Pop up and Go by Carl Leckey Pdf

Carl Leckey is the youngest of three children. He grew up in wartime Britain and loved the excitement of having Italian prisoners of war in the area. His time as a kid was spent collecting shrapnel and clambering around the shipwrecks on the shore of the Mersey. One of his favourite places was his grandfathers allotment where old World War One comrades would meet in the garden shed to share a drink and a smoke. Carl served on the Mersey tugs for 15 years with a break for two years National Service from the age of 19 to 21. On returning to the tugs he rose to the rank of Mate, before being made redundant at the age of 30 in 1968 when the company was taken over. He then worked as a Leading Lock Keeper for British Waterways in Cheshire for 28 years until ill health brought premature retirement. He was a Union Steward Convenor, and Worker Representative on the Company Pension Fund Management Committee. In 1985 he was awarded a Winston Churchill Travelling Fellowship to study Ports and Harbour Services on the Mississippi and Yangtze Rivers in the USA and China. In 1995 he was awarded an MBE for services to British Waterways. After completing a writers course with the Open College of Art Carl began writing novels on a variety of subjects publishing in New Zealand. United Kingdom and United States of America. Until failing health due mainly to arthritis Carl and his wife Rose travelled the world extensively visiting friends and family in a number of countries. Pop up and Go is the second book the author has written for children. The story was inspired by a news item the author heard while travelling through the USA. Most of Carls books are also available as an E book. See his other books and reviews by visiting Carls website. www.carlleckey.co.uk

The Beauty of Conflict for Couples by CrisMarie Campbell,Susan B. Clarke Pdf

“Genius . . . will teach you how to transform your conflict into closeness. A beautiful read for anyone in a relationship they want to take higher.” —Regena Thomashauer, New York Times bestselling author If left unresolved, sources of disconnect—from bad breath to infidelity—can lead to major rifts and smother the spark in a relationship. Authors CrisMarie Campbell and Susan Clarke bring over twenty years of experience in family and marriage counseling and relationship coaching to this book. They cater their advice to romantic relationships and provide resolution strategies for women and men. With conflict comes the chance to communicate and solve problems together. This can restore a sense of intimacy and connection with our partner, both emotionally and physically. In The Beauty of Conflict for Couples, you will find: · Relatable stories that shed light on the common struggles of romantic relationships · Practical tools that offer guidance for addressing conflict · A source of hope for relationships that appear to be fated for failure “The Beauty of Conflict for Couples is a knock-your-socks-off book for anyone who has ever struggled with intimacy, vulnerability, and the longing to make this relationship work even when it seems impossible . . . This book is readable (I couldn’t put it down!), funny, warm, practical, and powerful.” —Ann Weiser Cornell, author of The Radical Acceptance of Everything and The Power of Focusing

Long-term Retention of Infant Memories by Robyn Fivush Pdf

This special issue of Memory brings together some of the most exciting new research on infant memory. Using innovative research designs, the five studies presented here are addressing questions of central importance to understanding the development of human memory. In particular, the studies seek to discover whether, and if so under what conditions, memories of events experienced during infancy are retained over the preschool years. Research questions include how long retention of early memories may persist, what form these memories may take, the role of language and language development, and the role of intervening experience in the retention of early memories. The results provide provocative evidence that experiences occurring even during the first year of life may be retained in some form for at least several years. However, much of this memory is expressed more as familiarity than as explicit recall. The researchers and commentator present different theoretical views about what these results mean and the conclusions we may or may not be able to draw. Although many questions remain unanswered, the researchers contributing to this volume are on the edge of making important new discoveries about human memory and its development.

Top of the Pops 50th Anniversary by Patrick Humphries Pdf

'It's Number One... it's Top Of The Pops', for every generation from 1964, until the show ended in 2006, that was the sentence every young television viewer sat down to hear. At its peak, a quarter of the UKs entire population was watching. 'Top Of The Pops' was the pivotal pop television programme over its 2,000 weekly episodes, the programme gave peak airtime to every act, from The Beatles to Beyonce... from Cream to Coldplay... from Pink Floyd to Pink! From its humble beginnings in 1964 from a disused church through to the programme's pan-global appeal in the 1990s, 'Top Of The Pops' became synonymous with the best in pop television. This book tells the incredible story of 'Top of the Pops'. It is not just the story of a long-running television programme. The story of 'Top of the Pops' is the story of British popular music. It is a shadow history of British rock & roll, and beyond. It is the story of how a 6-week show turned into a pan-global phenomenon and how for 40 years, 'Top of the Pops' was a British institution. With a span of nearly half a century, there are so many highlights: The Beatles only live appearance, in 1966, promoting Paperback Writer... the Who getting banned... the first colour edition in 1969... David Bowie's breakthrough performance of Starman in 1972... Nirvana's chaotic 1991 appearance promoting Smells Like Teen Spirit... the Blur versus Oasis battle... Justin Timberlake playing bass with the Flaming Lips in 2003... 'Top Of The Pops II' was launched in 1994, bringing the programme to a whole new audience. Around the same time, the BBC licensed the 'Top Of The Pops' brand to over 90 countries, with an estimated audience of 100 million. Though it ceased broadcasting in 2006, thanks to the internet, compilation CDs; and repeated viewing on BBC4... 'Top Of The Pops' lives on.
