Take Le Cygne, for exam ple. Last year I had, I believe, as large a stock of it as any grower in the United States, and I sold every plant of it, I cared to dispose of at for an undivided root, and I could have sold many more. This year I again have a large stock of it, and asit has been voted by the members of the Peony Society the best Peony in the'world, I realize that when it can be sold at or per root'there will be hundreds and' probably thousands 'of' enthusiasts who-twill want it in their gardens, and so I prefer to keep my plants, to increase for stock to supply the big demand which will materialize in three or four years. I believe that each salable root of it in my garden will increase to at least twelve salable roots within three years, and 011 this variety I am looking to the future demand, rather than for present orders. However, on some other varieties, you will notice that my prices are lower than those quoted by other growers, and on these I feel sure that I will soon sell all my available stock for this year. You will notice that I have already had to withdraw twelve of the scarcest vari eties, and of course I 'will no-t accept orders on the other varieties beyond my ability to fill them.
