Images of the Spirit by Meredith G. Kline Pdf

The underlying concept developed here is the paradigmatic function of the theophanic Glory-cloud in the creation of the image of God. Dr. Kline identifies the major symbolic models employed in Scripture to expound the nature of the divine image in humanity - the priestly and the prophetic.

Images of the Spirit by Dale Larsen,Sandy Larsen Pdf

How do you picture the Holy Spirit? Our imagination is likely to run to something like a vague fuzzy cloud. Or perhaps we think of an invisible, impersonal force. No wonder the Holy Spirit is often called "it." While Christians affirm that the Spirit is the third person of the Trinity, we struggle to think of him as a person at all. The Bible is clear that the Holy Spirit is a person. But how can human beings understand who he is? Scripture helps us by giving us strong word pictures of the Spirit as wind, fire, a counselor, anointing oil and more. As you go through these eight-session LifeGuide® Bible Study by Dale and Sandy Larsen, you will find that your mental picture of the Spirit comes into focus. And even better, you will find that you can have a real relationship with the third person of the Trinity as you experience the power, comfort and gifts that flow out from the Spirit. For over three decades LifeGuide Bible Studies have provided solid biblical content and raised thought-provoking questions—making for a one-of-a-kind Bible study experience for individuals and groups. This series has more than 130 titles on Old and New Testament books, character studies, and topical studies. Pictures of the Spirit by David T. Williams Pdf

On the day of Pentecost, there was the sound as of a great wind, and what appeared to be tongues of fire appeared... Particularly since the start of the twentieth century, the Christian world has been in turmoil over the experiences that the Holy Spirit has given to many Christians. But few understand who it is who is producing such a tremendous effect; after all, unlike Jesus, we cannot see the Spirit! Here the Bible does give a lot of help by describing the Spirit in ways that we understand, such as wind, fire or a dove. These illustrations are explained, and suggestions are made for a number of others, both from the ancient and modern worlds. To better understand what the Spirit does, we need to better understand who he is; this book does just that.

The Case For Spirit Photography by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Pdf

"Can the camera show us those who have passed on? Yes!" Arthur Conan Doyle said upon publishing The Case For Spirit Photography in 1923. The book offers a thorough account of his own experiences with spirit photography and those of others. The first spirit photographer, William Mumler, began working in Boston in 1861. Faint figures believed to be lost loved ones appeared in photos behind those sitting in front of the camera. Over the years, Mumler took thousands of spirit photographs, including one of Mary Todd Lincoln showing the assassinated president behind her. P.T. Barnum, always one to enjoy a good humbug, was intrigued as well and displayed several Mumler photographs in his American Museum. But with growing success came more skeptics. And eventually, some of them noticed that several spirits were actually people still living. By 1869, the police were on the case and claimed Mumler was swindling people out of their money. The spirit photographer went to court, supported by the Spiritualist community who maintained their belief that he was innocent and genuine. Mumler was exonerated when no one could prove he'd faked his photos. His legal troubles ultimately hurt his business, but spirit photography lived on through other mediums wielding otherworldly cameras. Doyle believed many of them to be genuine and often came to the defense of photographers accused of fraud. He had been one of Spiritualism's loudest and best-known evangelists in the early twentieth century. He, and its millions of followers, believed that we never die-we merely move on to another plane that could amazingly be captured on film. The author's good friend, Harry Houdini, spent many years exposing fraudulent mediums that capitalized on Spiritualism and people's willingness to believe that the dead could talk. One example was spirit photographer Alexander Martin of Denver, Colorado. Doyle told Houdini that he was "a very wonderful man in his particular line." So the magician paid him a visit, and once inside the studio he attempted to explore the dark room. After a few secretive photographic shenanigans, Martin shared some ghosts. Houdini concluded the photos were simply double exposures. "From a logical, rational point of view, Spirit photography is a most barefaced imposition and stands as evidence of the credulity of those who are in sympathy with the superstitions of occultism," he wrote in 1924's A Magician Among the Spirits. "It is also evidence of how unscrupulous mediums become and how calloused their consciences." Doyle clearly disagreed. Genuine or not, the stories presented within these pages are fascinating and a hundred years later the photos remain extraordinary. And they are faithfully reproduced as published in 1923.

The Strange Case of William Mumler, Spirit Photographer by Louis Kaplan Pdf

In the 1860s, William Mumler photographed ghostsa or so he claimed. Faint images of the dearly departed lurked in the background with the living, like his well-known photo of the recently assassinated Abraham Lincoln comforting Mary Todd. The practice came to be known as spirit photography, and some believed Mumler was channeling the dead. Skeptics, however, called it a fraudulent trick on the gullible, taking advantage of the grieving at a time of suffering and loss. Mumlera s insistence that his work brought back the dead led to a sensational trial in 1869 that was the talk of the nation.

Gifts Of The Holy Spirit by Ashish Raichur Pdf

The Lord’s desire is for all believers to be endued with and demonstrate the power of the Holy Spirit to bear witness to who He is. We are to be His witnesses everywhere, and always. The gifts of the Spirit are like our “toolbox,” containing tools given to us to manifest the power of the Holy Spirit, so that the Lord Jesus will be glorified, and people will be touched, ministered to, and transformed, everywhere we go. The Holy Spirit distributes and manifests these gifts as He wills. But as co-workers with Him, we must earnestly desire these gifts and we must learn how to yield, cooperate, and properly release these gifts so that people will be ministered to as He desires, and Jesus will be glorified. Often, because we do not know how to cooperate with the Holy Spirit, we either quench, grieve or even resist His expressions through us. This book is intended to be a simple and easy to use training manual to help believers understand and learn how to flow with the Holy Spirit to release the gifts of the Spirit. The goal is to see believers moving and releasing the gifts of the Spirit regularly, anywhere, and at any time as the Spirit of the Lord moves through them.
