Run Right Now by Joe Henderson Pdf

Run Right Now. These three little words imply three different meanings. “Right now” can mean correctly, immediately or temporarily. The title can represent running the right way. Not that I have a corner on absolute truths, but the book represents the best ways to run that I know, based on long experience. The title also can stand for running right away. Even as an author I say, don't spend too much time reading and planning and analyzing. I'd love to hear that a runner read one page and was moved to drop the book and go run right now. And finally the title can mean running right for now. Current practices change along with interests and abilities. This book is a memoir of lessons learned in a lifetime of running and writing about it. These chapters can't protect you from making any mistakes of your own. My hope is that you'll make fewer than I did, that you'll learn these lessons faster and that they'll take you farther than I've gone with them.

Run Right Now Training Log by Joe Henderson Pdf

(from the Introduction) The Run Right Now Training Log holds a year's worth of runs. One day's report is like one step in a long run. By itself it doesn't tell you much. But over the months, years and decades the days the steps multiply to form a trail that helps you plot your path ahead - and also to see how far you've come. Analyze your results by the month or longer periods. (Forms at the back of this Log help you do that.) Judge from your records what does and doesn't work. Then use these conclusions to write better training and racing plans for yourself instead of trusting another writer to do that for you. Also use the Log as a place to remember and reflect. Write a book that you can open later to any page and call that day back to life. Capture here and now the experiences that otherwise would be as fleeting and invisible as footsteps on a dry street.

Run for Something by Amanda Litman Pdf

The must-have guide for young progressives looking to run for local office, complete with contributions from elected officials and political operatives. You’ve been depressed since the night of November 8, 2016. You wore black to work the next morning. You berated yourself for your complacency during the Obama years. You ranted on Twitter. You deleted Twitter. You sent emails to your friends saying, “How can we get more involved?” You listened to Pod Save America. You knitted a pussyhat. You showed up to the Women’s March on Washington. You protested Donald Trump’s executive orders. You called your congressman. You called other people’s congressmen. You set up monthly donations to Planned Parenthood and the ACLU. You reactivated Twitter (begrudgingly). Here’s what you do next: Run for something. To be specific: Run for local office and become the change you want to see in the world. Forget about Congress. Forget about the Senate. Focus on the offices that get the real sh*t done: state legislatures, city councils, school boards, and mayors. It doesn’t matter if you’re not a white man over sixty with an Ivy League law degree. (In fact, it’s better if you’re not!) It doesn’t matter if you don’t understand the first thing about running for office, or never even imagined you would. That’s what this book is for. Amanda Litman, experienced in hard-fought state and national election campaigns, is here to give you guidance as well as wisdom and insight from elected officials and political operatives she interviewed for this book. There are half a million elected officials in the United States. Why can’t you be one of them?

Class Reunion by Lois Weis Pdf

Noted scholar Lois Weis first visited the town of "Freeway" in her 1990 book, Working Class Without Work. In that book we met the students and teachers of Freeway's high school to understand how these working-class folks made sense of their lives. Now, fifteen years later, Weis has gone back to Freeway for Class Reunion. This time her focus is on the now grown-up students who are, for the most part, still working class and now struggling to survive the challenges of the global economy. Class Reunion is a rare and valuable longitudinal ethnographic study that provides powerful, provocative insight into how the lives of these men and women have changed over the last two decades--and what their prospects might be for the future.

