Returning to Ceremony by Chantal Fiola Pdf

Returning to Ceremony is the follow-up to Chantal Fiola’s award-winning Rekindling the Sacred Fire and continues her ground-breaking examination of Métis spirituality, debunking stereotypes such as “all Métis people are Catholic,” and “Métis people do not go to ceremonies.” Fiola finds that, among the Métis, spirituality exists on a continuum of Indigenous and Christian traditions, and that Métis spirituality includes ceremonies. For some Métis, it is a historical continuation of the relationships their ancestral communities have had with ceremonies since time immemorial, and for others, it is a homecoming – a return to ceremony after some time away. Fiola employs a Métis-specific and community-centred methodology to gather evidence from archives, priests’ correspondence, oral history, storytelling, and literature. With assistance from six Métis community researchers, Fiola listened to stories and experiences shared by thirty-two Métis from six Manitoba Métis communities that are at the heart of this book. They offer insight into their families’ relationships with land, community, culture, and religion, including factors that inhibit or nurture connection to ceremonies such as sweat lodge, Sundance, and the Midewiwin. Valuable profiles emerge for six historic Red River Métis communities (Duck Bay, Camperville, St Laurent, St François-Xavier, Ste Anne, and Lorette), providing a clearer understanding of identity, culture, and spirituality that uphold Métis Nation sovereignty.

Ancient Pathways, Ancestral Knowledge by Nancy Turner Pdf

Volume 1: The History and Practice of Indigenous Plant Knowledge Volume 2: The Place and Meaning of Plants in Indigenous Cultures and Worldviews Nancy Turner has studied Indigenous peoples' knowledge of plants and environments in northwestern North America for over forty years. In Ancient Pathways, Ancestral Knowledge, she integrates her research into a two-volume ethnobotanical tour-de-force. Drawing on information shared by Indigenous botanical experts and collaborators, the ethnographic and historical record, and from linguistics, palaeobotany, archaeology, phytogeography, and other fields, Turner weaves together a complex understanding of the traditions of use and management of plant resources in this vast region. She follows Indigenous inhabitants over time and through space, showing how they actively participated in their environments, managed and cultivated valued plant resources, and maintained key habitats that supported their dynamic cultures for thousands of years, as well as how knowledge was passed on from generation to generation and from one community to another. To understand the values and perspectives that have guided Indigenous ethnobotanical knowledge and practices, Turner looks beyond the details of individual plant species and their uses to determine the overall patterns and processes of their development, application, and adaptation. Volume 1 presents a historical overview of ethnobotanical knowledge in the region before and after European contact. The ways in which Indigenous peoples used and interacted with plants - for nutrition, technologies, and medicine - are examined. Drawing connections between similarities across languages, Turner compares the names of over 250 plant species in more than fifty Indigenous languages and dialects to demonstrate the prominence of certain plants in various cultures and the sharing of goods and ideas between peoples. She also examines the effects that introduced species and colonialism had on the region's Indigenous peoples and their ecologies. Volume 2 provides a sweeping account of how Indigenous organizational systems developed to facilitate the harvesting, use, and cultivation of plants, to establish economic connections across linguistic and cultural borders, and to preserve and manage resources and habitats. Turner describes the worldviews and philosophies that emerged from the interactions between peoples and plants, and how these understandings are expressed through cultures’ stories and narratives. Finally, she explores the ways in which botanical and ecological knowledge can be and are being maintained as living, adaptive systems that promote healthy cultures, environments, and indigenous plant populations. Ancient Pathways, Ancestral Knowledge both challenges and contributes to existing knowledge of Indigenous peoples' land stewardship while preserving information that might otherwise have been lost. Providing new and captivating insights into the anthropogenic systems of northwestern North America, it will stand as an authoritative reference work and contribute to a fuller understanding of the interactions between cultures and ecological systems.

KUKUU-TUNTUM The Ancestral Jurisdiction by Odwirafo Kwesi Ra Nehem Ptah Akhan Pdf

KUKUU-TUNTUM The Ancestral Jurisdiction The KUKUU-TUNTUM is groundbreaking in the sense that we were the first to publish the correct etymologies of the names of the various fictional characters including: jesus/yeshua, muhammed, abraham, isaac, ishmael, moses, solomon, sheba, menelik, buddha, allah, yahweh, brahmin etc. Many writers have put forward false etymologies based on a lack of understanding of Afurakani/Afuraitkaitnit (African) cosmology and culture. We were the first to demonstrate how these fictional characters were manufactured via the deliberate corruption of names, descriptive titles and functions of Deities of Kamit. We restore the consciousness of the Divine Balance of Male and Female in Creation founded upon Amen and Amenet and reaffirm the nature and function of Afurakani/Afuraitkaitnit (African) Ancestral Religion. Finally, we were the first to demonstrate and publish the actual etymological and cosmological origins of the term Afuraka/Afuraitkait (Africa) and thus our true identity as Black people, our role in Creation, the nature of our enemies and our path to restoration. Contents: Origin of Creation Origin of the name Afuraka/Afuraitkait (Africa) Origin and nature of Afurakanu/Afuraitkaitnut (Africans) Afurakani/Afuraitkaitnit (African) Ancestral Culture Origin and nature of the whites and their offspring rooted in the insanity of dissexuality (homosexuality) and incest Cosmological Structure of Creation Nature and function of the Nananom Nsamanfo and Abosom, Egungun and Orisha, Kuvito and Vodou (the Ancestresses and Ancestors and the Goddesses and Gods) in Afurakani/Afuraitkaitnit (African) Ancestral Religion Origin and function of Afurakani/Afuraitkaitnit (African) Ancestral Clans Afurakani/Afuraitkaitnit (African) Ancestral Religion Origins of the following FICTIONAL characters: abraham · isaac · ishmael · moses · aaron · david · judah · jesus · mary · yeshua ben pandira · muhammad · allah · yahweh · elohim · solomon · sheba · menelik · brahman · buddha and more Origins of the FALSE religions and FALSE religious writings: christianity and the bible · islam and the quran · judaism/hebrewism and the torah hinduism and the vedas · buddhism and the dhamapadas · european pseudo-esotericism and the qabbalah and more

