Climate Changes Mitigation and Sustainable Bioenergy Harvest Through Animal Waste by Muhammad Arshad Pdf
The valuable characteristics of animal waste materials in terms of climatic change impact and bioenergy production are discussed in this book. Reutilization of such wastes for bioenergy harvest is the prime focus; the great need for future animal waste recycling is also depicted. Major topics discussed are types of livestock waste – poultry and dairy, methods and management of waste utilization and storage, application of animal waste in bioenergy production, economics of waste utilization, novel disposable techniques, circular bioeconomy, pollution, and water quality. Furthermore, utilization of animal waste for resource conservation and environmental protection is discussed, such as potential materials for green biochemicals. Resource recovery can, therefore, forestall the shortage of natural resources and, at the same time, can greatly reduce waste-disposal problems and energy crises. Many alternatives to waste disposal, either currently available or under study, focus on the recovery of material or energy. In a world of diminishing resources and increasing needs, each opportunity for the recycling of animal waste materials has been examined. This book significantly contributes toward climate change mitigation through better environmental solutions. A better understanding of animal waste recycling to mitigate climate changes has been portrayed in order to generate discussions among researchers and administrators. Environmental implications of animal waste are of prime importance in climate change scenario. Such wastes also harbor zoonotic pathogens that are transported in the environment. Finally, it has been tried out to collect ideas and experience in multiple aspects of animal waste management for climate change mitigation and bioenergy harvest.

Food Waste Recovery by Charis M. Galanakis Pdf
Food Waste Recovery: Processing Technologies, Industrial Techniques, and Applications, Second Edition provides information on safe and economical strategies for the recapture of value compounds from food wastes while also exploring their re-utilization in fortifying foods and as ingredients in commercial products. Sections discuss the exploration of management options, different sources, the Universal Recovery Strategy, conventional and emerging technologies, and commercialization issues that target applications of recovered compounds in the food and cosmetics industries. This book is a valuable resource for food scientists, technologists, engineers, chemists, product developers, researchers, academics and professionals working in the food industry. Covers food waste management within the food industry by developing recovery strategies Provides coverage of processing technologies and industrial techniques for the recovery of valuable compounds from food processing by-products Explores the different applications of compounds recovered from food processing using three approaches: targeting by-products, targeting ingredients, and targeting bioactive applications

Appropriate Waste Management for Developing Countries by Kriton Curi Pdf
The importance of protecting the environment against pollution is an objective which gained international acceptance in the recent years. According to the first principle of the Declaration of the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment which took place in Stockholm in 1972, "man .... bears a solemn responsibility to protect and improve the environment for present and future genera tions". The United Nations again in their desire to improve the sanitation conditions allover the world decided to proclaim the period between 1981-1990 as the "International Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation Decade." Although attempts have been made by inter national organizations to prevent pollution, it is difficult to say that these attempts gave satisfactory results in developing countries. The most common reasons of failure are: a) To find solutions to their environmental problems, develop ing countries usually seek the assistance of engineers and scientists from developed countries. Many times, how ever, either out of ignorance of the local condition or due to financial motivations, these experts come out with solutions which are far from being considered as the "most appropriate." As a result, the basic objective of protecting the environment is not achieved. b) Attempts made by developed countries to "export" their wastes - especially the hazardous ones - to the developing world, is another danger - and sometimes reason of failure encountered in the field of Environmental Management.

Practical Handbook of Processing and Recycling Municipal Waste by AGR Manser,Alan Keeling Pdf
If we could understand the scientific and engineering principles behind recycling, our ability to use reprocessed materials would improve considerably. If we could then apply those principles, our efforts to process and recycle waste would be significantly more efficient and cost-effective. Practical Handbook of Processing and Recycling Municipal Waste provides all of the information necessary for vastly improving the way we recycle materials. It first develops basic engineering and scientific theories related to processing and recycling municipal waste. The authors then show how the behavioral characteristics of waste can actually be predicted with some degree of accuracy, hence turning waste disposal engineering from a matter of guesswork into a science. From Europe to the United States to the Far East, humankind understands the need for - and the challenges of - recycling and reusing waste. This handbook is the guide to successful, efficient waste processing and reuse.
