Pathologic Myopia by Richard F. Spaide,Kyoko Ohno-Matsui,Lawrence A. Yannuzzi Pdf

Pathologic Myopia is a major cause of severe vision loss worldwide. The mechanisms for vision loss include cataract, glaucoma, retinal detachment, and above all, myopic maculopathy within the posterior staphyloma. The first edition of Pathologic Myopia is one of the only current books to specifically address this disease and discusses recent developments in imaging technologies and various approaches to treatments, such as laser photocoagulation, photodynamic therapy, pharmaco-therapeutic injections in the vitreous, and surgery. This new edition is a timely update to the standard reference in the field, with new chapters on advanced refractive error correction, genetics, developing a classification system, and special surgical approaches for pathologic myopia. Complete with even more high-quality color images and informative tables, this book is written and edited by leaders in the field and is geared towards ophthalmologists, including residents and fellows in training, glaucoma and cataract specialists, and vitreoretinal macula experts.

Atlas of Posterior Fundus Changes in Pathologic Myopia by Takashi Tokoro Pdf

Pathologic myopia that is due to axial elongation causes thinning of the retina and choroid, especially in cases of posterior staphyloma. The result of this myopia is the development of various kinds of chorioretinal atrophy in the posterior pole, with a gradual progression of the atrophic changes extending over several decades. Until now, studies of atrophic lesions and their clinical course have been incomplete, and diagnostic standards and classification of chorioretinopathy have been unclear. The Atlas of Posterior Fundus Changes in Pathologic Myopia discusses these and other important questions on the basis of long-term observation and research. A major feature of the book is the presentation of many case studies, with generous use of full-color photographs to show in detail the course of fundus changes. The atlas is valuable resource not only for ophthalmologists interested in myopia but for optometrists, opticians, and medical students.

Atlas of Pathologic Myopia by Kyoko Ohno-Matsui Pdf

This Atlas provides many beautiful images obtained with state-of-the-art technologies, including optical coherence tomography (OCT), OCT angiography, fundus autofluorescence, and wide-field fundus imaging, as well as traditional images and fluorescein/ICG angiograms. Gathered at the world’s largest High Myopia Clinic, the images are based on the long-term follow-up data of more than 6,000 patients from Japan and abroad. Recent advances in imaging technologies have yielded many new observations and allowed us to detect new lesions, e.g. myopic traction maculopathy (or macular retinoschisis) and dome-shaped macula. An especially interesting aspect: the images obtained by ‘3D MRI of the eye’ and ‘ultra wide-field OCT’ to visualize staphylomas. These techniques were established by the editor’s group and make it possible to record the entire shapes of the eye, offering a scan width of up to 23 mm and scan depth of 5 mm. They have since been used to visualize posterior staphyloma, which was previously impossible to view because it spanned such a wide range of the eye. In addition, readers will learn what types of eye deformity occur in pathologic myopia and how they damage the macula/optic nerve. With this Atlas, readers will learn how to accurately diagnose each lesion of pathologic myopia, how eye deformity causes blinding complications, and how to identify patients with a poor prognosis. In short, it provides essential information that can’t be found elsewhere.

Vitreoretinal Surgery by Thomas H. Williamson Pdf

This is the second edition of a highly successful textbook that in many areas has become the preferred manual of vitreoretinal surgery. It provides a complete guide to all common vitreoretinal surgical procedures and also covers diagnosis and other aspects of management. The book is designed to allow a trainee or professional vitreoretinal surgeon to determine the best methodology in individual cases. In order to acquaint the reader with different opinions, “surgical pearls” have been contributed by other international experts in the field. These have proved popular in the past as an illustration of alternative methods, without detracting from the overall method described by the main author. Vitreoretinal Surgery will continue to prove particularly popular amongst trainees, but will also be of value to practicing professionals who need help in the management of difficult and rare cases. The text is backed up by the provision of videos of some aspects of the surgery.

Atlas of Retinal Detachment by Wenbin Wei Pdf

This atlas and textbook aims to provide diverse pictures, facilitating the readers to learn fundus diseases. Retinal detachment is a common group of vitreo-retinal diseases that causes blindness. The diagnosis and differential diagnosis are dependent mostly on ophthalmolscopy and fundus imaging technology. With the development of imaging technology, it is getting easier for ophthalmologist to make quick and accurate decision on the diagnosis. The book includes both common types of retinal detachment and some rare diseases. Moreover, some diseases without but related to retinal detachment are included in the book. In addition to traditional color fundus photos, fundus fluorescent angiography, ultrasound and traditional OCT images, OCT angiography and ultrasound angiography images are included too. This book also contains brief introductions to each disease. Differentiated from detailed review of pathogenesis or treatment, the readers will discover concise yet direct concept. This atlas and textbook is yours to read and enjoy, but also to use as a valuable tool in your management of the patient with retinal detachment. Keep it handy. Anti-VEGF by Francesco Bandello,Maurizio Battaglia Parodi,A. J. Augustin Pdf

The development of therapy with anti-angiogenics or vascular endothelial growth factor inhibitors (anti-VEGF) has marked the beginning of a new era in neovascularization and macular edema treatment. Its main goals are the inhibition of growth and development of new vessels along with the reduction of vascular permeability. The advantages over conventional laser photocoagulation are evident as laser treatment always leaves scars and causes a retinal sensitivity deterioration. Starting with an outline of treatment principles, this volume covers all aspects of anti-VEGF therapy for ophthalmological disorders. In particular, specific chapters are dedicated to age-related macular degeneration, degenerative myopia, angioid streaks, inflammatory diseases, hereditary dystrophies, retinal vein occlusion, diabetic retinopathy, ocular tumors, as well as anterior segment neovascularization. The book gives an update on the application of anti-VEGF in ocular diseases to general ophthalmologists as well as retina specialists.
