This book will open your eyes to the counsel of Balaam, which affected Israel and is now affecting this great nation of ours. America's present-day woes are not physical, but rather spiritual. Balaam could not curse Israel, and with our enemies, but they can lead us into sin, which our God hates, and that will cause Him to walk away from us. After reading this book, you will see this evil like never before, but you will also learn to walk away from it.

American Restoration by Timothy S. Goeglein,Craig Osten Pdf

THIS IS NO TIME TO RUN AND HIDE America seems to be crumbling from within. Having abandoned the Judeo-Christian values that are the foundation of its culture, our nation, in the eyes of many, is going the way of the great civilizations of the past. If our 250-year experiment in ordered liberty has really run its course, is it time to recognize the inevitable, pack up our families, and head for the hills, hunkering down through the dark days to come? Or is there hope for an American restoration? Tim Goeglein and Craig Osten, battle-hardened veterans of the culture wars, know as well as anyone that the decadence is undeniable. But they make the case that an American restoration is not only possible, but probable—if we act now. The key is for Christians to engage with the culture, not flee from it, to be the salt and light that will renew it from within. That engagement must take place especially at the local level, where real spiritual and cultural transformation occurs. If America returns to its spiritual foundations, the tumultuous times we live in will be nothing more than a bumpy detour in our nation’s history. This book is a roadmap for the way back. In this clear-eyed but hopeful guide to restoration, Goeglein and Osten explain how patriotic Americans, with God’s help, can renew fifteen critical components of our culture. Government will not provide the solutions we desperately need. The solutions lie in our churches, our communities, and our homes. The light for our path is faith. As that light pierces the darkness, America will experience a reawakening, regeneration, and renewal.

Hope for This Present Crisis: The Seven-Step Path to Restoring a World Gone Mad by Michael Youssef Pdf

Our culture has lost its mind. Now, we are waging a bigger fight--a war for our soul. Is it possible our world has gone mad? We are under siege and the war is not from without; it is from within. The collapse of the Roman Empire occurred in a single generation and was not so much the result of invasions by their enemies but the result of moral decay and internal corruption. Similar patterns are emerging in America. We neglected or abandoned our traditional institutions long ago, but now it's time to take them back. Today, forces are at work to strip the principles and precepts of faith from public venues or minimize their significance. Many progressive leaders are convinced that when Christianity disintegrates it will create peace on earth. But the loss of our heritage will merely create a spiritual vacuum that will be filled with folly, crammed with chaos, or invaded by Islam. The reality is: Western civilization will become so decadent and reckless that America will collapse like a house of cards. In Hope for This Present Crisis, Dr. Youssef provides a diagnosis of the insanity of the current culture and a seven-step prescription for restoring sanity to a world gone mad. Here's the seven-step path to restoring a world gone mad: Remember the Truth - Stand firm on the truth of the gospel. Restore the Soul - Seek God's approval─ not the approval of other people. Revitalize theFamily - Guard your children from the horrors of the Internet. Reestablish the Classroom - Support conscientious, caring public school teachers. Respect our Freedoms - Know your rights. Reform our Society - Morally and spiritually purify yourself. Revive the Church - Demonstrate the forgiving love of Jesus at all times. This book will teach you how to stand up to attacks on your faith, and defend Christianity as a meaningful contribution to society.

Restoring America's Christian Education by Stephen McDowell Pdf

America is a nation at risk. One primary reason for this is the mediocre educational performance that exists today, which is the fruit of a state monopolized educational system where the antichristian, man-centered religion of secular humanism is preached five days a week to 50 million of our youth. This is leading them and our nation into bondage. Lack of money is not the problem in our public schools. The problem is with the philosophy that forms the foundation of education in America. Colossians 2:8 reveals there are two basic philosophies that which is according to the world, and that which is according to Christ. A worldly or humanistic (man-centered) philosophy always brings captivity or bondage, while a Christian philosophy brings liberty. Learn of the Christian foundations of education in America: Education was centered in the home and was thoroughly Christian; the first schools were started by the church; the first common schools were started to teach children to be able to read and understand the Bible; 106 of the first 108 colleges were started by and for the Christian faith; the Bible was the central textbook; the Christian education of America's Founders produced men of great character and thought men who gave the world the most free, just, and prosperous nation of all time. Such education is needed to assure that America will continue its legacy of liberty. 24 pages,"

Democracy and Public Administration by Richard C Box Pdf

The true measure of the successful practice of public service is its ability to remain faithful to the tenets of democratic society. This introductory text links the practice of public administration to the core concepts of American democracy. It covers the nuts and bolts of public administration in the context of "delivering democracy" in public service - providing what the public really wants as opposed to what self-serving bureaucracies may call for. Chapters in "Democracy and Public Administration" discuss the functional topics covered in other texts, but from the perspective of this democratic ideal. Each chapter is written by an expert in the area, and summarizes previous research in the area, presents the author's research and thought, and offers ways in which practitioners can apply the concepts discussed to their daily work.

