The Phantom Patrol by L. Ron Hubbard Pdf

Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer Johnny Trescott is as smart, tough, and fearless as they come. But he’s about to lose everything—his boat, his freedom, and his identity. Long before Tom Hanks as Captain Phillips fell into the hands of modern-day pirates, Johnny faced the same high-stakes action on the high seas. Johnny’s mission is to track down drug runners in the Gulf of Mexico, and he’s got his eye on the biggest fish of all—Georges Coquelin. But an SOS from a downed plane that’s sinking fast leads him straight to disaster. . . . Coquelin springs a trap. Stranding Johnny and the plane’s passengers on a deserted island, the drug smuggler commandeers Johnny’s boat and his name. In the company of a weak-kneed millionaire and a long-legged beauty, Johnny’s at the end of his rope—which could turn into a noose around his neck. He’s got nothing left to lose . . . and there’s nothing he won’t do to reclaim his reputation. The Phantom Patrol marked a turning point in L. Ron Hubbard’s fiction. In writing this story he recognized the vital importance of research and realism. To that end, Hubbard toured Coast Guard vessels and interviewed officers who were actually involved in chasing down drug smugglers. The resulting authenticity and success of the tale was a sign of things to come. Phantom by Philip Warner Pdf

The story of the shadowy special reconnaissance unit whose intelligence helped the Allies win World War II. It operated in Italy, Sicily, Austria, France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. It was at Dieppe with the Commandos, in France with the SAS, at Arnhem with Airborne, and in Germany until the surrender. Phantom—aka GHQ Liaison Regiment—was one of the most secret and most effective of the wartime special regiments. It was formed in 1939 with the mission of finding out exactly where all the Allied forward positions were—a task which required linguistic ability, unlimited tact, and radio expertise. After Dunkirk, its squadrons at first kept an eye on all invasion points, before deploying to Greece and to the Middle East. An indispensable direct communication link between the forward patrols and command headquarters, its members were as varied and colorful as its tasks. Among them were a Cambridge college postgraduate, three professors, a famous actor-playwright, a film star, a famous sculptor, a steward of the Jockey Club, a commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, and numerous authors and journalists. This fascinating history goes beyond Phantom’s aura of mystery and shows how it was so successful in its role of tracking both allied and enemy movements and relaying vital information direct to commanders.

2 General Headquarters Liaison Regiment Central Mediterranean by Asher PIRT Pdf

General Headquarters Liaison Regiment reported battlefield information straight to high level Intelligence and Operations Staff. This information consisted of everything a Commander needed to make decisions to win the battle. All commanders need to be aware of up to date and accurate information on what is happening on the frontline. GHQ Liaison Regiment gathered information by sending patrols and by communications intercept of units engaged in battle. This history tells the story of the background to the formation of 2 GHQ Liaison Regiment. The hard work of the unit has not completely been recognised by historians of the Second World War and perhaps this helps fill the gap in our knowledge. During the War the unit was greatly appreciated by all Allied unit in the Mediterranean and North West Europe campaigns. Without the service provided by the unit the Allies would have struggled to win the War.

