Proceedings of the 27th International Symposium on Advancement of Construction Management and Real Estate by Jing Li,Weisheng Lu,Yi Peng,Hongping Yuan,Daikun Wang Pdf

This book presents the proceedings of CRIOCM 2022 (27th International Conference on Advancement of Construction Management and Real Estate), sharing the latest developments in real estate and construction management around the globe. The conference was organized by the Chinese Research Institute of Construction Management (CRIOCM) working in close collaboration with The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Written by international academics and professionals, the book discusses the latest achievements, research findings, and advances in frontier disciplines in the field of construction management and real estate. Covering a wide range of topics, including spatial planning and land use innovation, integration and application of BIM and GIS, low-carbon built environment, post-pandemic resilient cities development, housing and social governance, real estate market and urban policy, real estate finance and economics, intelligent construction and smart city, built environment for healthy living, and construction management in the post-COVID-19 era, the discussions provide valuable insights into the implementation of advanced construction project management and real estate market in China and abroad. The book offers an outstanding resource for academics and professionals

GIS and Remote Sensing Applications in Biogeography and Ecology by Andrew C. Millington,Stephen J. Walsh,Patrick E. Osborne Pdf

In recent years, the conservation of tropical forests has received worldwide publicity whereas effective forest management, particularly for timber extraction, has attracted little attention and gained some notoriety. The overall aim of the present paper was to examine how environmental micro-variation in the Chiquibul Forest Reserve of Belize can influence species distribution and thereby inform management strategy. The paper deals first with the background to forest management in Belize, then considers the methodology used in the present study and fin~~ly assesses the preliminary results. The specific objectives are: (1) to assess the effects of changing scale on the variability of selected individual soil properties in forest plots within the same vegetation class; and (2) to examine the variation in soil properties and tree species distribution, and to integrate environmental and ecological data over a range of scales. BACKGROUND Whereas the global and regional distribution of tropical forests is broadly governed by climatic and altitudinal variation, individual forest tracts need to consider a range of other, locally important factors to explain species distribution and change. With very high species diversity, tropical forests present a major challenge in the attempt to unravel controlling factors in distribution and growth (Swaine et aI. 1987). Research that attempts to explain diversity has looked at species distribution according to a range of factors, with a general recognition that soil fertility plays a significant if ill defined role (Swaine 1996).

Applied Remote Sensing for Urban Planning, Governance and Sustainability by Maik Netzband,William L. Stefanov,Charles Redman Pdf

This evaluation of the potential of remote sensing of urban areas helps to close a gap between the research-focused results offered by the "urban remote sensing" community, and the application of these data and products by the governing bodies of cities and urban regions. The authors present data from six urban regions worldwide. They explain what the important questions are, and how data and scientific skills can help answer them.
