The Noisy Pen by Don McIver Pdf

This eclectic mix of poetry covers a wide variety of topics from poet Don McIver. Serious issues like religion, personal tragedy, hypocrisy, unsuccessful careers, failed relationships, and homelessness mix with the not-so-serious topics of golf, cars, Star Wars, and macaroni to contribute to McIver's quest for self-discovery. The Noisy Pen clearly shows why McIver was voted as runner-up for the 'Best Spoken Word Artist" in 1999 by readers of The Alibi and was chosen as one of the '40 under 40" by The New Mexico Business Weekly. 'McIver's work works. When you have a leak you call a plumber, when you need a poem with no pretension, that rolls up its sleeves and gets the job done you call McIver. He's dependable, he shows up, he's not afraid to get his hands dirty. His poems make you laugh and make you understand the word dedication. Poetry is his job."-Gary Mex Glazner, author of Ears on Fire: Snapshot Essays in a World of Poets and How to Make a Living as a Poet. 'Don builds us his world, which is the mission of a poet, missing nothing in the detail, to pronounce forward in the turn of his words, the tune of his own voice, a world for us to inhabit & share. McIver's joy is articulation, a verbal walking on the Earth in the reality of the best a poet can be."-Larry Goodell, author of Here on Earth.

A Stroke of the Pen by Rick Bozic Pdf

The inspiration for my book started about seven years ago after I suffered a massive stroke that the doctors were amazed that I even survived. Over the course of the next five years my body was ravaged by one major illness after another. I lived through heart surgery while being awake after the doctor's inadvertently hit a nerve which woke me up and they could not get me back under anesthesia. I had to endure the procedure from start to finish wide awake and I can attest to the fact there is no greater pain in the world than being awake during heart surgery. I suffered two more strokes, not nearly as powerful but definitely taking its toll on my brain and left side functions. All told, I had six stroke and two minor strokes. My brain isn't what it used to be but then whose is?

God Sends the Words I Only Hold the Pen by Elaine Long Pdf

A poem is a story and most of the ones found here have a message. Sometimes words come from deep inside. One only has to listen for an honest expression of feelings and words sent from the heart. The contents of this book speak for the writer. As these lines were shared with others, favorable remarks were received that the words helped them in their own life. "God Sends the Words, I Only Hold the Pen" is mostly a collection of poems written to ease the painful path through grief and to glorify God who was there for every step along the way.