From Wall Street to Main Street by Reginald F. Davis Pdf

"From Wall Street to Main Street, the moral toxicity in our country is alarming. There are frightening signs that America is on the same path to destruction as the Roman Empire was before its fall. Since America has embraced secular progressivism and redefined its traditional spiritual values, our nation has greatly declined. History points to the judgment of God that came upon nations for their moral toxicity. Unless America repents, returns to God, reorders its priorities, and sets its financial house in order, future generations will ask, ""Why has the mighty fallen?"" America needs to heed Abraham Lincoln, who said, ""America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedom, it will be because we destroyed ourselves from within."" From Wall Street to Main Street is a trumpet blast not only to alert Americans to our spiritual and moral decline but also to encourage our citizens to save this great republic. Our struggle is not merely social, economic, and political--it is spiritual. There is hope, and this hope is in the struggle to make God, justice, and morality central in our nation once again. "

Public Administration and Society by Richard C Box Pdf

For instructors who want to expose their students to the social, political, and historical context of the practice of public administration, this book provides a unique approach to the introductory PA course. The author's own text is skilfully interwoven with a collection of seminal readings and documents that illuminate the key issues of past and present for public service professionals in a democratic society. More than an overview of public administration, Public Administration and Society offers students a broad perspective on the American Founding Era, the relationship of citizens to government, and how the structure of government reflects societal values. The premise of the book is that understanding the societal context is important to the success of the practitioner and to the practitioner's role as a responsible agent of change in a democratic society. Introductory essays and readings offer students perspectives on five important thematic areas in public administration: the Founding-Era debate over the size and scope of government, the relationship of the community to the individual, public organizations and policy making, values and public administration, and the role of the public service practitioner in a democratic society. This new edition of features five new readings, and, based on input from adopters, an entirely new section on public policy making (Part IV: Public Organizations and Policy). The author's part-opening sections have all been extensively revised and updated.

Deregulating the Public Service by John J. DiIulio Pdf

The nation's federal, state, and local public service is in deep trouble. Not even the most talented, dedicated, well-compensated, well-trained, and well-led public servants can serve the public well if they must operate under perverse personnel and procurement regulations that punish innovation and promote inefficiency. Many attempts have been made to determine administrative problems in the public service and come up with viable solutions. Two of the most important—the 1990 report of the National Commission on the Public Service, led by former Federal Reserve chairman Paul A. Volcker, and the 1993 report of the National Commission on the State and Local Public Service, led by former Mississippi Governor William F. Winter—recommended "deregulating the public service." Deregulating the public service essentially means altering or abolishing personnel and procurement regulations that deplete government workers' creativity, reduce their productivity, and make a career in public service unattractive to many talented, energetic, and public-spirited citizens. But will it work? With the benefit of a historical perspective on the development of American public service from the days of the progressives to the present, the contributors to this book argue that deregulating the public service is a necessary but insufficient condition for much of the needed improvement in governmental administration. Avoiding simple solutions and quick fixes for long-standing ills, they recommend new and large-scale experiments with deregulating the public service at all levels of government. In addition to editor John DiIulio, the contributors are Paul A. Volcker, former chairman of the Federal Reserve, now at Princeton University; former Mississippi Governor William F. Winter; Gerald J. Garvey, Princeton; John P. Burke, University of Vermont; Melvin J. Dubnick, Rutgers; Constance Horner, former director of the Federal Office of Personnel Management, now at Brookings; Mark

Democracy, Social Justice, and the American Community College by Patrick Sullivan Pdf

This book provides scholars, educators, and legislators with a personal, classroom-level tour of daily life at a community college. Readers will accompany the author into the classroom as he goes about his work as an English teacher meeting with classes and corresponding with students on Blackboard and e-mail. Answering the call for ”student-centered scholarship,” this book blends traditional academic writing with chapters that feature a rich variety of student work, including essays, journal entries, poems, art, and responses to creative assignments. In this volume, Sullivan theorizes the modern community college as a social justice institution. By mission and mandate, the modern community college has democratized America’s system of higher education and distributed hope, equity, and opportunity more broadly across the nation.

They Came to Toil by Melita M. Garza Pdf

As the Great Depression gripped the United States in the early 1930s, the Hoover administration sought to preserve jobs for Anglo-Americans by targeting Mexicans, including long-time residents and even US citizens, for deportation. Mexicans comprised more than 46 percent of all people deported between 1930 and 1939, despite being only 1 percent of the US population. In all, about half a million people of Mexican descent were deported to Mexico, a "homeland" many of them had never seen, or returned voluntarily in fear of deportation. They Came to Toil investigates how the news reporting of this episode in immigration history created frames for representing Mexicans and immigrants that persist to the present. Melita M. Garza sets the story in San Antonio, a city central to the formation of Mexican American identity, and contrasts how the city's three daily newspapers covered the forced deportations of Mexicans. She shows that the Spanish-language La Prensa not surprisingly provided the fullest and most sympathetic coverage of immigration issues, while the locally owned San Antonio Express and the Hearst chain-owned San Antonio Light varied between supporting Mexican labor and demonizing it. Garza analyzes how these media narratives, particularly in the English-language press, contributed to the racial "othering" of Mexicans and Mexican Americans. Adding an important new chapter to the history of the Long Civil Rights Movement, They Came to Toil brings needed historical context to immigration issues that dominate today's headlines.

Where Have All the Shepherds Gone? by Jay Leach Pdf

Paul calls the Galatian Christians foolish! Having begun in the Spirit, are now being perfected by the flesh (see Galatians 3:1-3). Legalism and religion do not trust in the finished work of Christ and the efficacy of His blood to produce His intended results. Therefore, they always appeal to the flesh, teaching to control people through behavior modification, which make those pastors who yield to this model, not shepherds per se, but mere sin managers. The only force capable of restoring America’s local Churches in whatever areas need restoring is the Spirit of God animating the Word of God rightly divided, preached, and taught defining and biblically shaping and motivating the spiritual life of the body of Christ.
