Ramblings Of An Old Codger by Larry Edwards Pdf

"You'll understand when you grow up." "Just wait until you have kids." "Well, when I was a kid..." "Just do as I say." "You're going to thank me for this someday." Gap: a space between two people or things; a hole or space where something is missing. (Merriam-Webster) Generation Gap: the difference in opinions, values, etc. between young and older people. (Merriam-Webster) Generation gaps are timeless. The first one was probably between Adam and Eve and their sons Cain and Abel. Occasionally, this gap is used to transmit wisdom from one generation to the next as it was intended. Solomon, possibly the wisest man who ever lived, gave us a whole book of the Bible called Proverbs for the purpose of bridging the wisdom gap between his generation and the next. But even after writing 9,921 profound words, the next generation ended up a divided nation and eventually were conquered. So apparently, a lot of wise words from a really smart guy is no guarantee that one generation will listen and learn from their predecessors. But that didn't stop this author from trying. Instead of just shaking his head and saying, "Kids today!" Larry has consolidated his thoughts and observations of life into a set of "ramblings," sometimes "tongue in cheek," often humorously, but always with the intent to "pass on" practical insights and attitudes to his offspring. Larry admits his error in realizing his duty to "pass on" vital life or death truths came late in his life, but better late than never. This plain, ordinary old dad extols readers to learn from him and to determine to begin their own set of "ramblings." Our original Father even commands us to "pass it on" in Deuteronomy 6:6. Who knows, there may be some people still willing to listen to "an old codger."

The Ramblings and Correlations of an Intergenerational Mind by Billie G Pdf

I grew up in Vancouver where I’ve run the gamut of alcoholism, addiction, dysfunction, and every other intergenerational effect around. I am a Heiltsuk, born in Bella Bella, BC. My name is Billie, and I am known on a popular social media site and from my childhood as Billie G. I am the sixth daughter of a handsome carver/fisherman and a beautiful mom who worked in the cannery in Namu, BC. I am a proud mom of four beautiful sons, Martin, Gregory, Miguel and Jamie. I am a grandmother, an aunt, a daughter and a niece, sister, cousin and friend. I had absolutely no idea why my people and I are so broken. I had no idea what intergenerational effects were until I went to college and then university. Before I had the privilege of earning an education, I had no idea why I’d led a life stagnant and laden with dysfunction or why I could not just ‘be healthy.’ I did not understand why I had to take the long rough and tough way around towards healing. I have since earned a Bachelor of Social Work degree from an indigenous perspective and I have learned a lot about me and my life and how I’ve been affected by intergenerational effects.I understand now why I am so stigmatized. I understand now who I am and where I come from. I have recognized not a lot of people, indigenous or otherwise, are unaware of what intergenerational effects are. I have correlated some effects with my life in hopes of giving more clarity in how they affect me and my people. These are my views, this is my understanding, and this is my life. These are The Ramblings and Correlations of an Intergenerational Mind.

Blue by Brandy Wehinger Pdf

Zombie story with plenty to sink your teeth into: romance, supernatural monsters and a good dose of blood and gore. Blue is set in a post-apocalyptic world, where humans live in colonies high above the ground and have forgotten a lot of what pre-zombie life was like, for instance there are no cell phones or internet etc. Told through a small collection of voices whose stories unfold and then tie-in together, this is a fresh and modern read which races along and keeps the reader enthralled right to the end. The main character, Blue is a half-zombie, half-human. The Blue is an interesting state of being: somewhere between ‘normal’ and a walking corpse. The Blue is mostly immortal, yet desperately alone. The author's sense of humour is obvious throughout and her love of science and general nerdy fascinations have given the rules and biology that govern the existence of the zombies in Blue a touch of 'almost-reality'.

The Season of Glass by Rahla Xenopoulos Pdf

Somewhere in her body she retained every story ever told. She knew every life that had been lived and every life yet to be born. There exists a prophesy as old as history itself: in times of darkness a pair of twins will be born, a gift to humankind that will save us from ourselves. Whether in ancient Ethiopia, where a warrior queen rises; aboard buccaneer Black Caesar’s pirate ship sailing for Jamaica at the time of the Spanish Inquisition; or in a banker’s opulent mansion in Austria on the eve of World War ii. , the twins, and their aides and enemies, must face a common destiny. The Season of Glass is a modern Scheherazade’s tale about these siblings’ travels at pivotal moments: to a marbled city in sixteenth-century India, through dangerous Johannesburg streets in the seventies, and even to the distant future. A shimmering novel, it is a kaleidoscope that works with light and shows us hope.

Carra: My Autobiography by Jamie Carragher Pdf

For the Anfield faithful, Jamie Carragher represents everything that is great about Liverpool Football Club, prompting the Kop to sing 'we all dream of a team of Carraghers'. The club's vice-captain, longest-serving player and one of a select band of players to have made more than 500 appearances for the Reds, Carra never gives less than 100 per cent for the cause. He is the embodiment of old-fashioned football values - a rarity in the modern game - honest and uncompromising. In Carra: My Autobiography, the Liverpool defender takes us deep into the heart of Anfield, into the club's past glories and its uncertain future. In his typically down-to-earth style, Carra reveals what made him discard his blue Evertonian roots to become a fully fledged Red, how he mended his wild ways to become a true professional and a multiple trophy-winner, and the truth about a succession of managers - Evans, Houllier, Benítez - in the hottest seat in football. A Scouser through and through, Carra also has some forthright views on the England team, and tells why he rejected calls to return to the international fold. Full of sensational stories and controversial opinions, of glory and heartbreak on and off the pitch, Carra: My Autobiography is a football book unlike any other. The authentic voice of Anfield, Carra is one of the Bootroom Boys in true Liverpool tradition, and is as committed on the page as in every game he has played.
