Development of Water Resources in India by Vikas Garg,Vijay P. Singh,Vijay Raj Pdf

This proceedings volume, with more than 30 chapters, is based on the presentations given at the National Conference on Water Resources and Hydropower (WRHP-2016) and represents the state-of-the-art in water resources in India. It includes experimental investigations, field studies, theoretical developments, numerical methods, as well as engineering achievements in water resources. The contributions are organised under four main topics: • Water Resources and Management: covers the issues related to water resources planning and management, water conservation, flood mitigation, policies and governance, conflict over rivers and planning of groundwater evolution, Assessment of Sedimentation, Surface water quality, Rainfall assessment, • Climate Change and Global Warming: includes chapters on the impact of climate on water resources and groundwater, hydrological impacts of climate change, Ground Water Contaminants, Assessment of Evaporation and evapotranspiration effects on global warming • Hydraulic Structures: presents contributions on fluvial hydraulics, flow through Weirs, Open Channel flow, river flood control, scour and erosion, dam and dowstream block failures and protection, Losses in pipes By combining these topics, the book provides a valuable resource for practitioners and researchers, including field engineers, academicians, planners, health specialists, disaster managers, decision makers and policy makers engaged in various aspects of water resources and hydropower. The WRHP-2016 was organised in association with the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, Uttrakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited and the Indian Society for Hydraulics, Pune and was held in University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Dehradun, India from June 17-18, 2016.

Methods and Models for Assessing Energy Resources by Michel Grenon Pdf

Methods and Models for Assessing Energy Resources covers the proceedings of the First IIASA Conference on Energy Resources, held on May 20-21, 1975. This book mainly focuses on energy resources, such as coal, oil and natural gas, and uranium resources, and the assessment of these resources. This text first discusses general activities and classification of energy resources, including the institutions involved, problems faced, and opportunities. This book then explains the methods for assessing petroleum resources. This text devotes two parts, each explaining two energy resources—coal and uranium. This book concludes by explaining the need to further the research and study of this subject. This publication will be invaluable to students and experts in the field of chemistry, particularly engaged in the study of energy resources. Sectors and industries mainly dependent on energy resources will also find this book of significance.

Primer on Enhanced Oil Recovery by Vladimir Vishnyakov,Baghir Suleimanov,Ahmad Salmanov,Eldar Zeynalov Pdf

Primer on Enhanced Oil Recovery gives the oil and gas market the introductory information it needs to cover the physical and chemical properties of hydrocarbon reservoir fluids and rock, drilling operations, rock-fluid interactions, recovery methods, and the economy of enhanced oil recovery projects. Beginning with introductory materials on basic physics and oil-rock interaction, the book then progresses into well-known types of EOR, such as gas injection and microbial EOR. Other sections cover hybrid EOR, smart water/low salinity and solar EOR. Worldwide case study examples give engineers the go-to starting point they need to understand the fundamentals of EOR techniques and data. Discusses basic physics and chemistry in oil, oil-rock interaction, variation of oil, and interaction properties with temperature Helps readers understand why and when EOR can be used Includes data on EOR implementation and economics

The Petroleum Resources of Indonesia by Ooi Jin Bee Pdf

THE quadrupling of oil prices within a few months in late 1973 and early 1974 brought to an abrupt end the era of inexpensive oil. Since then the continuing increases in the price of oil traded in the international market and the higher prices of imports of manu factured goods have seriously disrupted the foreign exchange balances of many developing countries and forced them to replan their development programmes. The impact of high oil prices is felt in every country, whether developed or developing, and has brought to world attention the fact that not only are petroleum resources in limited supply and exhaustible but also that substitutes cannot be found easily or quickly. In a world faced with the certainty of declining supplies of petroleum there is widespread interest and concern among all the oil producing countries to evaluate the extent of their petroleum resources and to examine more closely the problems of their development, rates of depletion and methods of conservation. The present work reviews some of the above issues and problems in relation to Indonesia, an OPEC member, and the major oil producing country in South-East Asia. More specifically, it seeks to provide the reader with an overview of the petroleum resources of the country their nature, extent, distribution as well as the problems of their development.

OECD Regional Development Studies Regional Innovation in Piedmont, Italy From Innovation Environment to Innovation Ecosystem by OECD Pdf

To make the most of its longstanding tradition of manufacturing and innovation, Piedmont, Italy, is undertaking a process of industrial transition, the success of which may be linked to an updated approach to its regional innovation policy. This should include promoting technology and non-technology driven innovation, building the innovation competences of micro- and small enterprises in addition to medium and large ones, better connecting regional innovation actors, and ensuring that innovation contributes to the region’s broader development goals such as sustainable regional development.

Overconfident by Roberta Gatti,Daniel Lederman,Rachel Yuting Fan,Arian Hatefi,Ha Minh Nguyen,Anja Sautmann,Joseph Martin Sax,Christina Wood,Sultan Abdulaziz Alturki,Claudio Jeremias Rojas Pdf

Overconfident: How Economic and Health Fault Lines Left the Middle East and North Africa Ill-Prepared to Face COVID This report examines the region’s economic prospects in 2021, forecasting that the recovery will be both tenuous and uneven as per capita GDP level stays below pre-pandemic levels. COVID-19 was a stress-test for the region’s public health systems, which were already overwhelmed even before the pandemic. Indeed, a decade of lackluster economic reforms left a legacy of large public sectors and high public debt that effectively crowded out investments in social services such as public health. This edition points out that the region’s health systems were not only ill-prepared for the pandemic, but suffered from over-confidence, as authorities painted an overly optimistic picture in self-assessments of health system preparedness. Going forward, governments must improve data transparency for public health and undertake reforms to remedy historical underinvestment in public health systems.

Conventional Oil Resources of Western Canada by J. A. Podruski,Geological Survey of Canada Pdf

Estimates of remaining conventional light and medium oil potential prepared in 1986 by the Geological Survey of Canada, based upon extensive geological, technical and statistical analysis of both present production areas and regions still to be fully explored. This information is used to develop an estimate of future resources expressed in terms of probability. An economic analysis determines the relationship between the wellhead price of oil and the long-term profitability of the undiscovered resources under a set of technical, cost and fiscal assumptions.
