POWER, PASSION, AND PRAYERS DURING THE PANDEMIC by Vannette Hill Pdf

The world, as we know it, has drastically changed since mid-March 2020 when the coronavirus was declared a public health emergency and was spreading around the world. Like so many schools, businesses, and sports associations, millions of churches and houses of worship were temporarily closed to prevent the spread of the virus. What was the church to do? They were used to gathering in person, with faces and feet; however, with the present climate and to protect human life, the church moved to a virtual setting. The well-respected leadership of this church took the seriousness of the pandemic from the very beginning, and as of March 17, they were forced to close and shut the doors. “The church doors may be closed, but the church is still open,” stated the pastor as he started the Glad Tidings International Church of God in Christ Zoom prayer line. As online attendance grew by leaps and bounds, the saints began calling it a lifeline—because of the lives that were being sustained during the pandemic in prayer. Power, Passion, and Prayers during the Pandemic reveals what a local church did to survive the first year of this global crisis. The auspicious leaders, Bishop J.W. Macklin and Lady Vanessa Macklin, declared confidently that “we still believe God,” which became the theme of GTI as everyone endeavored to cope with the uncertainty and anxiety of the pandemic. Praying daily gave us the strength we needed to trust that God is with us at every moment and is beside us every step of the way. The author was inspired to write this book based on the faithfulness, commitment, and testimonies of those who were fighting to replace their pain with prayer and power. She witnessed God’s people take the church out into the community, feed the hungry, love the unchurched, offer health services, and make disciples as the church continued to advance the Kingdom of God. COVID-19 didn’t stop them, not at all. The members of Glad Tidings International and other believers around the world experienced some gain and some losses, but they kept on going. The pandemic empowered them, impassioned them, and encouraged both the young and old to forge ahead for Christ. “The church may have been shut down, but we will not shut up.”

Prayers for the Pandemic by Jo Ann Levitt Pdf

In this brief collection of prayers and poetry, Jo Ann Levitt depicts the multiple moods that arise on a daily basis while witnessing the changes brought about by the great Pandemic of the 21st century. Through this series of rhymed prayers, the author shares conflicting experiences of mirth and misery, madness and mystery, all the while searching for the means to adjust to (or in some cases survive) this extraordinary event that has taken the world by surprise. Much of her work is aimed both at finding peace while at the same time exploring the deeper meaning—extracting potential clues or messages from Spirit that will help sustain us and at the same time align us with God’s greater purpose.

Pandemic by Rev. Sheldon Carr Pdf

This book began as daily letters I wrote for my parishioners. Each day I focus on some small piece of scripture from the daily Revised Common Lectionary. I wanted to help people to see that scripture matters and it speaks to us in the 21st century. In the beginning I thought that I was writing for my parish. As time went on, I realized that I too was learning to live life and experience this time of trial with psalms, the prophets, and the Gospels as my guide. Primarily, I wanted my letters to encourage people in this time of pandemic. I want the letters to be a sign of hope when discouragement is everywhere.

Organized around the four-fold pattern of Sunday worship—Gathering, Word, Meal, Sending—this collection of essays provides source material for both theological discernment and practical implementation. Topics include preparing and theologizing worship no matter the modality, engaging the questions of embodiment as related to the incarnation of Christ, and looking at the theology of church in a digital age. Renowned scholars in the field explore how online worship provides for the visibility of the gospel, how to lament and pray in the midst of pandemic and future crises, and how the mission of the church through its worship can continue regardless of physical restrictions. This timely collection appeals to researchers, professionals, and practitioners in the field.

Lamenting the Pandemic Season by Gwendolyn Carole Tipton Pdf

Gwendolyn Carole Tipton believes that King David kept a journal that became part of the Psalms. He wrote of his sorrow, pain, joy, gratefulness and concluded each message with words of praise to God. Lamenting the pandemic season is her book of Psalms. Like King David, Tipton's journal examines the events of the day with myriad observations and aspirations. During the pandemic, she wrote about things happening in her and others' lives that fostered abrupt changes in their comings and goings and emotional feelings about how to simply be still. Throughout this book, the author puts forth numerous Bible verses to validate her belief in God's covenant with us and present prayers of supplication petitioning God for help and intervention. Our lives are changing, and we are not at the helm of the transformation. Journaling will help us get through today, the days ahead, and remember the past.

Threshold Dwellers in the Age of Global Pandemic by Eleazar S. Fernandez Pdf

So many lives have been lost now and the death toll still continues to rise because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The poor and the marginalized, not surprisingly, have been disproportionately affected. The pandemic has exposed the fault lines not only in our healthcare but also in our political and economic system, a system driven by the pursuit of the bottom line—profits. If we are not only to survive but also thrive as a global society, the challenge of the coronavirus pandemic must lead us to explore ways of thinking, being, and dwelling that promote our shared flourishing. It is time to take personal stock about ourselves: who we are, where we have been, and where we are heading. What can the pandemic teach us about ourselves? What is it revealing about us and our situation? How shall we dwell together? Do we want to wake up to a new and better tomorrow after this nighttime of pandemic? That will largely depend on the way we respond now. Who are we becoming in this time of pandemic? What daily practices are we doing as embodiments of the new world we are anticipating?

