Heart and Soul is a collection of poems on all things beautiful - love, friendship, nature and much more. The poems are simple in nature and come straight from the heart. The book explores the themes that are close to the poet’s heart and soul and wraps up her emotions. Excerpt: Love can be seen in someone’s eyes Love at first sight never lies It’s the feeling that you can’t portray True love is something that can never decay Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words – By Robert Frost
This extraordinary celebration of the poet's craft opens the attentive reader's heart to the world of the spirit. Author/compilers Judith Valente and Charles Reynard, noted poets themselves, share elected poems that probe the classic themes of the spiritual life.
My first encounter with poetry was a dark time in my life. There was no electricity in my household, so I had a candle in my room for light. Here is where my first poem light by night would be created. Poetry has given me a chance to express what I was feeling emotionally outside my love for art and music. It was expressions that I couldn't materialize on canvas or on an instrument. Poetry is a broader image for me; it allowed me to go places I've longed to go as far as reality or imaginary. I've always loved to write since high school. My English and writing teacher said "I told good stories but couldn't get to main idea quick enough", so with poetry I was able to get my point across in a shorter time. I love to play with words making them rhyme was lots of fun. My classmates asked, "How do you find words to rhyme with all the time? I replied it's like matching a pair of pants with shoes or a shirt with a tie. During college a friend of mine introduced me to rapping, He simply said try saying your poems to a rhythm along with drum patterns. So I did, it was like Miles Davis' the birth of the cool, just experimenting with different rhythms and changes. I never stopped writing poetry since. I finally found my true love.

Of the heart and soul—a mellifluous whisper by Piyali Mitra Pdf
This anthology abounds in the feeling of love-- Love has always been the source of inspiration for the countless poems and thoughtful scribbling made by lovers and admirers, but few poems are written analyzing the concept and how to feel to be in love. This book speaks of how love can be the source of inspiration at the same time the source of abjection. Rejection and dejection can push one to a corner while love can uplift and transcend a mind from one realm to another. This garland of verses as the author would love to call is also a memory book remembering the various emotions her mother has been subjected to. Some lines and verses of this book speak the loudest and most directly and others have reflection of vibrant imagery and artful characters. Some lines have divine intonation while others draw heavily from mundane life. The book has tried to capture the colors, aroma and essences of water, land, mountains, seasons and even leaves. Every object of Nature has their own language. This book has made an attempt to communicate that subtle language through verses. The book contains some illustrations.
Ten Poems to Open Your Heart is a book devoted to love: to the intimacy of personal love and lovemaking, to a loving compassion for others, and to the love that embraces both this world and the next. This new volume from Roger Housden features a few of the same poets as his extraordinarily moving Ten Poems to Change Your Life, such as Mary Oliver and Pablo Neruda, along with contributions from Sharon Olds, Wislawa Szymborska, Czeslaw Milosz, Denise Levertov, and others. Any one of the ten poems and, indeed, any one of Housden’s reflections on them, can open, gladden, or pierce your heart. Through the voices of these ten inspiring poets, and through illustrations from his own life, Housden expresses the tenderness, beauty, joys, and sorrows of love, the presence of which, more than anything else, gives human existence its meaning. As Housden says in his eloquent introduction, “Great poetry happens when the mind is looking the other way and words fall from the sky to shape a moment that would normally be untranslatable. . . . When the heart opens, we forget ourselves and the world pours in: this world, and also the invisible world of meaning that sustains everything that was and ever shall be.” From the Hardcover edition.
