Paul and the Economy of Salvation by Brendan SJ Byrne Pdf

This major contribution to Pauline scholarship by a widely-respected New Testament scholar is the culmination of over forty years of teaching on Paul. Brendan Byrne demonstrates that topics often discussed in Pauline studies and Christian theology go astray when the significance of the last judgment falls from view. Offering a fresh Catholic perspective that engages with centuries of Protestant interpretation, this book recaptures the significance of the motif of the last judgment for the interpretation of Paul.

Assured by Greg Gilbert Pdf

Despite our professions of belief, our baptisms, and our membership in the church, many of us secretly wonder, Am I truly saved? We worry that our love for Jesus isn't fervent enough (or isn't as fervent as someone else's). We worry that our faith isn't strong enough. We struggle through the continuing presence of sin in our lives. All this steals the joy of our salvation and can lead us into a life characterized by legalism, perfectionism, and works righteousness--the very life Jesus freed us from at the cross! But Greg Gilbert has a message for the anxious believer--be assured. Assured that your salvation experience was real. Assured that your sins--past, present, and future--are forgiven. Assured that everyone stumbles. Assured that Jesus is not your judge but your advocate. With deep compassion, Gilbert comforts readers, encouraging them to release their guilt, shame, and anxiety to rejoice in and follow hard after the One who set them free.

Four Views on Salvation in a Pluralistic World by Zondervan, Pdf

Religious pluralism is the greatest challenge facing Christianity in today's Western culture. The belief that Christ is the only way to God is being challenged, and increasingly Christianity is seen as just one among many valid paths to God. In Four Views on Salvation in a Pluralistic World, four perspectives are presented by their major proponents: Normative Pluralism: All ethical religions lead to God (John Hick) Inclusivism: Salvation is universally available, but is established by and leads to Christ (Clark Pinnock) Salvation in Christ: Agnosticism regarding those who haven't heard the gospel (Alister McGrath) Salvation in Christ Alone: Salvation depends on explicit personal faith in Jesus Christ alone (R. Douglas Geivett and W. Gary Phillips) This book allows each contributor to not only present the case for his view, but also to critique and respond to the critiques of the other contributors. The Counterpoints series presents a comparison and critique of scholarly views on topics important to Christians that are both fair-minded and respectful of the biblical text. Each volume is a one-stop reference that allows readers to evaluate the different positions on a specific issue and form their own, educated opinion.

The Deep Things of God (Second Edition) by Fred Sanders Pdf

The doctrine of the Trinity is taught and believed by all evangelicals, but rarely is it fully understood or celebrated. In The Deep Things of God, systematic theologian Fred Sanders shows why we ought to embrace the doctrine of the Trinity wholeheartedly as a central concern of evangelical theology. Sanders demonstrates, engagingly and accessibly, that the doctrine of the Trinity is grounded in the gospel itself. In this book, readers will understand that a robust doctrine of the Trinity has massive implications for their lives, restoring depth to prayer, worship, Bible study, missions, tradition, and understanding of Christianity’s fundamental doctrines. This new edition includes a study guide with discussion questions, action points, recommended reading, and more.

Sons in the Son by David B. Garner Pdf

Rarely Addressed Throughout Church History, the doctrine of adoption has seen fresh attention in recent years. Although valuable, contemporary studies have focused primarily on etymological, cultural, and pastoral considerations, giving little to no attention to vital systematic theological concerns. In this groundbreaking work, Professor David Garner examines the function of adoption in Pauline thought: its relationship to the doctrines of Christ, the Holy Spirit, eschatology, and union with Christ, as well as its primary place among the other benefits of salvation. Adoption frames Pauline soteriology, Garner argues, and defines the Trinitarian, familial context of redemption in Christ, the Son of God. Properly understood, adoption's paradigm-shifting implications extend deep and far. Book jacket.

