Performance Without Compromise by Raymond Mcclure Pdf

"Accuracy is not debatable." This book is a "call for commitment" by Officials to a proper performance while making consistent, accurate rulings. My motivation for this book comes from the fact that I have an absolute genuine concern about THE GAME, and I have for a long time. My concern comes from my belief that officiating basketball is not as difficult as so many among us make it out to be. "Much of what I was taught" during the first half of my career had no rules support, was vague, came with poor advice, and were even philosophical. Those clinicians and trainers who trained me were terrific individuals with a noble effort to teach me the "right way." However, there sure seemed to be many "right ways." Their training was also filled with too much about the "tricks of the trade" and not enough about "the trade." I was never instructed to trust the rules. Over the last four decades, we have become conditioned to accept less and less in the name of style, philosophy, and appearance. We must get all Officials committed to enforcing the rules, and they can't do that if they don't know them. This book is "long overdue" because it is my attempt to let the basketball "world" hear the words of Peter Webb, my mentor and the most knowledgeable person on the planet on the topic of basketball officiating. We know you'll enjoy and benefit from reading this "officiating textbook."

The Three Tensions by Dominic Dodd,Ken Favaro Pdf

A manager argued that he could either increase his business unit's margins or its sales, but not both. His chief executive reminded him of the time when people lived in mud huts and faced the stark choice between light and heat: punch a hole in the side of your hut and you let the daylight in but also the cold, or block up all the openings and you stay warm but sit in darkness. The invention of glass made it possible to overcome the dilemma—to let in the light but not the cold. How then, he asked his manager, will you resolve your dilemma between no sales or no margin improvement? Where is the glass? —From the Introduction "To win, leaders have to push their companies beyond trade-offs. They must find strong growth at premium returns, not one or the other. They must deliver great results today and build for the future at the same time, not push for earnings that can't be sustained. The Three Tensions is about having both at the same time, more of the time. I recommend it to any manager serious about winning." —James Kilts, former chairman, CEO, and president, The Gillette Company "Leadership can't be just about telling people what you expect of them. The Three Tensions sets out a range of helpful tactics leaders can adopt to really engage their people in the search for good performance on many fronts." —Andrew Cosslett, chief executive, InterContinental Hotels Group PLC "The Three Tensions speaks to fundamental management issues, perhaps the most fundamental. Managers looking for new ideas on how to improve performance will find it very stimulating. I found my own thinking very much influenced by it." —John Roberts, professor of economics, strategic management, and international business, Stanford Business School

Performing the Ramayana Tradition by Paula Richman,Rustom Bharucha Pdf

"Performing the Ramayana Tradition: Enactments, Interpretations, and Arguments, edited by Ramayana scholar Paula Richman and Rustom Bharucha, scholar of Theater and Performance Studies, examines diverse retellings of the Ramayana narrative as interpreted and embodied through a spectrum of performances. Unlike previous publications, this book is neither a monograph on a single performance tradition nor a general overview of Indian theatre. Instead, it provides context-specific analyses of selected case studies that explore contemporary enactments of performance traditions and the narratives from which they draw: Kutiyattam, Nangyarkuttu and Kathakali from Kerala; Kattaikkuttu and a "mythological" drama from Tamilnadu; Talamaddale from Karnataka; avant-garde performances from Puducherry and New Delhi; a modern dance-drama from West Bengal; the monastic tradition of Sattriya from Assam; anti-caste plays from North India; and the Ramnagar Ramlila. Apart from the editors' two introductions, which orient readers to the history of Ramayana narratives by Tulsidas, Valmiki, Kamban, Sankaradeva, and others, as well as the performance vocabulary of their enactments, the volume includes many voices, including those of directors, performers, scholars, connoisseurs, and the scholar-abbot of a monastery. It also contains two full scripts of plays, photographs of productions, interviews, conversations, and a glossary of Indian terms. Each essay in the volume, written by an expert in the field, is linked to several others, clustered around shared themes: the politics of caste and gender, the representation of the anti-hero, contemporary re-interpretations of traditional narratives, and the presence of Ramayana discourse in everyday life"--