Seeking revenge for the death of a friend ten long years ago, Major Jake Nanden has pursued his own personal demons with an almost religious fervour through life and through battle. He is a soldier so highly decorated for bravery that his fame reaches far beyond the desolate Jupiter moon, Io, where his battalion is stationed. His victories in the Jupiter Wars are hollow though, for he is a man scared of his own soul. His life seems to be a trap from which he cannot escape. His is the Replicant Company, and replicants, or clones, are despised by all. Book 2: Unknown Place, Unknown Universe Three rookie space cadets crash on an unknown planet with aliens hot on their tail! While a dissident alien scientist struggles to control time, he discovers that his wife will betray him. His favourite student discovers a way to see into the past but find himself surrounded by enemies in a complex, fragmenting culture. Meanwhile, Stone, douchebag son of Iron Cross winner Jake Nanden, a nerd and a feminist from the Space Fleet Academy crash-land on an unknown planet after falling through a worm-hole in this gripping and visionary science fiction thriller. Called Anubians by humans, the jackal-headed aliens are now revealed as Ischians but they are hiding something on this unknown planet in an unknown universe. Stone's world is shattered while he tries to escape and warn Earth of danger. Book 3: Worlds Like Dust Domes now cover Earth's big cities and soon a force field will trap Earth inside! The jackal-headed Ischians are here! When General Jake Nanden retired from the USAC, he could never have guessed that his greatest battle was still to come. Since then, he has joined a spiritual cult called the Blue Path, trying to establish communication with a few peaceful Ischians. But now his world has been torn apart; his wife and youngest son have been killed, probably his eldest too and the Los Angeles and Washington citizens sweat it out under inescapable alien domes. His son, Stone, warned him of the invasion and he joined up with Gary Enquine to form a rudimentary resistance network. Now, they must find a way to rise up and defeat the conquerors of Earth! Nanden must escape and unite the remaining human and clone forces, scattered across the Solar System. Likened to a cross between Blade Runner and Paths of Glory, you simply must read this beautifully constructed, intensely dark and powerful Science Fiction thriller Series, if you love Phillip K. Dick and Isaac Asimov. Character interview with Jake Nanden. Name (s): Jake Nanden Age: 34 Please tell us a little about yourself. I am 5'11', dark hair, short - Army cut, slightly curly. Green eyes. Describe your appearance in 10 words or less. Getting middle aged, slightly paunchy with drying skin - like paper in places - except my mech arm. That's synthetic skin on there and as smooth and supple as the day it was sprayed on. I even had mine tattooed but don't tell anyone. Would you kill for those you love? I kill every day - most days - to keep my culture intact. I would say that is killing for those I love. Of course there is a moral code... And as a soldier the moral code is almost everything. After a while... killing... it sometimes seems to be the only thing you have left. Family are too far away. 80/20 Triathlon by Matt Fitzgerald,David Warden Pdf

A breakthrough program for triathletes -- beginner, intermediate, and advanced -- showing how to balance training intensity to maximize performance -- from a fitness expert and elite coach. Cutting-edge research has proven that triathletes and other endurance athletes experience their greatest performance when they do 80 percent of their training at low intensity and the remaining 20 percent at moderate to high intensity. But the vast majority of recreational triathletes are caught in the so-called "moderate-intensity rut," spending almost half of their time training too hard--harder than the pros. Training harder isn't smarter; it actually results in low-grade chronic fatigue that prevents recreational athletes from getting the best results. In 80/20 Triathlon, Matt Fitzgerald and David Warden lay out the real-world and scientific evidence, offering concrete tips and strategies, along with complete training plans for every distance--Sprint, Olympic, Half-Ironman, and Ironman--to help athletes implement the 80/20 rule of intensity balance. Benefits include reduced fatigue and injury risk, improved fitness, increased motivation, and better race results.

The Cultural Encyclopedia of Baseball, 2d ed. by Jonathan Fraser Light Pdf

More than any other sport, baseball has developed its own niche in America’s culture and psyche. Some researchers spend years on detailed statistical analyses of minute parts of the game, while others wax poetic about its players and plays. Many trace the beginnings of the civil rights movement in part to the Major Leagues’ decision to integrate, and the words and phrases of the game (for example, pinch-hitter and out in left field) have become common in our everyday language. From AARON, HENRY onward, this book covers all of what might be called the cultural aspects of baseball (as opposed to the number-rich statistical information so widely available elsewhere). Biographical sketches of all Hall of Fame players, owners, executives and umpires, as well as many of the sportswriters and broadcasters who have won the Spink and Frick awards, join entries for teams, owners, commissioners and league presidents. Advertising, agents, drafts, illegal substances, minor leagues, oldest players, perfect games, retired uniform numbers, superstitions, tripleheaders, and youngest players are among the thousands of entries herein. Most entries open with a topical quote and conclude with a brief bibliography of sources for further research. The whole work is exhaustively indexed and includes 119 photographs.

Wearing the Rancher's Ring by Stella Bagwell Pdf

If it weren't for the ring... ...rancher Clancy Calhoun and Olivia Parsons might be able to pull off their "cool acquaintances" routine. They might be able to convince the world that they just knew each other in passing, enough to say hello and be on their way. Or at least they might be able to convince themselves. But all those years ago, they had been the whole world to each other--and he'd given her a diamond ring to prove it. Now, ten years later, Olivia is back at the Silver Horn, and she and Clancy are sure they can be in each other's company without falling apart--or worse yet, falling into each other's arms. Because if the ring goes back on her finger, this time it's never coming off!
