Have you ever wondered why dogs are considered ‘man’s best friend?’ In this book, Psychologist Dr Christopher Blazina explains the importance of the unique bond between men and dogs. There are widely-held beliefs that males naturally transition into a state of self-imposed seclusion and emotional detachment in adulthood. Even relying on another person violates the rules of being a man. When Man Meets Dog explores how the bond with animal companions bypasses many of these barriers, helping males develop into happier, healthier men. What a difference a dog can make! It’s also important to discuss the other side of attachment: loss. Again, the mixed messages men receive lead to difficulties with managing grief. When Man Meets Dog is the first book to discuss men’s continuing bonds with a lost animal companion. A continuing bond is a new way of reconnecting and preserving the memory of this unique connection. When Man Meets Dog is a memoir with a purpose. Chris shares his very personal story of how two shelter dogs not only changed the direction of his life, but also how he defines what it means to be a man.

Sadie Miller didn't know what to expect when her family left Ohio for the small Montana Amish settlement—certainly not horse thieves, mysterious men, or her family falling apart. Can Sadie find her place in this wild, Western community, far from the familiar—and discover love along the way? Wild Horses, Book 1: Sadie Miller is adjusting to life at Aspen East Ranch when Ezra appears. Perfect in every way and fully intending to marry Sadie, Ezra seems like a dream, but does Sadie love him? And who is this fascinating Mark who helps to rescue a dying horse and shows up at the Amish hymn-sing, though he is English? Now Sadie's own close-knit family is falling apart. Mam claims her head is cluttered and unclear. The worst part is, Dat refuses to acknowledge Mam's struggles. Sadie finds some refuge in Nevaeh, a black-and-white paint. But when a dreadful accident involving wild horses occurs, Sadie must move forward into the unknown. Keeping Secrets, Book 2: There's horse trouble in Montana again. Only this time, horses aren't being stolen, they're being shot. No hard-working ranch horse or Amish horse and buggy is safe. Sadie's heart is still set on Mark, despite warnings from concerned friends. Then Daniel appears—a visitor from Lancaster County. With cornflower-blue eyes and a strong, square jaw, he is everything that Mark is not. Why, Sadie wonders desperately, are there so many secrets? The Disappearances, Book 3: Sadie may be married now, but she's as spirited as ever. Soon after she and Mark are settled into the farmhouse, she's visited by three FBI agents who question her about the two children who mysteriously appeared one day at the Ranch. Before the agents leave, they warn Sadie that her beloved horse, Paris, is highly valuable, and that she and Mark may be in grave danger. This news, on top of Mark's unexpected black moods, leaves Sadie confused and disillusioned. Mercifully, healing and courage reappear in unexpected times and places in this concluding volume of the Sadie's Montana series. Saving Sadie by Joal Derse Dauer,Elizabeth Ridley Pdf
This memoir of an injured dog’s rescue and rehabilitation is “an uplifting story with tremendous heart. I couldn't put it down” (Helen Brown, international bestselling author of Cleo) Joal Derse Dauer was donating blankets at a local no-kill animal shelter when an injured and despondent dog caught her eye. With three “fur babies” already at home, Joal wasn’t looking to adopt another dog. But there was something special about Sadie . . . Having just barely survived multiple gunshot wounds, nobody thought Sadie would have much of a life. But with patience, hope, and plenty of love, Joal saw her canine companion grow in strength and joy. Before long, she discovered that sweet Sadie had transformed her life in ways she never could have imagined. Joyous and inspiring, Saving Sadie is “a triumphant tale of second chances that shows how patience, hope, compassion and love can truly transform lives” (Modern Dog).
My name is Les Slaten. I'm 49 years old and am medically retired. I love raising Labrador Retrievers for hunting ducks and geese and being a good family pet. I live in Alton Illinois and have hunted Jersey and Calhoun counties all my life. There are state controlled hunting areas in this part of the country that are very good hunting places. I have just finished the 2002 duck season, which I hunted almost every day without a dog. My other dog Jazz had seven puppies on November 5th, 2002 so I couldn't take her with me as she was nursing her puppies. One yellow female died in the cold and I buried her with Sadie. We called her Jazzs Little Angel. Everyday I went hunting I could see their graves and when I drove by Id always say Hi Sadie! Hi Angel! I brought home 40 ducks and one goose and didnt use a dog to hunt with the whole season except for 2 days. I would joke and say I sent 40 ducks and one goose to play with Sadie. I ate all of them for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners and other times, and I took some ducks to the local bar I frequent, Wayne Allens, to feed my friends duck and dressing on Super Bowl Sunday and other days also. So now as I leave you I hope you sincerely enjoyed my book. I wrote this with so much love and affection for my dog and my loss, it has helped me so much. Who knows!! Maybe Ill write another book!! The name for my next book might be, Sadie 2 A NEW ADVENTURE
