Federal Long-Range Spectrum Plan by Mathew B. Lane Pdf
The United States is vitally dependent upon the use of the radio spectrum to carry out national policies and achieve national goals. Use of the spectrum is vital to the security and welfare of the Nation and to the conduct of its foreign affairs. This use exerts a powerful influence upon our everyday lives, in countless ways, annually contributing significantly to the Nation's growth and economy. The radio spectrum is a limited natural resource which is accessible to all nations. It is imperative that we develop and administer our use of this resource wisely so as to maintain a free democratic society and to stimulate the healthy growth of the Nation, while ensuring its availability to serve future requirements in the best interest of the Nation. Therefore, consistent with our international treaty obligations and with due regard for the rights of other nations, the national objectives for the use of the radio spectrum are to make effective, efficient, and prudent use of the spectrum in the best interest of the Nation, with care to conserve it for uses where other means of communication are not available or feasible. This revised NIA report details the policies and plans geared towards government oversight of the national radio spectrum, an asset we cannot afford to overlook.

Canadian Table of Frequency Allocations 9 KHz to 275 GHz by Canada. Telecommunications Policy Branch Pdf
"This Canadian Table of Frequency Allocations allocates the electromagnetic spectrum between 9 kHz and 275 GHz (275 - 400 GHz is unallocated at this time) and is based on the provisions of the Final Acts resulting from the various World Administrative Radio Conferences (WARC), including the 1992 WARC, convened by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). The Canadian Table is intended to respond to Canadian domestic spectrum requirements. Consequently, it reflects the Department of Industry's spectrum allocation and utilization policies developed through public consultation. The Canadian Table includes the revisions made to the frequency allocations in October 1994. It should be noted, therefore, that the Canadian Table differs, where necessary, from the ITU Table"--Foreword.

Handbook of Frequency Allocations and Spectrum Protection for Scientific Uses by National Research Council,Division on Engineering and Physical Sciences,Board on Physics and Astronomy,Committee on Radio Frequencies,Panel on Frequency Allocations and Spectrum Protection for Scientific Uses Pdf
The electromagnetic spectrum is a vital part of our environment. Information encoded in the spectrum of radiation arriving at earth from the universe is the means by which we learn about its workings and origin. Radiation collected from the Earth's land, oceans, biosphere, and atmosphere provide us with much of the data needed to better understand this environment. Wise use of the spectrum is necessary if we are to continue these advances in scientific understanding. To help guide this effort, the NSF and NASA asked the NRC to develop a set of principles for fostering effective allocation and protection of spectral bands for scientific research. This handbook contains practical information in this connection including a description of regulatory bodies and issues, a discussion of the relevant scientific background, a list of science spectrum allocations in the United States, and an analysis of spectrum protection issues.

Handbook of Frequency Allocations and Spectrum Protection for Scientific Uses by National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (U.S.). Panel on Frequency Allocations and Spectrum Protection for Scientific Uses,Committee on Radio Frequencies,Division on Engineering and Physical Sciences,Board on Physics and Astronomy Pdf
The electromagnetic spectrum is a vital part of our environment. Measures of radio frequency emissions from natural phenomena enable both practical applications, such as weather predictions and studies of the changing of Earth's climate here at home, and reveal the physical properties of cosmic sources. The spectrum is therefore a resource to be used wisely now and to be protected for future generations. Handbook of Frequency Allocations and Spectrum Protection for Scientific Uses: Second Edition sets forth the principles for the allocation and protection of spectral bands for services using the radio spectrum for scientific research. This report describes the radio frequency bands used by scientific services and includes relevant regulatory information and discussion of scientific use of frequency bands. This reference will guide spectrum managers and spectrum regulatory bodies on science issues and serve as a resource to scientists and other spectrum users.

A Strategy for Active Remote Sensing Amid Increased Demand for Radio Spectrum by National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine,Division on Engineering and Physical Sciences,Board on Physics and Astronomy,Committee on a Survey of the Active Sensing Uses of the Radio Spectrum Pdf
Active remote sensing is the principal tool used to study and to predict short- and long-term changes in the environment of Earth - the atmosphere, the oceans and the land surfaces - as well as the near space environment of Earth. All of these measurements are essential to understanding terrestrial weather, climate change, space weather hazards, and threats from asteroids. Active remote sensing measurements are of inestimable benefit to society, as we pursue the development of a technological civilization that is economically viable, and seek to maintain the quality of our life. A Strategy for Active Remote Sensing Amid Increased Demand for Spectrum describes the threats, both current and future, to the effective use of the electromagnetic spectrum required for active remote sensing. This report offers specific recommendations for protecting and making effective use of the spectrum required for active remote sensing.
