Santa's Sweetheart by Janet Dailey Pdf

The delightful and entertaining new holiday novel from the legendary author of dozens of treasured romances! This Christmas, visit the small town of Branding Iron, Texas, where it’s time for the Cowboy Christmas Ball and one irritable sheriff is about to get in the spirit of the season…and find love along the way. Sheriff Sam Delaney is shouldering a lot as the lone lawman in the small Texas town of Branding Iron—and the widowed single father of six-year-old Maggie. Especially since Maggie’s determined that what her daddy needs this holiday season is a girlfriend. Suddenly Sam is hustled off to a meeting with Maggie’s schoolteacher—and surprised to discover the demure Grace Chapman is unexpectedly alluring. Then he’s roped into playing Santa at the annual Christmas ball, with the pretty Miss Grace by his side. It’s enough to make Sam even grumpier than usual—if not for the feelings sweet Grace stirs up inside . . . Grace only wants to heal after her broken engagement. So why is she so charmed by the slow smile—and the surprising tenderness—of the town’s sheriff? Maybe because Grace is discovering that beneath Sam’s gruff exterior lies a heart as big as Texas, especially when it comes to the women in his life—like little Maggie. And now her… Which only has Grace hoping she’ll be Santa’s sweetheart for many seasons to come . . .

Tina, a young girl, was brought up with all the privileges accorded to her by her middle-class family. She was always a rebel fighting for her causes, irrespective of who was hurt in the process. While in college, she fell in love with an Iraqi refugee and gave up everything to be with him. She quit college, converted to Islam, rejected her family, and even changed her name to appease her husband and his family. She returned to Mosul in Iraq for a visit a couple of weeks before ISIS took over. She discovered that her husband was a high-ranking ISIS member with two other wives and a family of his own. She was abused and vilified by him and his family. During her stay, she plotted to escape and eventually succeeded with the help of her husband. She returned to the States with her daughter and two stepdaughters. In the States, she regained her identity and name. She reconnected with her family, but it took a lot of hard work and time to be accepted back into the family fold. She finished her degree from college, adopted her two stepdaughters, and eventually met someone, fell in love, and got married.

Sam's Sweetheart (Classic Reprint) by Helen Mathers Pdf

Excerpt from Sam's Sweetheart Of course there was no woman in the case. The very name of the Camp sufficiently advertised its opinions, while it was composed almost entirely of men who had either flagrantly ill-used, or been themselves wronged by, the opposite sex (their hatred of it in both cases being identical), and with inflexible sternness had hitherto held itself free of encroachment from either the good or bad specimens of womanhood then in the neighbourhood. Women Constructing Men by Sarah S. G. Frantz,Katharina Rennhak Pdf

Female novelists have always invested as much narrative energy in constructing their male characters_heroes and villains_as in envisioning their female protagonists, but this fact has received very little scholarly attention to date. In Women Constructing Men, scholars from Australia, Canada, Germany, Great Britain and the United States begin to sketch the outline of a new literary history of women writing men in the English-speaking world from the eighteenth century until today. By rediscovering forgotten texts, rereading novels by high canonical female authors, refocusing the interest in well-known novels, and analyzing contemporary narrative constructions of masculinity, the contributing scholars demonstrate that female authors create male characters every bit as complex as their male counterparts. Using a variety of theoretical models and coming to an equal variety of conclusions, the essays collected in Women Constructing Men skilfully demonstrate that the topic of female-authored masculinities not only allows scholars to re-read and re-discover almost every novel ever written by a woman writer, but also triggers reflections on a host of theoretical questions of gender and genre. In re-examining these male characters across literary history, these articles extend the feminist question of 'Who has the authority to create a female character?' to 'Who has the authority to create any character?'.
