Public Schools, Public Menace by Joel Turtel Pdf

The book explains why public schools are a menace to our children and waste their precious time. The book also shows why public schools are beyond repair, and simply cannot give children the education they need and deserve The author reveals how public schools cripple children's ability to read and indoctrinate innocent children with anti-parent, anti-American, and anti-Judeo-Christian values. The books also explores why public-school authorities now pressure millions of parents to give their children mind-altering drugs like Ritalin. The good news is that parents don't have to put up with a third-rate, mind-numbing public-school education for their kids any longer. The author gives parents a wealth of practical advice, strategies, and resources about quality, low-cost education alternatives parents can use to give their kids a great education, if they decide to take their kids out of public school. He gives detailed lists of quality, low-cost Internet schools, teaching books, and home-schooling resources parents can use to give their kids a great education. Dr. Laura Schlessinger, syndicated radio talk-show host said about "Public Schools, Public Menace" that , "This book is a must read for every parent . . ."

Schooling and the Politics of Disaster by Kenneth J. Saltman Pdf

Schooling and the Politics of Disaster is the first volume to address how disaster is being used for a radical social and economic reengineering of education. From the natural disasters of the Asian tsunami and the hurricanes in the Gulf Coast, to the human-made disasters in Iraq, Afghanistan, Haiti, Sudan, Indonesia, the United States and around the globe, disaster is increasingly shaping policy and politics. This groundbreaking collection explores how education policy is being reshaped by disaster politics. Noted scholars in education and sociology tackle issues as far-ranging as No Child Left Behind, the War on Terror, Hurricane Katrina, the making of educational funding crises in the US, and the Iraq War to bring to light a disturbing new phenonmemon in educational policy.

Chase the Rabbit by F. A. Grieger Pdf

Americans are being lied to … We are lied to by our government, misled by the entertainment media, indoctrinated by our educational institutions, defrauded by our banking institutions, and subjugated by our employers. Nevertheless, we willingly grant these institutions power over nearly every aspect of our lives, and we even admire and assist those who are exploiting us. What is the purpose of the lies? To con each and every one of us out of our property rights, and to coerce us into consenting to our own fleecing—while venerating and revering the thieves. This is true no matter if one is truly poor, or one is a member of the upper-middle class. It doesn’t matter if you are black, white, Latino, Asian, straight, gay, lesbian, Democrat, Republican, employee, manager, small-business owner, or greyhound dog. No matter how you earn your living, all those in the middle class have one thing in common. Like the greyhounds in a dog race, we have all been duped into pursuing an illusion, a goal that has been held in front of us as “The American Dream,” a goal that has been deliberately rendered unattainable. This is because the act itself of “chasing the rabbit” is what enriches those few who benefit from our daily economic activity. Making the rabbit uncatchable ensures that we can never stop running after it. If you’re a parent who cares about your children’s future, if you’re elderly and burdened with constant worry about surviving on a fixed income from social security, if you’re a small business owner drowning in the quicksand of onerous taxes and crippling regulation, if you’re a college student or recent graduate crippled with student loan debt—struggling or even unable to find a decent paying job, or if you’re simply fed up with government lies and propaganda touting false hope and change for greater economic prosperity, financial security, and opportunity—all of which remain perpetually out of reach … …within these pages, you will learn what you can do about it.

Durable Trades by Rory Groves Pdf

With over thirty thousand occupations currently in existence, workers today face a bewildering array of careers from which to choose, and upon which to center their lives. But there is more at stake than just a paycheck. For too long, work has driven a wedge between families, dividing husband from wife, father from son, mother from daughter, and family from home. Building something that will last requires a radically different approach than is common or encouraged today. In Durable Trades, Groves uncovers family-centered professions that have endured the worst upheavals in history--including the Industrial Revolution--and continue to thrive today. Through careful research and thoughtful commentary, Groves offers another way forward to those looking for a more durable future. Winner, 2020 Silver Nautilus Award Finalist, 2020 Midwest Book Award

Knowledge & Power in the Global Economy by David Gabbard Pdf

The second edition of Knowledge and Power in the Global Economy examines how neoliberal and neoconservative policies are working in tandem to privatize and commercialize public schools. It looks at how these policies and the agendas behind them have impacted the internal dynamics of school management, teaching, and learning, as well as how they have transformed the external dynamics of education from a public good or service offered to serve public interests to a private enterprise primarily serving private interests. In addition to information, critique, and analysis, multiple perspectives are provided that readers can draw upon to formulate an alternative vision of education as a crucial element of social change along democratic and egalitarian lines. The first edition of this volume provided a critical encyclopedic approach to the rhetoric of educational reform as it developed from the 1980s through the 1990s—critiquing its vocabulary, elaborating the multiplicity of ways that the logic of neoliberalism and the emerging patterns of high stakes testing and accountability were impacting the curriculum, and introducing ideas associated with alternative and liberatory educational projects. Since its publication in 2000, policy developments, such as the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 in the U.S. and others in the U.K. and other parts of the world, have nationalized and intensified these patterns, deepening the logic and extent of neoliberalism’s hold over educational reforms. At the same time, it is impossible to understand the current crises in education solely in terms of neoliberalism; the impact of neoconservatism must also be considered. Hence this second edition has a new subtitle: The Effects of School Reform in a Neoliberal/ Neoconservative Age. This edition is structured around five themes: *Political and Social Foundations; *Anti-Educational Foundations: The Set-Up; *Anti-Educational Foundations: The Trap; *Classroom Consequences; and *Democracy’s Path. This volume will particularly interest scholars and professionals across the fields of educational foundations, curriculum theory, and educational policy, and is well suited as a text for courses in these areas.
