Report of the Director of the Mint Upon the Production of the Precious Metals in the United States During the Calendar Year 1901 (Classic Reprint) by United States Mint Pdf

Excerpt from Report of the Director of the Mint Upon the Production of the Precious Metals in the United States During the Calendar Year 1901 The total product of the precious metals reported by mint officers and agents in the foregoing table somewhat exceeds either of the above calculations of this Bureau, the difference between this total and the lower of the two estimates being per cent for gold and per cent for silver. A difference between the two sets of figures is naturally to be expected, inasmuch as they do not relate to the same thing, the figures reported by mint officers and agents representing the estimated fine contents of the ore, whereas the estimates of this Bureau deal with the finished product only. That the calculations of this Bureau, nevertheless, approximate very closely the results Obtained from the mines by mint Officers and agents in'the several States and Territories vouches for the practical accuracy of the estimates. Excerpt from Report of the Director of the Mint Upon the Production of the Precious Metals in the United States During the Calendar Year 1883 Sir: I have the honor to submit herewith my report upon the pro duction of gold and silver in the United States during the calendar year 1883. The information obtained from the officers and records of the mints and assay offices, and by inquiries and investigations ema nating from those institutions, as well as this office, to ascertain the amount and character of the bullion produced in the various mining districts of the United States, has been supplemented by special returns direct to this Bureau from express and railroad companies, from the owners, managers, or superintendents of mines, mills, and smelting and refining works, and bankers, dealers, and exporters of bullion, and their several statements have been carefully compared and tested, and the general conclusions derived as to the amount of gold and silver obtained from the mines in each State and Territory, and the several counties and districts, are embodied in this report. The completion of the work has been somewhat delayed by the sud den death of Dr. Frederick Eckfeldt, Who had been assigned to the special charge of the collection and compiling of statistics relating to production, and for the last three years had ably assisted in this branch of othee labor, and whose ability, accuracy, and discriminating judg ment are evidenced in many valuable tables prepared by him for the precedin g volumes and interesting reviews of mining regions which he had visited, and With Which he was familiar. Report of the Director of the Mint Upon the Production of the Precious Metals in the United States: During the Calendar Year 1907 (Classic Reprint) by Frank A. Leach Pdf

Excerpt from Report of the Director of the Mint Upon the Production of the Precious Metals in the United States: During the Calendar Year 1907 Alaska - The yield Of gold from this Territory was a disappoint ment, as the total only reached or over two and three quarter million dollars less than for the previous year. The causes given for this shrinkage are cited in the previous pages Of this report. The production of silver shows a corresponding reduction. This is due to the fact that about all the silver recovered in Alaska is that alloyed with the gold produced from the mines. Alaska possesses vast possibilities as a producer of precious metals and will certainly remain on the list Of big producers for years to come.
