Pains on Trains is the perfect way to take the tedium out of commuting, guaranteed to become as indispensable to the seasoned traveller as the blow-up pillow and water sterilising tablets. In Pains on Trains, Andrew Holmes and Matthew Reeves set their sights on the scourge of the modern office worker - other office workers who clog up trains, buses, boats and planes with their annoying habits and depressing clothes. Pains on Trains is dedicated to the rush-hour veteran and consists of a 'pain-spotting' guide to the very worst people you meet on your daily commute. Each painful character is illustrated in their usual context and supported by a short narrative.

A Little Boy And His Trains by Dr. Gene (Dandy) Crumbley Pdf

This book,“A Little Boy and His Trains“, came about because of a little boy and his love of trains and anything that had to do with trains. The book is an “almost true” story beginning with his very first train book which happened to be the famous little blue tank engine. Each page tells a story about a train toy that Craig had and played with, and train shows, train exhibits, or train rides which Craig and Dandy did together. One of the rides was an exciting trip to Plains, GA,the hometown of former President Jimmy Carter. A color picture on each page shows exactly what that story is about, except on a couple of pages where permission to use a picture was not granted. This story really had it's beginning when Craig was visiting his grandfather whom he calls Dandy. They were on the porch and Craig was playing with one of his toy trains when a train horn sounded far off in the distance, and he wanted to "go find that train. So they hopped in the car and started out to find that train. After some time of riding up and down different roads, they finally saw the train, and then chased it, and beat it back to the town from where they started. In between the "first train book" and "chasing the train" are stories that children of any age will find very interesting and delightful. Parents and Grandparents will enjoy reading these stories to their children and grandchildren, and older children will enjoy putting themselves in Craig's shoes as they follow his adventures with the trains. This story is a true story except for one part, which makes it an "almost true"story. It is up to the reader to guess which part that is!

Playing with Trains by Sam Posey Pdf

Why do grown men play with trains? Is it a primal attachment to childhood, nostalgia for the lost age of rail travel, or the stuff of flat-out obsession? In this delightful and unprecedented book, Grand Prix legend Sam Posey tracks those who share his “passion beyond scale” and discovers a wonderfully strange and vital culture. Posey’s first layout, wired by his mother in the years just after the Second World War, was, as he writes in his Introduction, “a miniature universe which I could operate on my own. Speed and control: I was fascinated by both, as well as by the way they were inextricably bound together.” Eventually, when Posey’s son was born, he was convinced that building him a basement layout would be the highest expression of fatherhood. Sixteen years and thousands of hours later, this project, “the outgrowth of chance meetings, unexpected friendships, mistakes, illness, latent ambitions, and sheer luck” was completed. But for Posey, the creation of his HO-scale masterpiece based on the historic Colorado Midland, was just the beginning. In Playing with Trains, Sam Posey ventures well beyond the borders of his layout in northwestern Connecticut, to find out what makes the top modelers tick. He expects to find men “engaged in a genial hobby, happy to spend a few hours a week escaping the pressures of contemporary life.” Instead he uncovers a world of extremes–extreme commitment, extreme passion, and extreme differences of approach. For instance, Malcolm Furlow, holed up on his ranch in the wilderness of New Mexico, insists that model railroading is defined by scenery and artistic self-expression. On the other hand, Tony Koester, a New Jersey modeler, believes his “mission” is to replicate, with fanatical precision and authenticity, the way a real railroad operates. Going to extremes himself, Posey actually “test drives” a real steam engine in Strasburg, Pennsylvania, in an attempt to understand the great machines that inspired the models and connect us to a time when “the railroad was inventing America.” Timeless and original, Playing with Trains reveals a classic, questing American world.

It's Not Just Growing Pains by Thomas J. A. Lehman M.D. Pdf

Arthritis is usually considered a disease of older adults, but nearly 300,000 children in the United States suffer from some form of arthritis or rheumatic disease, such as juvenile arthritis (JRA), fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, systemic lupus erythematosus, scleroderma, or Kawasaki disease. Yet until now very little information has been available to guide parents and doctors in properly diagnosing such children. Here is a readable, reliable guide to the common causes of bone, joint, muscle, and arthritis pain in children, designed to help parents and physicians understand these disorders, arrive at the proper diagnosis, and choose the most effective treatment. In this comprehensive resource, Dr. Thomas Lehman--the head of one of the most prestigious pediatric rheumatology programs in the world--offers easy-to-understand information on the causes, symptoms, tests, and treatments for a wide variety of rheumatic diseases and childhood pain. Dr. Lehman writes with great clarity, providing numerous case examples that illustrate the topic at hand and offering practical, down-to-earth advice. Equally important, he answers the questions that parents are most likely to ask: What should they observe in their children? What questions should they ask their doctor? Which tests are necessary? What risk factors should they be aware of? And how can they help their children cope with the social and psychological aspects of their illness. The book summarizes diagnostic tests, discusses the most effective medications, and discusses physical therapy, alternative therapy, and surgical options that are available. Clearly written, thorough, authoritative, and up-to-date, It's Not Just Growing Pains is the definitive resource available on the subject for parents and health care professionals, helping them to understand the children's pain and find the best available care.

Get a multi-dimensional understanding of musculoskeletal anatomy with Anatomy Trains: Myofascial Meridians for Manual Therapists & Movement Professionals, 4th Edition. This hugely successful, one-of-a-kind title continues to center on the application of anatomy trains across a variety of clinical assessment and treatment approaches — demonstrating how painful problems in one area of the body can be linked to a "silent area" away from the problem, and ultimately giving rise to new treatment strategies. This edition has been fully updated with the latest evidence-based research and includes new coverage of anatomy trains in motion using Pilates-evolved movement, anatomy trains in horses and dogs, and the updated fascial compendium on elements, properties, neurology, and origins of the fascial system. It also offers a new, larger library of videos, including animations and webinars with the author. In all, this unique exploration of the role of fascial in healthy movement and postural distortion is an essential read for physical therapists, massage therapists, craniosacral therapists, yoga instructors, osteopathologists, manual therapists, athletic and personal trainers, dance instructors, chiropractors, acupuncturists, and any professional working in the field of movement. Revolutionary approach to the study of human anatomy provides a holistic map of myoanatomy to help improve the outcomes of physical therapies that are traditionally used to manage pain and other musculoskeletal disorders. Relevant theory descriptions are applied to all common types of movement, posture analysis, and physical treatment modalities. Intuitive content organization allows students to reference the concept quickly or gain a more detailed understanding of any given area according to need. Section on myofascial force transmission in gait dynamics is written by guest author James Earls. Robust appendices discuss the relevance of the Anatomy Trains concept to the work of Dr Louis Schultz (Meridians of Latitude), Ida Rolf (Structural Integration), and correspondences with acupuncture meridians. New photos and images of fascial tissues, adhesions, and layers provide a better understanding of text content. Revised and expanded content reflects the most up-to-date research and latest evidence for the scientific basis of common clinical findings. New, larger library of videos includes animations and webinars with the author.
