polarized many societies. It debunks some arguments in “Why Nations Fail” and explains causes of African poverty and the future demise of white supremacy. Many other people have presented arguments that race-based prejudiced persons often use skin colour as a signifier of identity and superiority of race. This illusion has become so deeply entrenched that races such as the Caucasian race, the ‘White Man’, have demonized the dark skin, to the extent that they feel there has never been and will never be a match between the varying skin hues, in the sense that no matter how poor a light-skinned person is or how inefficient they are, the light-skinned person is still better than a successful dark-skinned person or coloured boss. Added to that, skin colour has become a significant trait in the western world to determine who gets employed, who gets convicted, and who gets elected.

The Rise of China by Thomas Waites Pdf

This science fiction novel uses historical antecedents to project a future scenario where China becomes the world's new superpower. In the years 2020 and 2021, they conquer most of Europe and they take over several U.S. Western States. They invent two terrible weapons that are used in their European campaign. The laser qiang is the world's first practical laser gun that proves devastating to the Austrian/German forces at the Bad Deutsch Altenburg Bridge. The shengbo, a weapon using infrasound, is even more horrible than the laser qiang. It is the decisive weapon enabling the Chinese forces to defeat the redoubtable Franco/Anglo forces defending France. The United States, in an attempt to free Europe from Chinese occupation, blockades China's entire eastern seaboard in hopes that her troops in Europe, without support from mainland China, will wither and die on the vine. In a fierce battle in the Yellow Sea, the U.S. Naval forces destroy the entire Chinese northern fleet. They also destroy China's eastern fleet. However, the Chinese manage to break free of the blockade in the South China Sea and they launch over 2,000 ultra large container ships, with millions of soldiers, to invade the western United States. Over seven million Chinese soldiers, split into three armies, begin their attack on the Western U.S. using Mexican territory for their bold and massive invasion. The U.S. fights back and there are terrible losses on both sides in the battles of Phoenix, El Paso and San Diego.Holed up in Mount Weather Virginia, the U.S. Government is in disarray. These terrible losses to the Chinese army have shaken U.S. confidence. The U.S. has always believed its armed forces are simply the best in the world, incapable of being defeated, especially on its own turf. During this crisis, the brave but seriously flawed General Johnson, orchestrates the first bloodless coup. President Mary Higgins, along with Admiral Nagamaza, Admiral Lemur and reporter Frank Weiss are locked up in the Mount Weather brigantine. Vice President Thomas is the new President but he is only a puppet of General Johnson who holds the real power. Six main characters are swept up in these epic events. Jack Lemur is a handsome and brash naval aviator. Having lived in China as a child, he is fluent in Mandarin. Akira Nagamaza, a third-generation Japanese-American is a brilliant scientist and Fleet Commander of U.S. Naval forces who destroys most of China's naval forces. He and Jack are favorites of President Higgins. Beautiful, intelligent and ambitious, Mary Higgins, despite great hardship in her youth, becomes the first woman President. She saves the U.S. from the brink of nuclear war. Frank Johnson is fearless and a patriotic American, but he is seriously flawed. This psychologically unstable army general leads the U.S. close to the brink of nuclear Armageddon. Wang Baoshan, the brave and heroic leader of China's naval forces, is the grandson of the famous naval aviator Wang Hai. Despite great losses, he goes toe-to-toe with the formidable American Navy. Zhao Tianhui, a brilliant strategist, follows the precepts of Sun Tzu to win startling victories over supposedly superior enemy forces. Zhao attended the National Defense University where he became proficient in English and mastered American military strategies.

Rising States, Rising Institutions by Alan S. Alexandroff,Andrew F. Cooper Pdf

A Brookings Institution Press and Centre for International Governance Innovation publication The global order is shifting. Even though no major war has intervened to reshape the architecture of the international order, the global financial crisis has accentuated the emergence of an enlarged global leadership. It is clear that change is afoot. The United States may be hanging on as the world's leading power, as the European Union remains an independent force in global politics, but a host of rising states—including China, India, and Brazil—clamor to be heard and take on bigger roles in world forums. Rising States, Rising Institutions features a panel of distinguished scholars who examine the forces at work: Gregory Chin (York University), Daniel W. Drezner(Tufts University), Thomas Hale (Princeton University), Andrew Hurrell (Oxford University), G. John Ikenberry (Princeton University), John Kirton (University of Toronto), Flynt Leverett (New America Foundation), Steven E. Miller (Harvard University), Andrew Moravcsik (Princeton University), Amrita Narlikar (Cambridge University), and Anne-Marie Slaughter (U.S. State Department). Together they analyze different models of international cooperation, the states that have most actively challenged the existing order, and leading and emergent international institutions such as the G-20, the nascent regime for sovereign wealth funds, the International Atomic Energy Agency, and the entities organized to foster cooperation in the war on terror.