Indrajal Comics 001 - 015 The Phantom by Lee Falk Pdf

Indrajal Comics began publishing self-titled monthly issues in March 1964. Each of the first 10 issues had 16 pages of Phantom comics. The stories had to be edited to fit this short format. The remaining 12 pages were dedicated to other content, similar to Gold Key's style. In the next 19 issues it became 20-24 pages. As the series continued, different characters would share the spotlight. Characters such as Flash Gordon, Mandrake the Magician, Bahadur, Kerry Drake, Rip Kirby, Garth, Mike Nomad and Buz Sawyer appeared - as well as Disney characters Robin Hood and Mickey Mouse along with Goofy, but the majority of the series spotlighted The Phantom. So much so that the series is often erroneously referred to as "The Phantom" instead of the correct "Indrajal Comics". In due course the publication became fortnightly and then weekly by 1981. The numbering of books which was simply sequential in the beginning then changed to have the typical volume and a number. Indrajal Comics #444 was labeled as Vol.20 and No.1. The front cover design changed with distinct banner containing the title "Indrajal Comics" with a small circle showing the face of the main charracter. A total of 803 Indrajal Comics were published, excluding #123 and #124 which were not printed due to industrial strike action. More than half of these issues contained Phantom stories. The publishing stopped in 1990. The cover artwork for the first 50 or so issues of Indrajal Comics was done by B.Govind, with the back cover featuring a pin-up poster. His artwork became very popular and even said to have matched the artwork on the covers of international phantom publications such as Gold key or Frew. To avoid confusion among Indian readers, there were some minor changes done to the name of the Phantom's location and some characters in stories published in Indrajal Comics. The term " Bengali" or "Bengalla" or "Bengal" was changed to "Denkali" and in some issues "Dangalla" as well. This was since there is a state called "Bengal" in India and this may lead the readers to wonder about the "Pygmy" people that don't exist in Bengal. The name of the "Singh Brotherhood" was changed to "Singa Brotherhood" and the killer of the father of the current (21st) Phantom was changed from "Rama" to "Ramalu" although the latter too is one of the common names in India. Apart from English, Indrajal Comics published the stories in at least a dozen other Indian languages including Hindi, Bengali, Tamil and Kannada. Contents: Indrajal Comics #15 The Unknown Commander May 1, 1965 Indrajal Comics #14 The Mystery Of The Rattle April 1, 1965 Indrajal Comics #13 The Phantom And Samaris March 1, 1965 Indrajal Comics #12 The Phantom Is Chained February 1, 1965 Indrajal Comics #11 The Phantom's Treasure January 1, 1965 Indrajal Comics #10 The Phantom's Ring December 1, 1964 Indrajal Comics #9 Thugs in Denkali November 1, 1964 Indrajal Comics #8 The Playmate October 1, 1964 Indrajal Comics #7 The Man-Eating Plant September 1, 1964 Indrajal Comics #6 The Lunar Cult August 1, 1964 Indrajal Comics #5 The Phantom's Isle Of Eden July 1, 1964 Indrajal Comics #4 The Phantom And The Impostor June 1, 1964 Indrajal Comics #3 The Challenge Of Cannibals May 1, 1964 Indrajal Comics #2 Prince Orq April 1, 1964 Indrajal Comics #1 The Phantom's Belt March 1, 1964 This collection was only possible thanks to all the comic fans around the world! Please note that these are scans of old comic books & as such will show wear & tear with age, most fans feel this only adds to the experience but if you are looking for perfect copies unfortunately they do not exist, we believe this is the best available.

Only with clear and trusted communications can commanders support, control, and lead their units and soldiers. The evolution of electrical communications in the last 150 years has been one of the most important developments humanity has ever witnessed. As the advantages that from ever more complex equipment became apparent the need for a technical arm of the Army, who specialised in communication systems, became apparent. The Royal Corps of Signals was founded in 1920 and since its founding the Corps has been leading the development of communications; delivering them in a variety of operational theatres.

Poverty Row Studios, 1929-1940 by Michael R. Pitts Pdf

From the beginning of the sound era until the end of the 1930s, independent movie-making thrived. Many of the independent studios were headquartered in a section of Hollywood called "Poverty Row." Here the independents made movies on the cheap, usually at rented facilities where shooting was limited to only a few days. From Allied Pictures Corporation to Willis Kent Production, 55 Poverty Row Studios are given histories in this book. Some of the studios, such as Diversion Pictures and Cresent Pictures, came into existence for the sole purpose of releasing movies by established stars. Others, for example J.D. Kendis, were early exploitation filmmakers under the guise of sex education. The histories include critical commentary on the studio's output and a filmography of all titles released from 1929 through 1940.
