100 Poems Is Not Enough by LaJuan Broadneaux-Archer Pdf

It was 1982, I had just discovered Reggae music (after Bob Marley’s passing), and I heard a song that changed my life for the better. The song was “Chant a Psalm a Day” by a Reggae band , Steel Pulse. Listening carefully to the lyrics of that song revived my love for writing poetry, which I had all but abandoned since 9th grade English class. So the poem “100 Poems Is Not Enough” was written and I decided this should be the title of this book of poems because this speaks so much to how I feel. Hopefully this collection of mostly short, direct to the point, plain and simple Praise Poems will comfort you and inspire you to Praise God with any and all the talents that God has given you.

Conflict Resolution for Holy Beings: Poems by Joy Harjo Pdf

A musical, magical, resilient volume from the first Native American Poet Laureate of the United States. In these poems, the joys and struggles of the everyday are played against the grinding politics of being human. Beginning in a hotel room in the dark of a distant city, we travel through history and follow the memory of the Trail of Tears from the bend in the Tallapoosa River to a place near the Arkansas River. Stomp dance songs, blues, and jazz ballads echo throughout. Lost ancestors are recalled. Resilient songs are born, even as they grieve the loss of their country. Called a "magician and a master" (San Francisco Chronicle), Joy Harjo is at the top of her form in Conflict Resolution for Holy Beings. Finalist for the Griffin Poetry Prize

In Praise of Him by Celia V. Bell Pdf

The poems and verses in this book are written to give glory, honor, and praise to God our Father, and to Jesus Christ, his son. Through them and in them is revealed all the wonderment of God; all that he is, his love, his mercy, his grace, his kindness, his sovereignty, his power, and majesty. Mere words cannot express the greatness and the goodness of God. Nevertheless, to that end these writings are done, that God be exalted, magnified and glorified. My hope and prayer is that something written herein might point someone to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Arsenal with Praise Song by Rodney Gómez Pdf

Rodney Gómez's Arsenal With Praise Song somehow manages to yoke together lament and celebration, reproach and veneration across the borders of eras and nations. Set in the stark desert landscape of the México-U.S. border all too familiar to so many refugees and migrants, these poems scrutinize human bodies and the body of the earth as the sites of great injustices and violences-political, social, and spiritual-and as the vehicles that carry our collective legacy generation to generation.

Donne's Anniversaries and the Poetry of Praise by Barbara Kiefer Lewalski Pdf

In his occasional poetry, and especially in his two elegaic Anniversary poems, Donne created a special symbolic mode in seventeenth-century poetry of praise and compliment. Barbara Kiefer Lewalski's reading of the Anniversary poems recognizes them as complex mixed-genre works which weld together formal, thematic, and structural elements from the occasional poem of praise, the funeral elegy, the funeral sermon, the hymn, the anatomy, and the Protestant meditation. Focusing especially on theme and structure, her reading demonstrates the coherent symbolic method and meaning of these poems and also their careful logical articulation, both as individual poems and as companion pieces. Essentially, the author discovers their thorough and precise exploration, through the poetic means of figure and symbol, of the nature of man and the conditions of human life. In order to discuss the significant contexts for and influences on the Anniversary poems, the author has studied sixteenth- and seventeenth-century epideictic theory and practice, Protestant meditation, Biblical hermencutics, and funeral sermons. She is also concerned with the effect of the poems, and of Donne's other writings of a similar kind, on contemporary and subsequent developments in the poetry of praise, especially that of Marvell and Dryden. This is a lucid and learned book that provides a major context for the Anniversary poems and gives new significance to the designation of Donne as a Metaphysical poet. Originally published in 1973. Poems of Praise and Worship by Shane Anders Pdf

Most people would define poetry as the rhythm of words or the rambling of one's thoughts. To me, it is not just making words rhyme or the ramblings of thoughts, but rather, putting into words and expressing the deepest feelings of a person's heart. To be enjoyed, poems do not have to contain any type of rhythmic beat, but rather, an arrangement of verses to convey to us beauty and eloquence. For example, Hebrew poetry in the Old Testament, from the book of Job through Song of Solomon, was written to show us the love, wisdom and the awesome power of the almighty God. The poems which I have written were inspired from verses recorded in the Bible. It is my hope that this book will encourage the Christian believer to develop and exercise a spiritual discipline in their every day walk with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
