Sexual Behavior in the Human Female by Alfred C. Kinsey,Wardell B. Pomeroy,Clyde E. Martin,Paul H. Gebhard Pdf

The groundbreaking Kinsey Report study on female sexuality from “one of the most influential figures in American intellectual history” (The New York Times). Originally published in 1953, the material presented in Sexual Behavior in the Human Female was derived from personal interviews with nearly 6,000 women; from studies in sexual anatomy, physiology, psychology, and endocrinology. The study revealed the incidence and frequency with which women participate in various types of sexual activity and how such factors as age, decade of birth, and religious adherence are reflected in patterns of sexual behavior. The authors make comparisons of female and male sexual activities and investigate the factors which account for the similarities and differences between female and male patterns of behavior and provide some measure of the social significance of the various types of sexual behavior. “[It] shocked the world in 1953 with its explicit revelations. Countries banned it. Churches berated it. Some scholars scoffed . . . but it was an instant success, selling 270,000 copies in less than a month . . . [Kinsey] made headlines around the globe with his findings on such things as masturbation, sex before marriage and adultery.”—CBSNews.com

Evolution and Human Sexual Behavior by Peter B. Gray,Justin R. Garcia Pdf

Few things come more naturally to us than sex—or so it would seem. Yet to a chimpanzee, the sexual practices and customs we take for granted would appear odd indeed. He or she might wonder why we bother with inconveniences like clothes, why we prefer to make love on a bed, and why we fuss so needlessly over privacy. Evolution and Human Sexual Behavior invites us into the thought-experiment of imagining human sex from the vantage point of our primate cousins, in order to underscore the role of evolution in shaping all that happens, biologically and behaviorally, when romantic passions are aroused. Peter Gray and Justin Garcia provide an interdisciplinary synthesis that draws on the latest discoveries in evolutionary theory, genetics, neuroscience, comparative primate research, and cross-cultural sexuality studies. They are our guides through an exploration of the patterns and variations that exist in human sexuality, in chapters covering topics ranging from the evolution of sex differences and reproductive physiology to the origins of sexual play, monogamous unions, and the facts and fictions surrounding orgasm. Intended for generally curious readers of all stripes, this up-to-date, one-volume survey of the evolutionary science of human sexual behavior explains why sexuality has remained a core fascination of human beings throughout time and across cultures.

Risking the Future by Panel on Adolescent Pregnancy and Childbearing,National Research Council,Cheryl D. Hayes Pdf

Abstract: This book presents the findings, conclusions, and recommendations of the Committee on Child Development Research and Public Policy within the National Research Council. The panel examined research and existing programs which address the areas of adolescent sexuality, pregnancy, and childbearing with the intent of making recommendations for policy making, program design, program evaluation, and research. The panel's report is presented in chapters addressing the following topics: trends in adolescent sexuality and fertility, society and changing roles of adolescents, determinants of sexual behavior, effects of adolescent childbearing, interventions, and priorities for data collection, research, policies, and programs. An accompanying volume contains the working papers on which the report was based. The working papers address three broad areas, which are: 1) influences on early sexual and fertility behavior, 2) consequences of early sexual and fertility behavior, and 3) programs and policies related to teen pregnancy and sexuality.

Sexual Behavior in the Human Male by Alfred C. Kinsey,Wardell B. Pomeroy,Clyde E. Martin Pdf

When first published in 1948, Sexual Behavior in the Human Male encountered a storm of condemnation and acclaim. By unshackling sex research from flawed founding constraints, Kinsey revolutionized it. In this 75th anniversary edition, featuring a new foreword from Judith A. Allen, Sexual Behavior in the Human Male revisits the work of Alfred C. Kinsey and his fellow researchers as they sought to accumulate an objective body of facts regarding sex. Originally an entomologist, Kinsey applied his fieldwork taxonomy methods to human sexuality. With 5,300 research subjects, his undertaking was the largest sex research project of its time, transforming the field. With scientific exactness, Kinsey describes the methodology, sampling, coding, interviewing, and statistical analyses, and then examines factors and sources of sexual outlet. Told through men's experiences of sexuality and reproduction, Sexual Behavior in the Human Male: Anniversary Edition is a remarkable rumination on American society and science in the early 20th century.

Sexual Attitudes and Behaviours by Anonim Pdf

This bibliography and review of the literature on sexual behaviors and attitudes toward sexual behavior was developed to contribute to an understanding of changes in attitudes toward sexual behaviors and in community patterns of sexual behaviors, and to assist in the development of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) education programs. It reports on Australian and major overseas studies describing community patterns of sexual behavior, with special reference to the period since 1978. It includes a review and analysis of the results of these studies and reports on the reliability and validity of survey results. Comments are made concerning the implications of the survey results for AIDS prevention and community education strategies and programs for both the general community and specific subgroups (intravenous drug users, bisexual and homosexual males, and adolescents). Sources for the information in this review include commercial polls and sample surveys, work commissioned by governments and their agencies, studies by voluntary agencies, and academic studies. Individual sections of the review focus on: (1) patterns of sexual behavior from the Kinsey reports of 1948 and 1953 to the 1970s; (2) patterns of sexual behavior found in Australia studies between 1980 and 1988; (3) cohabitation; (4) heterosexual adolescents and the risk of human immunodeficiency virus infection; (5) intravenous drug users, AIDS, and behavior change; (6) the arrival of AIDS and patterns of homosexual behavior; (7) behavioral changes in the homosexual community in response to the threat of AIDS; (8) research methodologies; and (9) a summary of findings. A 29-page bibliography is included. (NB)

This is the first book to examine the relationship between sexual and psychological functioning in terms of its effects on patterns of sexual practice over the lifespan. The authors explore: the impact of both voluntary and involuntary sexual experiences in childhood on adolescent sexual activities; the consequences of childhood and adolescent sexual experiences on women's sexual behaviour in adulthood; and the influence of adult sexual abuse.