Sand Talk by Tyson Yunkaporta Pdf

A paradigm-shifting book in the vein of Sapiens that brings a crucial Indigenous perspective to historical and cultural issues of history, education, money, power, and sustainability—and offers a new template for living. As an indigenous person, Tyson Yunkaporta looks at global systems from a unique perspective, one tied to the natural and spiritual world. In considering how contemporary life diverges from the pattern of creation, he raises important questions. How does this affect us? How can we do things differently? In this thoughtful, culturally rich, mind-expanding book, he provides answers. Yunkaporta’s writing process begins with images. Honoring indigenous traditions, he makes carvings of what he wants to say, channeling his thoughts through symbols and diagrams rather than words. He yarns with people, looking for ways to connect images and stories with place and relationship to create a coherent world view, and he uses sand talk, the Aboriginal custom of drawing images on the ground to convey knowledge. In Sand Talk, he provides a new model for our everyday lives. Rich in ideas and inspiration, it explains how lines and symbols and shapes can help us make sense of the world. It’s about how we learn and how we remember. It’s about talking to everyone and listening carefully. It’s about finding different ways to look at things. Most of all it’s about a very special way of thinking, of learning to see from a native perspective, one that is spiritually and physically tied to the earth around us, and how it can save our world. Sand Talk include 22 black-and-white illustrations that add depth to the text.

The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind by Julian Jaynes Pdf

National Book Award Finalist: “This man’s ideas may be the most influential, not to say controversial, of the second half of the twentieth century.”—Columbus Dispatch At the heart of this classic, seminal book is Julian Jaynes's still-controversial thesis that human consciousness did not begin far back in animal evolution but instead is a learned process that came about only three thousand years ago and is still developing. The implications of this revolutionary scientific paradigm extend into virtually every aspect of our psychology, our history and culture, our religion—and indeed our future. “Don’t be put off by the academic title of Julian Jaynes’s The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind. Its prose is always lucid and often lyrical…he unfolds his case with the utmost intellectual rigor.”—The New York Times “When Julian Jaynes . . . speculates that until late in the twentieth millennium BC men had no consciousness but were automatically obeying the voices of the gods, we are astounded but compelled to follow this remarkable thesis.”—John Updike, The New Yorker “He is as startling as Freud was in The Interpretation of Dreams, and Jaynes is equally as adept at forcing a new view of known human behavior.”—American Journal of Psychiatry

Eastern Métis by Michel Bouchard,Sébastien Malette,Siomonn Pulla Pdf

In Eastern Métis, Michel Bouchard, Sébastien Malette, and Siomonn Pulla demonstrate the historical and social evidence for the origins and continued existence of Métis communities across Ontario, Quebec, and the Canadian Maritimes as well as the West. Contributors to this edited collection explore archival and historical records that challenge narratives which exclude the possibility of Métis communities and identities in central and eastern Canada. Taking a continental rhizomatic approach, this book provides a rich and nuanced view of what it means to be Métis.

Devil’s Ultimate Claim by Kalishwar Das Pdf

Devils Ultimate Claim is a gripping tale about good and evil, seen from a new perspective, making the reader think on a new platform. It’s filled with clues to attain divinity, several amusing, unheard and serious historical characters uniquely adjusted with the unnoticed story of real-world in a set beyond anyone’s wildest imaginations. After getting enlightened in deep meditation, the author of this book realized that his extraordinary experience of attaining divinity explained him to understand the entirety of creation, which can be mathematically described by reversing Einstein’s theory of E=mc2. By doing so, it achieves the same climax of an ‘ultimate zero,’ which is known as the door to divinity. This excitement had some flows too. It was hard to let the scientific community notice his rarest findings. They seldom relating their findings with such an intuitive finding and scarcely promoting further research in such a contentious subject. So, the author caught a different route to bring his findings in the public domain, ~write the truth as a fiction story or making a feature film on such a touchy topic, to step up toward spreading public awareness on divinity. Only because the writer was publicly claiming to have discovered the scientific method of attaining divinity, guaranteeing secure salvation to all, the devil gets attracted and virtually hacks him in the Pentagon for liberating himself from his consequential hell-trap of WW2. While luring and forcing him to reveal this method of free salvation, ghost revealed several unknown facts about this world and beyond but in the end, on failing to know anything out from the determined author, he brutally killed him. Since it was a virtual dream, so the author awakes home with an enhanced vision and power to access and express the entire incident like a divine wish, which he dreamt of the ghost, so that this ultimate method of glimpsing divinity can come in the public domain. The Ghost of Hitler, the Pentagon, his death experience is all fictitious but the revealing on divinity, which the writer overwhelmingly claimed, is “TRUE” and, which is elaborated in such a most significant unmatching sarcasm of the modern time. What was that secret revealing which is the reverse order of Albert Einstein’s theory of E=mc2, and which paves a new field of research for its further mathematical explanation, which one can testify by glimpsing divinity in his/her lifetime? The writer has indicated its method moderately in the book, but reserved its full secret for the researchers and the Movie producers, to predominantly targeting this high-profile topic.
