Scattering of Electromagnetic Waves by a Periodic Surface with Arbitrary Profile by Tommy C.-H. Tong,Thomas B. A. Senior Pdf

Numerical procedures are developed for the digital solution of the integral equations for the current induced on a perfectly conducting, two- dimensional periodic surface of arbitrary profile when a plane electromagnetic wave is incident. By using Floquet's theorem the range of integration is reduced to a single period, and special summation techniques consisting of a Poisson summation and the subtraction of the dc term are used to improve the convergence of the infinite series representation of the Green's function. The integral equations are then solved numerically using the moment method and an interpolation scheme. Data are obtained for both the surface and far fields for a variety of sinusoidal, full-wave rectified, inverted full-wave rectified and triangular profiles for plane waves of either polarization at oblique as well as normal incidence, and the results are compared with the predictions of physical optics.

Bibliography, with Abstracts, of AFCRL Publications from 1 July to 30 September 1972 by Air Force Cambridge Research Laboratories (U.S.) Pdf

This bibliography lists all AFCRL in-house reports, journal articles, and contractor reports issued during the reporting period. The DD Form 1473 (Document Control Data - R & D) for each publication is included. In Part I, the 1473's for in-house reports are arranged numerically by the series in which they were issued: in Part II, the 1473's for journal articles are arranged alphabetically by author; in Part III, the 1473's for contractor reports are arranged alphabetically by corporate author. For cross-reference purposes, an index is included, listing the publications numerically by the AFCRL document number.

Electromagnetic Scattering by Piergiorgio Uslenghi Pdf

Electromagnetic Scattering is a collection of studies that aims to discuss methods, state of the art, applications, and future research in electromagnetic scattering. The book covers topics related to the subject, which includes low-frequency electromagnetic scattering; the uniform asymptomatic theory of electromagnetic edge diffraction; analyses of problems involving high frequency diffraction and imperfect half planes; and multiple scattering of waves by periodic and random distribution. Also covered in this book are topics such as theories of scattering from wire grid and mesh structures; the electromagnetic inverse problem; computational methods for transmission of waves; and developments in the use of complex singularities in the electromagnetic theory. Engineers and physicists who are interested in the study, developments, and applications of electromagnetic scattering will find the text informative and helpful.

Synthetic Aperture Radar Polarimetry by Jakob J. van Zyl Pdf

This book describes the application of polarimetric synthetic aperture radar to earth remote sensing based on research at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). This book synthesizes all current research to provide practical information for both the newcomer and the expert in radar polarimetry. The text offers a concise description of the mathematical fundamentals illustrated with many examples using SAR data, with a main focus on remote sensing of the earth. The book begins with basics of synthetic aperture radar to provide the basis for understanding how polarimetric SAR images are formed and gives an introduction to the fundamentals of radar polarimetry. It goes on to discuss more advanced polarimetric concepts that allow one to infer more information about the terrain being imaged. In order to analyze data quantitatively, the signals must be calibrated carefully, which the book addresses in a chapter summarizing the basic calibration algorithms. The book concludes with examples of applying polarimetric analysis to scattering from rough surfaces, to infer soil moisture from radar signals.

Electromagnetic Scattering of an Arbitrary Plane Wave by Two Non-intersecting Perpendicular Wire Grids by David A. Hill Pdf

A doubly infinite set of linear equations is derived for the currents excited on the pair of planar wire grids by a plane wave of arbitrary polarization. The equations can be solved by perturbation if the two planar arrays are sufficiently separated or by truncation and matrix inversion otherwise. The transmission coefficients are derived including the cross-polarized components, and numerical results are presented to illustrate the effects of various parameters. (Author).