Let the Bible help you pray positively and powerfully during the COVID-19 pandemic. The coronavirus pandemic has left most of us feeling unsettled, concerned and helpless. It has driven many of us to our knees, but it is such an overwhelming problem that many of us are unsure how to pray, or what for. This little book has been written specifically to help Christians in this season. Each spread takes a passage of Scripture and suggests 5 things to pray from it so that we can pray in line with God's will. When we pray in line with God’s priorities, we know that our prayers will be powerful-they really will change things. These prayer prompts will help you to pray for such things as comfort in loneliness, peace in anxiousness, patience in frustration, wisdom in uncertainty and hope in grief. They will also help you to pray for family who you cannot visit, those who are sick and those looking after them, the vulnerable members of your community, your church, your government and the opportunities that this crisis presents for God’s kingdom to grow.

A Global Pandemic: Ripple Effect of COVID-19 by Mansoureh Ebrahimi,Uygar Aydemir Pdf

The COVID-19 pandemic has rapidly affected our communication and lifestyle and upended all regular routines of daily life. Social distancing, economic disruption, and challenges to public health brought about a new order of government policies. Besides, social responsibilities adapted many new norms due to the measures taken by authorities to control the spread of the pandemic. The current global situation offers an opportunity for joint communal effort at national and international levels along with social awareness and commitment to official instructions. Significant enquiries given in this book, from Asian and Middle Eastern countries, address attendant issues concerning the COVID-19 pandemic and the specific roles played by government policy, public awareness, social behaviour, and the role of technology during the pandemic. Selected papers from Current Trends in the Middle East: Virtual International Joint Conference on COVID-19 Global Impacts (V-The 4th ICCTME 2021, 9 – 10 March 2021) discuss ‘how leaders at all levels battled the pandemic and their concerted efforts successfully confronted the crisis and avoided panic’. This theme implies several layers of strategic planning which as a whole have attempted at shaping the society in a way to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission while assuring integrity, obtaining national solidarity and reinforcing public trust in governments. Additional investigations in the book analyze the role of technology and pivotal approaches in accordance with the need to embrace the Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR4.0). We hope that this approach will open the floor for attracting novel contributions from great minds with an awareness of protecting cultural heritage. In particular, specific attention is given to examining the role of technology usage in mediating the interaction between people and institutions for sustainable living, including the interaction between all members of society and technology. Along the same lines, a connotative analysis provides insight into how and why the application of smart digital infrastructures into hospitals and houses might prevent contagious diseases in the COVID-19 era. Our authors highlight key trends and insights from different perspectives and discuss various strategies and roles adopted by local and international institutions. Willingness to learn from others is the idea behind this book. In the light of this idea, organized preparations and well-coordinated initiatives produced favourable results in this collection. Through its discussion of the current crisis management via a wide range of information and experiences in sharing knowledge, experiences, and skills from Malaysia, Indonesia, Iran, Pakistan, Turkey and Palestine, this book aims to be a part of the scientific environment that deliberates to decrease the number of infections and deaths, in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic

God and the Pandemic by TOM WRIGHT Pdf

‘Superbly written, utterly Bible based. . . Do not hesitate!’ Archbishop Justin Welby What are we supposed to think about the coronavirus crisis? Some people think they know: ‘This is a sign of the End,’ they say. ‘It’s all predicted in the book of Revelation.’ Others disagree but are equally clear: ‘This is a call to repent. God is judging the world and through this disease he’s telling us to change.’ Some join in the chorus of blame and condemnation: ‘It’s the fault of the Chinese, the government, the World Health Organization...' Tom Wright examines these reactions to the virus and finds them wanting. Instead, he invites you to consider a different way of seeing and responding – a way that draws on the teachings and examples of scripture, and above all on the way of living, thinking and praying revealed to us by Jesus.

Pandemic Survival Guide by Mpho J. Mosia Pdf

The aim for this book is to bring out the truth and reality of the Hebrew names of the Lord, who is Jesus Christ, and what his role is in the middle of a global pandemic, such as COVID-19. In this modern era, where technology is right at our disposal making it easy to look up a Bible verse on Google or a Bible app, we fail to fully digest the meaning behind Scripture. Memory verses are especially critical in times of severe pressure, when there is hardly any time to pray and the whole world suddenly comes crumbling down like an avalanche right in front of you. It takes time, endurance, and determination to memorize Scripture. But there is still time, and there is no better time than the present.
