I Think You're Wrong (But I'm Listening) by Sarah Stewart Holland,Beth Silvers Pdf
More than ever, politics seem to be driven by discord. People sitting together in pews every Sunday feel like strangers and loved ones at the dinner table feel like enemies. Toxic political dialogue, hate-filled rants on social media, and agenda-driven news stories have become the new norm. But it doesn't have to be this way. In I Think You're Wrong (But I'm Listening), two working moms from opposite ends of the political spectrum teach us that politics don't have to divide us. Instead, we can bring the same care and respect to policy discussions that we bring to the rest of our lives. Sarah Stewart Holland and Beth Silvers, co-hosts of Pantsuit Politics, recently named an Apple Podcasts Show of the Year, give you all of the tools you need to: Respect the dignity of every person Recognize that issues are nuanced and can't be reduced to political talking points Listen in order to understand Lead with grace and patience Join Sarah from the left and Beth from the right as they teach you that people from opposing political perspectives truly can have calm, grace-filled conversations with one another. Praise for I Think You're Wrong (But I'm Listening): "Sarah and Beth are an absolute gift to our culture right now. Not only do they offer balanced perspectives from each political ideology, but they teach us how to dialogue well, without sacrificing our humanity." --Jen Hatmaker, New York Times bestselling author and speaker "Sarah from the left and Beth from the right serve as our guides through conflict and complexity, delivering us into connection. I wish every person living in the United States would read this compelling book, from the youngest voter to those holding the highest office." --Emily P. Freeman, Wall Street Journal bestselling author of The Next Right Thing
This collection of writings about my experiences as a psychotherapist and teacher first describes some of the childhood circumstances that influenced my becoming a good listener. It then highlights what I learned from two of my professors that influenced my decision me to become a psychologist. The book is primarily intended to serve as a memoir, my legacy for family and friends. It is essentially an account of my work as a psychologist, describing the skills—including careful listening—which I learned to employ with my clients in therapy and with the students I taught. It is intended, not as a textbook, to instruct about therapeutic or teaching methods, but as a description of the techniques I learned along the way to becoming a successful therapist and educator. More than simply emphasizing the importance of listening carefully to what my clients said--as well as what they didn’t say—I hope to convey by my example what behavior must be attended to, what should be encouraged and what values ought to be reinforced in order to meet the needs of those seeking assistance.
Know Thy Law Book 1: The Amendments is the first of a three series volume of books, focused on history and the law. In this installment, each one of the amendments in the constitution are analyzed from the point of view of two spirits; who are trying to teach a young man the law. The amendments are analyzed through stories, scenarios, historic guest appearances and much more. Know Thy Law was an absolute surprise. Reading and understanding the US Constitution is usually reserved for those seeking a career in law and can be downright intimidating to the average reader, however, George Trim is such a skillful storyteller that he makes you forget that youre actually learning invaluable information most people go through life unaware of, but something that can make such a profound difference in a myriad of circumstances. This book has the very real potential to benefit every single person that resides in this country, whose rights and/or responsibilities may come into question at some point in their lives. It is my hope that everyone makes it a priority to secure his or her very own copy of this book. Karen Bailey, Paraprofessional In this classic Know Thy Law, the author George Trim is not afraid to go to certain levels to capture and explain each amendment in the U.S. constitution. It is true genius the way Mr. Trim channels the spirit of righteousness of Malcolm X and Medgar Evers to reach and turn the unconscious to the conscious. It is very enlightening the way Mr. Trim gives lessons on history, metaphysics and Kemetic science while at the same time giving the reader an overstanding of all amendments. With a touch of sarcasm that Mr. Trim uses, he gives Know Thy Law a feel of entertainment while being very informative to the reader at the same time, showing that learning can be fun. Without a doubt, this classic should be in every school, library and home. Know Thy Law is a must have and gem to the conscious community because knowledge of the law and how it is used is an essential tool for liberation of the people. HOTEP!!!!! Ian Kane, Metaphysician
Crowded The Crowds by Helen June White AKA Jasmine Inkwell Pdf
Crowded the Crowds By: Helen June White AKA Jasmine Inkwell Crowded the Crowds is a real-life horror story, one that Helen June White AKA Jasmine Inkwell has had to live for the last nine years of her life, as told in the first book, The Crowds, a book of encouragement, one that will inspire you to always reach for the stars, never giving up no matter the opposition, the wall that’s in front of you, and if you find that you’re just too weak from the battle, from crying all night long and you just can’t make it over that brick wall, find a way around it, even if you have to blow it up. Sometimes it’s hard to fight to breathe, but we must never give up. We are all fighting dragons and monsters, but with our faith, our God is bigger than any dragon, any monster, and any Goliath. Just hold and keep the faith.
