Psychological Warfare and India by Dr Arunkumar Bhatt Pdf

Wars are born in human mind. Great military leaders belonging to all times and cultures have always tried to influence the minds of their foes and friends alike to facilitate their own victories by making their enemies hesitant. The minds concerned could be influenced with a variety of overt and covert actions that send right signals to the target audiences. In the words of Allied Supreme Commander of the World War II, Gen. Dwight Eisenhower, these actions are: anything from the singing of a beautiful anthem to the most extraordinary kind of physical sabotage. This is Psychological Warfare and the most preferred action is communication. Dr. Arunkumar Bhatt, who being a defence journalist knows nuances of communication and unfolds here this soft-kill strategy and its tactics. He traces the history of the psychological warfare to establish how steadily its importance has grown. It became a war winning factor in the Great War and its role further expanded in the World War II. The Psywar as it has come to be known among many names has not looked back since then. The advances in science and technology, revolution in communication and information technologies have greatly enhanced the range and effectiveness of the psychological warfare in terms of both, time and space. The Revolution in Military Affairs has been further sharpening the Psywar weapons. Dedicated Psywar units and even commands backed by elements in formation staff are in the vogue. The Psychological Warfare has now found a place among ‘war by other means.’ It is recognised as a command function and is factored in planning at all levels. It is so important that the decision to deploy the psy-weapons is taken at the top echelon of the high command and this is done much ahead of the breaking out of hostilities. Where does India that has a poor strategic culture and still poorer awareness about its security, stand vis-à-vis Psywar? Indian culture has instances of the Psywar. It was being practised in the ancient period. Kautilya recommends it strongly. Different invaders used it. The British practised it in an institutionalised fashion to rule India. India did counter the British psywar but in a rather ‘irregular’ way. India used it successfully in some of the post-independence wars but the country needs to do much more to protect itself against Psywar attacks and to use it effectively to enhance its own security in the present day multi-threat scenario. This is an attempt to table a calling attention motion before the nation.

Propaganda and Psychological Warfare by Terence H. Qualter Pdf

There have always been propagandists, some extremely skilled, but the continuing, institutionalized, large-scale attempt at mass political persuasion is a modern phenomenon, not fully developed before the First World War. The study of propaganda is even more recent for, apart from a few pioneering works at the turn of the present century, very little was written before 1930. Professor Qualter discusses the historical development and use, up to and including the Cold War era, of the deliberate attempts by political groups to use propaganda to “form, control, or alter the attitudes of other groups.”

The Psychological War for Vietnam, 1960–1968 by Mervyn Edwin Roberts III Pdf

The Psychological War for Vietnam, 1960–1968, for the first time fully explores the most sustained, intensive use of psychological operations (PSYOP) in American history. In PSYOP, US military personnel use a variety of tactics—mostly audio and visual messages—to influence individuals and groups to behave in ways that favor US objectives. Informed by the author’s firsthand experience of such operations elsewhere, this account of the battle for “hearts and minds” in Vietnam offers rare insight into the art and science of propaganda as a military tool in the twentieth century. The Psychological War for Vietnam, 1960–1968, focuses on the creation, capabilities, and performance of the forces that conducted PSYOP in Vietnam, including the Joint US Public Affairs Office and the 4th PSYOP Group. In his comprehensive account, Mervyn Edwin Roberts III covers psychological operations across the entire theater, by all involved US agencies. His book reveals the complex interplay of these activities within the wider context of Vietnam and the Cold War propaganda battle being fought by the United States at the same time. Because PSYOP never occurs in a vacuum, Roberts considers the shifting influence of alternative sources of information—especially from the governments of North and South Vietnam, but also from Australia, Korea, and the Philippines. The Psychological War for Vietnam, 1960–1968, also addresses the development of PSYOP doctrine and training in the period prior to the introduction of ground combat forces in 1965 and, finally, shows how the course of the war itself forced changes to this doctrine. The scope of the book allows for a unique measurement of the effectiveness of psychological operations over time.

Mind Control by Dr. Haha Lung Pdf

Buddha said, “Your greatest weapon is your enemy's mind.” Crucial to victory in any battle is psychological warfare, a technique employed and perfected by history’s greatest military thinkers, such as Sun Tzu, Yoritomo, and Musashi of Japan; and several lesser-known but incredibly influential masterminds. Dr. Haha Lung, author of more than a dozen books on martial arts, presents an all-in-one primer to breaching your enemy's mental defenses. Building on the techniques he presented in the classic Mind Manipulation, he shows how to use your enemy's fears, insecurities, hopes, and beliefs against him. Some of the most effective mind control techniques are from forgotten masters of the trade, and are featured here for the very first time. • Dark Arts: the art of intimidation • The Secret of Seven: the Seven Wheels of Power • Masters of the East: Including the Craft of the Hircarrah, Vietnamese voodoo • Chinese Face: the art of K'ung Ming and Chinese face-reading • Samurai Sly: Yoritomo's Art of Influence; the Way of No-Sword; Shadow Warriors. • Blood of Abraham: Biblical black science
