Powder Metallurgy by G. Dowson Pdf
Powder metallurgy, commonly designated by its initial letters asPM or PM, may be defined as the production of useful artefacts from metal powder without passing through the molten state. This introductory text examines the processes by which these powders are produced, and explores their behaviour in the subsequent consolidation stages.

Advances in powder metallurgy by H. Danninger,C. Gierl-Mayer Pdf
Ferrous powder metallurgy (PM) makes up the majority of powder metallurgy products with regard to tonnage. Improving performance is the main trend for pressed and sintered parts, in particular the introduction of cost-effective alloy elements such as Cr and Mn. Furthermore, much can be gained in ferrous PM by elaborate secondary operations. In metal injection moulding (MIM) products, there is a clear trend towards increasingly complex shapes and microsized parts. PM tool steels offer a much finer and fully isotropic microstructure compared to their wrought counterparts and the carbide content may be much higher, resulting in excellent application properties.

Powder Metallurgy of Iron and Steel by Randall M. German Pdf
A comprehensive guide to current practices Powder metallurgy processes increasingly dominate the production of iron and steel components for a variety of machines, appliances, automobiles, and tools. These processes yield high-quality precision components, recycle scrap metals into useful powders, and consume less energy than traditional manufacturing methods. Despite the tremendous growth in this area, however, until now there has been no guide on practical issues in the field. Powder Metallurgy of Iron and Steel fills the need for a fundamental, nonmathematical treatment of this technology. Focusing on the most useful applications and the advantages of different production techniques, this systematic, self-contained volume provides serious help in tackling production problems on the factory floor. It covers the gamut of practical topics, from injection molding and compaction processes to sintering, full-density processes, heat treatments, finishing operations, and the mechanical properties of many products, including die-compacted steels. Written by a leading authority and designer of educational programs for the industry, Powder Metallurgy of Iron and Steel: Emphasizes current practices and real engineering materials in everyday manufacturing processes Keeps the mathematics simple, boxing the calculations outside the main body of text Includes research articles and trade information from a variety of sources Features numerous pictures and flow diagrams Includes an appendix with an extensive list of definitions This important tutorial for an expanding work force is accessible to scientists and engineers alike, as well as technicians, production supervisors, designers, consultants, and marketing personnel. It is also an excellent textbook for undergraduate and industrial courses.

Ball Milled Nano-Structured Stainless Steel Powders by Shashanka R,Debasis Chaira Pdf
Chapter 1 discusses about introduction of different types of stainless steel and ball milling methods. This chapter also explains the mill fabrication, mill mechanics. Chapter 2 contains the synthesis of nano-structured duplex and ferritic stainless steel powders by dual drive planetary ball mill. Chapter 3 comprises of detail study of optimization of milling parameters such as process controlling agents, ball to powder weight ratio, milling speed and milling atmospheres on particle size, phases and morphology of stainless steel powders. Chapter 4 explains the fabrication of yttria dispersed and yttria free duplex and ferritic stainless steel by conventional and SPS methods and the detail study of effect of yttria addition, sintering temperature, sintering atmosphere and sintering methods on the morphology, phase transformation, density and hardness of duplex and ferritic stainless steel. Chapter 5 explains the non-lubricated sliding wear behaviour of nano-yttria dispersed and yttria free duplex and ferritic stainless steel fabricated by conventional and SPS techniques against a diamond indenter. Chapter 6 consists of the corrosion studies of SPS consolidated yttria dispersed and yttria free duplex and ferritic stainless steel by linear sweep voltammetry. In chapter 7, we discussed the electrochemical sensitivity applications of duplex and yttria dispersed duplex stainless steel powders in detecting biologically active compounds like folic acid. This chapter includes the optimization of electrochemical properties such as concentration of analyte, pH, scan rate and concentration of modifiers to study the electrocatalytic properties of duplex and yttria dispersed duplex stainless steel.

Stainless Steel by Animesh Kumar Basak Pdf
Stainless steel, termed as the "miracle metal" is all around us in numerous applications ranging from everyday household items to sophisticated biomedical applications. Stainless steel is one of the fastest growing segments in metal industries. New developments and a wide range of research on stainless steel is taking place all around the world in order to obtain superior quality stainless steel and expand its applications to meet growing demands. Taking those facts into account, this book is compiles recent developments in the properties, applications and further processing of stainless steel and recent research trends. The book includes high-tech characterisation techniques of stainless steel to address the decomposition behaviour; decomposition-induced transformation to the correlated property-microstructure; powder metallurgy to produce difficult-to-cast stainless steel components, depassivation / repassivation behaviour, various surface treatment processes as well as a wide range of machining techniques to address the need of machinability of stainless steel.
