Electronic Design Automation for IC Implementation, Circuit Design, and Process Technology by Luciano Lavagno,Igor L. Markov,Grant Martin,Louis K. Scheffer Pdf

The second of two volumes in the Electronic Design Automation for Integrated Circuits Handbook, Second Edition, Electronic Design Automation for IC Implementation, Circuit Design, and Process Technology thoroughly examines real-time logic (RTL) to GDSII (a file format used to transfer data of semiconductor physical layout) design flow, analog/mixed signal design, physical verification, and technology computer-aided design (TCAD). Chapters contributed by leading experts authoritatively discuss design for manufacturability (DFM) at the nanoscale, power supply network design and analysis, design modeling, and much more. New to This Edition: Major updates appearing in the initial phases of the design flow, where the level of abstraction keeps rising to support more functionality with lower non-recurring engineering (NRE) costs Significant revisions reflected in the final phases of the design flow, where the complexity due to smaller and smaller geometries is compounded by the slow progress of shorter wavelength lithography New coverage of cutting-edge applications and approaches realized in the decade since publication of the previous edition—these are illustrated by new chapters on 3D circuit integration and clock design Offering improved depth and modernity, Electronic Design Automation for IC Implementation, Circuit Design, and Process Technology provides a valuable, state-of-the-art reference for electronic design automation (EDA) students, researchers, and professionals.

Robust Engineering Designs of Partial Differential Systems and Their Applications by Bor-Sen Chen Pdf

Most systems in science, engineering, and biology are of partial differential systems (PDSs) modeled by partial differential equations. Many books about partial differential equations have been written by mathematicians and mainly address some fundamental mathematic backgrounds and discuss some mathematic properties of partial differential equations. Only a few books on PDSs have been written by engineers; however, these books have focused mainly on the theoretical stabilization analysis of PDSs, especially mechanical systems. This book investigates both robust stabilization control design and robust filter design and reference tracking control design in mechanical, signal processing, and control systems to fill a gap in the study of PDSs. Robust Engineering Designs of Partial Differential Systems and Their Applications offers some fundamental background in the first two chapters. The rest of the chapters focus on a specific design topic with a corresponding deep investigation into robust H∞ filtering, stabilization, or tracking design for more complex and practical PDSs under stochastic fluctuation and external disturbance. This book is aimed at engineers and scientists and addresses the gap between the theoretical stabilization results of PDSs in academic and practical engineering designs more focused on the robust H∞ filtering, stabilization, and tracking control problems of linear and nonlinear PDSs under intrinsic random fluctuation and external disturbance in industrial applications. Part I provides backgrounds on PDSs, such as Galerkin’s, and finite difference methods to approximate PDSs and a fuzzy method to approximate nonlinear PDSs. Part II examines robust H∞ filter designs for the robust state estimation of linear and nonlinear stochastic PDSs. And Part III treats robust H∞ stabilization and tracking control designs of linear and nonlinear PDSs. Every chapter focuses on an engineering design topic with both theoretical design analysis and practical design examples.

Robust Control System Design by Chia-Chi Tsui Pdf

This book presents a synthesized design principle versus the existing separation principle of modern control theory of over six decades since the start. Guided by this new principle, a generalized state feedback control can be designed based on the parameters of observer and for a great majority of plant systems, and the robust property of this control can be fully realized. The robust property of the existing state feedback control which is designed separate from the parameters of its realizing observer, cannot be realized for a great majority of plant systems. By freely design and adjust the observer order, the corresponding generalized state feedback control can unify completely the existing state feedback control and static output feedback control, and can adjust effectively the tradeoff between performance and robustness. This generalized state feedback control can assign eigen-structure, and can improve performance and robustness far more effectively than the control designed using classical control theory. Equally significant, the results of this book are very simple that can be comprehended and grasped very easily. These results are introduced and illustrated from the basic level, and use only the basic mathematical tools. Ample examples and exercise problems that can be solved by hand computation, are provided. This third edition made substantial improvement on this aspect. Modern control theoreticians only formulated the feedback control design problem in various ways, the point however is to really solve this problem.

Robustness Theory and Application by Brenton R. Clarke Pdf

A preeminent expert in the field explores new and exciting methodologies in the ever-growing field of robust statistics Used to develop data analytical methods, which are resistant to outlying observations in the data, while capable of detecting outliers, robust statistics is extremely useful for solving an array of common problems, such as estimating location, scale, and regression parameters. Written by an internationally recognized expert in the field of robust statistics, this book addresses a range of well-established techniques while exploring, in depth, new and exciting methodologies. Local robustness and global robustness are discussed, and problems of non-identifiability and adaptive estimation are considered. Rather than attempt an exhaustive investigation of robustness, the author provides readers with a timely review of many of the most important problems in statistical inference involving robust estimation, along with a brief look at confidence intervals for location. Throughout, the author meticulously links research in maximum likelihood estimation with the more general M-estimation methodology. Specific applications and R and some MATLAB subroutines with accompanying data sets—available both in the text and online—are employed wherever appropriate. Providing invaluable insights and guidance, Robustness Theory and Application: Offers a balanced presentation of theory and applications within each topic-specific discussion Features solved examples throughout which help clarify complex and/or difficult concepts Meticulously links research in maximum likelihood type estimation with the more general M-estimation methodology Delves into new methodologies which have been developed over the past decade without stinting on coverage of “tried-and-true” methodologies Includes R and some MATLAB subroutines with accompanying data sets, which help illustrate the power of the methods described Robustness Theory and Application is an important resource for all statisticians interested in the topic of robust statistics. This book encompasses both past and present research, making it a valuable supplemental text for graduate-level courses in robustness.
