This fifth volume on Advances and Applications of DSmT for Information Fusion collects theoretical and applied contributions of researchers working in different fields of applications and in mathematics, and is available in open-access. This chapter presents a new approach for solving the paradoxical Blackman’s association problem. It utilizes a new class of fusion rules based on fuzzy T-conorm/T-norm operators together with Dezert-Smarandache theory and the relative variations of generalized pignistic probabilities measure of correct associations defined from a partial ordering function of hyper-power set. The ability of this approach to solve the problem against the classical DempsterShafer’s method, proposed in the literature is proven. It is shown that the approach improves the separation power of the decision process for this association problem.

In this paper, the theory of plausible and paradoxical reasoning of Dezert- Smarandache (DSmT) is used to take into account the paradoxical character through the intersections of vegetation, aquatic and mineral surfaces. In order to do this, we developed a classification model of pixels by aggregating information using the DSmT theory based on the PCR5 rule using the NDVI, MNDWI and NDBaI spectral indices obtained from the ASTER satellite images.

Multi-sensor fusion strategies have been widely applied in Human Activity Recognition (HAR) in Body Sensor Networks (BSNs). However, the sensory data collected by BSNs systems are often uncertain or even incomplete. Thus, designing a robust and intelligent sensor fusion strategy is necessary for highquality activity recognition. In this paper, Dezert-Smarandache Theory (DSmT) is used to develop a novel sensor fusion strategy for HAR in BSNs, which can effectively improve the accuracy of recognition. Specifically, in the training stage, the Kernel Density Estimation (KDE) based models are first built and then precisely selected for each specific activity according to the proposed discriminative functions.
