The Railway Transition Spiral (Classic Reprint) by Arthur N. Talbot Pdf

Excerpt from The Railway Transition Spiral The treatment herein given has been quite widely used on the railroads of the United States, and many engineers have commended its simplicity, convenience, and flexibility. The methods and principles are readily taken up by instrument men, and the field work has proved little more difficult than that for circular curves. The use of a regular rate of transition per 100 feet of spiral is advantageous, and the tables are in convenient form. The Transition Spiral by Arthur Lovat Higgins Pdf

Excerpt from The Transition Spiral: And Its Introduction to Railway Curves With Field Exercises in Construction and Alignment The aim of this handbook is to afford concise and complete demonstration of the introduction of transition curves, or spirals, in the various argument problems that accrue in connection with the construction or improvement of railway curves. Now the extent to which such problems can be satisfactorily essayed depends upon the mathematical development of the form of transition adopted, and the facility with which this development admits utilisation in the field - the effective compromise of mathematical truth with practical precision. Hence, besides fulfilling its objective function, the ideal transition curve must be easy and flexible in construction; a curve with simple, definite relations to main curves and straights; and, above all, one which can be introduced without the aid of special tables, such as hamper the construction of American tabular spirals. The curve most readily amenable to these requirements is to be found in the clothoid = m the spiral advanced and investigated in this connection by Mr. James Glover, M.A., A.M.I.C.E., in a paper read to the Institution of Civil Engineers. Track Design Handbook for Light Rail Transit by Anonim Pdf

TCRP report 155 provides guidelines and descriptions for the design of various common types of light rail transit (LRT) track. The track structure types include ballasted track, direct fixation ("ballastless") track, and embedded track. The report considers the characteristics and interfaces of vehicle wheels and rail, tracks and wheel gauges, rail sections, alignments, speeds, and track moduli. The report includes chapters on vehicles, alignment, track structures, track components, special track work, aerial structures/bridges, corrosion control, noise and vibration, signals, traction power, and the integration of LRT track into urban streets.

Principles of Railway Location and Design by Sirong Yi Pdf

Principles of Railway Location and Design examines classification and classing methods of railway networks and expresses theories and methods of railway route selection and design. Railway networks represent modal transfer, which significantly alleviates traffic congestion and pollution The book introduces capacity enhancing methods for existing railways and implementation plans and technical conditions for improving existing passenger railways, building new high speed railways and developing heavy haul railways. The book covers ten areas of unfavorable geological conditions including slide areas, debris flow areas and earthquake areas. Practical solutions with detailed presentations have been provided. This valuable reference book summarizes and extracts the high speed railway route selection design. The book covers basic principles and methods by referring to research data of high speed railway technology in China and other countries, as well as engineering practice data. Provides classification and classing methods of railway networks, integrated with principles and methods of railway route selection and design Describes enhancing methods for existing railways, and an implementation plan for existing passenger railways, new high speed railways and heavy haul railways Presents route selection principles and methods for regions with bad geological conditions, including landslide, debris flow and earthquake
