Winner of the Untapped Award 2018. Then they give unrequested information about a gap year, in an orphanage, in The Congo, even though I'm from St Lucia and I don't like children! Turned away from a nightclub for being “too black”, four women take to the stage with their own explosive true stories. The music and the misogyny, the dancing and the drinking, the women and the (white) men. Loosely based on the DSRKT nightspot incident of 2015, Queens of Sheba tells the hilarious, moving and uplifting stories of four passionate Black women battling everyday misogynoir – where sexism meets racism.

The Last Queen of Sheba by Jill Francis Hudson Pdf

'An enthralling journey into an ancient world.' - Edoardo Albert, author of Edwin: High King of Britain A vividly-realized and beautifully crafted novel focused around the fabled meeting between Sheba and Solomon Against all odds Makeda, daughter of an obscure African chieftain, is chosen as Queen of all Sheba. Recognizing her own inexperience, yet desperately wanting to address Sheba's appalling social injustice, she is persuaded by her cousin Tamrin, wealthy merchant and narrator of the novel, to visit Solomon, King of Israel, to find out about how he governs his kingdom. She is hugely impressed by Israel's prosperity, by the wisdom and integrity with which Solomon rules, by the Hebrew religion, which she decides to adopt as her own, and by the justice for all that she determines to copy. However Solomon, who is trapped in a childless and loveless dynastic marriage with Pharaoh's daughter, allows himself to fall in love with the beautiful and intelligent African. He eventually tricks her into sleeping with him, and on the return journey to Sheba she discovers that she is pregnant. The son to whom she gives birth grows up in the court of Sheba, and eventually travels to Israel with Tamrin, to meet his father. But Solomon is a broken man, having put his doomed love for Makeda and need for an heir before his relationship with God. He has taken hundreds of wives and concubines in a fruitless attempt to recapture the love which he and Makeda shared. And Israel is no longer the nation of his youth . . . When the leader of the nation of God is apostate, where will the blessing fall?

Queen of Sheba by St John Simpson,British Museum Pdf

The Queen of Sheba is a famous legendary figure, first referred to in the Old Testament as bringing great riches to the court of Solomon. Later Jewish, Islamic, Ethiopian and Christian traditions dwell on different attributes, giving rise to a rich artistic vein, particularly but not exclusively in Renaissance and later art. The truth is that the Queen of Sheba remains an anonymous figure of legend associated with the land of Saba', one of the great early kingdoms of southern Arabia (present-day Yemen). The ancient caravan kingdoms of this region have fascinated travellers and scholars since the nineteenth century but our understanding of the history and culture of this region has been fundamentally revised as a result of new archaeological discoveries made in recent decades. This exhibition catalogue charts the story from the Queen of Sheba in art and legend to the archaeological evidence for the historic kingdoms that gave rise to the legend. It contains twelve essays by leading scholars from Britain, USA, Canada and Europe. Over 300 items are described and illustrated in colour, ranging from little-known artworks in UK collections to antiquities from Yemen, mostly never previously exhibited in Britain and providing a magnificent record of the riches of southern Arabia. The Kebra Nagast by Anonymous Pdf

Kebra Nagast recounts the incredible life of Queen Makeda and her son Menelik. It presents a mix of historical events and biblical myths relating to the origin of the House of Solomon, the Ethiopian dynasty that came to power in the 13th century. According to the book's plot, Queen Makeda visited King Solomon after the fame of his wisdom had reached her lands. She and King Solomon met in Jerusalem, and being enchanted by his knowledge, spent a night with him. King Solomon gave her a ring, by which their future child should identify himself as a son of Solomon. Makeda gives birth to her only child Menelik and raises him by herself by the age of 22 when he decides to reunite with his father. Solomon was pleased to meet his son and offered to stay with him and become his heir to the throne. Yet, Menelik decided to return home. So Solomon gave him a guard of the first-born sons of the first men of his land. However, the young people didn't want to leave the kingdom and secretly stole the Ark of Covenant, with the help of which they were mysteriously transferred to Ethiopia before king Solomon left the borders of his land chasing them. The story is written in the form of a debate between the 318 priests of the First Council of Nicaea.