The Organizational Master Plan Handbook by H. James Harrington,Frank Voehl Pdf

For visionary leaders, an Organizational Master Plan and associated technologies have become essential components of strategic decision making. Written for leaders, planners, consultants, and change agents, The Organizational Master Plan Handbook: A Catalyst for Performance Planning and Results explains how to merge the four planning activities that compose the Organizational Master Plan to manage, improve, and maximize organizational efficiency and effectiveness. Written by recognized leaders in applying Performance Improvement methodologies to business processes and entire organizations, this book defines the makeup and highlights the differences in the operating plan, strategic business plan, strategic improvement plan, and the organization’s business plan. It defines each and explains how to link them to reduce costs and cycle times. Describing how to use controllable factors as the foundation for constructing your Organizational Master Plan, it demonstrates how the plan fits into organizational alignment activities. Examines all the plans that should go on within an organization and details the purpose of each Unveils a novel approach for preparing a Strategic Improvement Plan Lays out a well-defined roadmap of the Organizational Master Plan process Explaining how to make the strategic planning process a part of performance plans for individuals within your organization, the text incorporates sufficient flexibility so you can adapt and revise the plans discussed according to changing business needs and marketplace opportunities. It explains how to develop a set of vision statements to define how your organization will function five years in the future as well as how to develop the strategies needed to make the required transformation a success. Praise for the Book: Harrington and Voehl present the most comprehensive and effective approach to optimizing an organization’s performance developed to date. —Tang Xiaofen, President of the Shanghai Association for Quality & President of the Shanghai Academy of Quality Management Compulsory reading for all leaders to maximize efficiency and effectiveness while navigating business in this risky global economy. —Acn. Shan Ruprai President APQO, National Chairman Australian Organisation for Quality, and Chairman AIBI Australia A Note from the Authors: Organizational Master Plans are tangible and often visible statements of where the organization is now, what it should be in the future and what is required to get there. While processes for developing them vary, master plans are most successful when they represent a vision that brings together the concerns of different interest groups, and their recommendations create a ground swell of business community and political support. Good Organizational Master Plans are flexible, and have involved the business leaders and other stakeholders from the outset, giving the plan a legitimate base, and a better chance to come to fruition. While circumstances vary from place to place, the decision to develop a master plan is often determined by the need to understand the current conditions of the marketplace, to generate and build stakeholder interest and participation, to create a new and common vision for the future, and/or to develop a clear and solid set of recommendations and implementation strategy. Susan Rademacher, executive director of the Louisville Olmsted Parks Conservancy, had this to say about the process of developing Louisville’s Organizational Master Plan: . . .When we got started with our master plan, there were a few important things that we focused on. One was that we started with a belief in the native intelligence of this community, from 1888 forward. And we invited the public to really dream about what these parks could be, what they remembered the parks as, and we tried to change expectations in that way. Typically in the past, ...the little changes that come about in parks are politically motivated to get a big bang in the short term for the next election. And ... our parks were suffering from that. So when we invited the community to dream large, we changed the expectations and also changed the expectations of what the public sector was looking to do.

Bridging Organization Design and Performance by Gregory Kesler,Amy Kates Pdf

Five practical steps to enhance organization effectiveness on a global scale Bridging Organization Design and Performance is a handbook for leaders looking to enhance the success of their organizations and themselves. Companies that compete globally require organizational operating models as robust as their strategies. Many companies have created elegant designs and consider their worldwide, matrix organizations sources of competitive advantage. However, the reality is that these complex structures bring many challenges and senior executives are often frustrated by the difficulties of delivering growth in organizations that span numerous brands, products, and geographic regions. After working closely with over twenty large US and Europe based global companies during the past decade, Gregory Kesler and Amy Kates concluded that the problem is not in the fundamental design of these operating models. The matrix is not going away. The challenge is to effectively and completely activate the organization to deliver the strategy. This book shares the five practical actions that bring complex organizations to life and help companies gain sustainable results from their global operating models.