New York Times bestselling author Rainbow Rowell's epic fantasy, the Simon Snow trilogy, concludes with Any Way the Wind Blows. In Carry On, Simon Snow and his friends realized that everything they thought they understood about the world might be wrong. And in Wayward Son, they wondered whether everything they understood about themselves might be wrong. Now, Simon and Baz and Penelope and Agatha must decide how to move forward. For Simon, that means choosing whether he still wants to be part of the World of Mages — and if he doesn't, what does that mean for his relationship with Baz? Meanwhile Baz is bouncing between two family crises and not finding any time to talk to anyone about his newfound vampire knowledge. Penelope would love to help, but she's smuggled an American Normal into London, and now she isn't sure what to do with him. And Agatha? Well, Agatha Wellbelove has had enough. Any Way the Wind Blows takes the gang back to England, back to Watford, and back to their families for their longest and most emotionally wrenching adventure yet. This book is a finale. It tells secrets and answers questions and lays ghosts to rest. The Simon Snow Trilogy was conceived as a book about Chosen One stories; Any Way the Wind Blows is an ending about endings—about catharsis and closure, and how we choose to move on from the traumas and triumphs that try to define us.

Interrogating Gendered Pathologies by Erin Clark,Michelle F. Eble Pdf
Interrogating Gendered Pathologies points out and critiques unjust patterns of pathology. Erin A. Frost and Michelle F. Eble assemble a transdisciplinary approach from/to technologies, rhetorics, philosophies, epistemologies, and biomedical data to consider the effects of biomedicine’s gendered norms on people’s lives. Using a range of complementary and intersectional theoretical approaches, contributors ask questions about rhetoric’s role in healthcare and how it differs depending on patient embodiment and the ways nonnormative bodies are pathologized. These chapters engage common narratives about the ways in which gender in healthcare is secondary and highlights the stories of people who have battled to prioritize their own bodies through extraordinary difficulties. Employing a multiplicity of voices, the book represents a number of different perspectives on what it might look like to return health and medical data to embodied experience, to consider the effects of gendered and intersectional biomedical norms on lived realities, and to subvert the power of institutions in ways that move us toward biomedical justice. This collection contributes to the burgeoning field of health and medical rhetorics by rhetorically and theoretically intervening in what are often seen as objective and neutral decisions related to the body and to scientific and medical data about bodies. Interrogating Gendered Pathologies will be of interest to feminist scholars in the field of rhetoric and writing studies, specifically those in the rhetorics of health and medicine, as well as scholars of technical communication, feminist studies, gender studies, technoscience studies, and bioethics. Originally published in 1986. This collection of essays is unified by one leading idea: that the active and creative abilities of listeners and readers deserve as much attention as the skills of speakers and writers. It is shown that hearers, far from being passive recipients in the communicative process, are in fact active in selecting, interpreting and creating from the disparate signals they receive. Equally, readers are involved in creating individual patterns of significance from a text. In presenting this argument, some essays deal with the importance of gender considerations, some with special modes of writing such as the private diary and literary translations, and others with the more familiar fields of poetry and drama. In the sphere of popular music, distinctions such as ‘folk’ and ‘pop’ indicate special problems in assessing the ‘authenticity’ of a listener’s response. By concentrating on active listening, the collection develops and illustrates the conviction that there are fundamental premises underlying the various disciplines under review, the analysis of which makes for a fuller understanding of communication in all its forms.