That God May Be All in All by Ryan L. Rippee Pdf

Christology and Pneumatology have long been major preoccupations for theologians, and rightly so, but the work of God the Father has been surprisingly neglected. Through a biblical and exegetical study of the Father’s person and work (Paterology), this book argues that, among the persons of the Trinity, the Father is the initiator of all divine activity. Furthermore, it is in the context of a loving eternal relationship with the Son and Spirit that the Father has planned and purposed all things, creating through the Son and by the Spirit, promising and accomplishing redemption through the sending of the Son and the Spirit, and perfecting salvation by bringing about a new heavens and new earth through his Son and Spirit. The only proper response is a Trinitarian-shaped life of worship that worships our Triune God.

Salvation Is for You and Your Household by John OGBOJI Pdf

The Book, "Salvation is for you and Your Household" is a timely book. We are in a generation where a father is against his son and the son against his father; a daughter against her mother and the mother against the daughter; a son against his mother and the mother against her son; a sister against the brother and the brother against the sister; the list can continue. The topic is as plain as it is complex. People have also mis -interpreted this topic and needs to be handled with care. To some people salvation becomes automatic once the father or mother becomes saved leading to the controversial issues of infant baptism. People have quoted the section in Acts 10: 48 where Cornelius and his household were commanded to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Similarly while Peter was still speaking, the Holy Spirit fell on the entire household of Cornelius. The argument is that no age limit was given for the house of Cornelius. In biblical parlance, it talks of the redeemer and the redeemed. Here, our rescue operator, Jesus Christ on the mission to rescue us has suffered and lost his own life in exchange for ours. "Just as the son of man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many" (Matthew 20:28). This unmerited love by which the righteous one died for the unrighteous and damned humanity, is salvation. This fallen helpless man cannot even respond to this amazing grace (love) except when sensitized and quicken by the spirit. The answer Paul gave to the Jailer and Peter's instruction on the day of Pentecost defines this salvation. "--------- Sirs, what must I do to be saved? They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved--you and your household". (Acts 16:30-31). "Repent then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, and that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,"------- (Acts 3:19). The reality here is that many families have people who are born again but turn away from their families. That is what Pastor Ogboji is against here. Those are the facts x-rayed in this book. He has done this from two perspectives. The first are those who become born again and feel they do not want to associate with their relatives anymore. The second groups are those who become born again but are still afraid of being killed by their relatives through witchcraft, charm, occultism and other demonic means. The Bible states that Christians are seated far above all rule and authority, power and dominion and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come (Ephesians 1:21).The Bible also states that the Christian is no longer the one that lives but Christ lives in him (Galatians 2: 20). With these two verses and the reality contained therein, Christians have no bases of fear of demons, of witchcraft and in fact, any satanic vice. Christ that we carry inside of us cannot die a second time. Christ that we carry inside of us cannot be oppressed by satanic agents. That is the reality that Pastor John Ogboji has pointed out in this brief and punchy book. It is a must read for all who want to live above fear of demons and satanic forces that has pervaded our generation.

Living in the Balance of Grace and Faith by Andrew Wommack Pdf

Popular Bible teacher and host of the Gospel Truth broadcast, Andrew Wommack takes on one of the biggest controversies of the church, the freedom of God's grace verses the faith of the believer. Wommack reveals that God's power is not released from only grace or only faith. God's blessings come through a balance of both grace and faith. Addressing many of the misconceptions believers are taught in the Church today, this book opens up the Scriptures revealing the vital connection between grace and faith. Many believers think they walk in both grace and faith when actually they are misusing one or both of these principles. Wommack addresses: * Some believers willingly sin believing Gods grace will cover them, while the blessing of grace is not to sin, but to release guilt and condemnation when they make a mistake. * Other believers think they must "work" their faith by ritualistic prayer, confession, or Bible study. Although all these things are good, Jesus Christ set believers free from works of the law. God wants a relationship where He can communicate directly to each believer. * Grace and faith work together. When believers receive the unmerited favor or grace of God, they can release their faith without doubt or reservation and receive God's blessings. Andrew Wommack in his logical, practical style brings believers back on track in their Christian walk through living in the balance of grace and faith.
