The Geometry of Schemes by David Eisenbud,Joe Harris Pdf

Grothendieck’s beautiful theory of schemes permeates modern algebraic geometry and underlies its applications to number theory, physics, and applied mathematics. This simple account of that theory emphasizes and explains the universal geometric concepts behind the definitions. In the book, concepts are illustrated with fundamental examples, and explicit calculations show how the constructions of scheme theory are carried out in practice.

An Improved and Robust Anonymous Authentication Scheme for Roaming in Global Mobility Networks by Ahmed Fraz Baig Pdf

Wireless communication systems are extensively used in the current decade. Internet based applications are accessed by mobile networks at any time and from anywhere. Nowadays, roaming in mobile communication has become extremely popular. Mobility is the function that allows a user to move around and, at the same time, stay inside the network. The Global Mobility Network (GLOMONET) plays a very important role in wireless communication. It is a commodious domain which enables a roaming user to access their home mobile services in a foreign country. While traveling, the roaming service assures that our mobile or wireless devices are connected with a network without any breakage of connection. When persons visit some other country they have to use the mobile services. In GLOMONET, the roaming user, being in a foreign country, uses the mobile services with the help of their home country network. Mobile users connect themselves to a foreign network and the foreign network verifies the legality of the mobile user through their home network and home agent. Due to the technological improvements, many security issues have been raised up. Security is the main issue in wireless communication because anyone may intercept the communication at any time. While designing the security protocols for wireless networks, communication and computation costs are very important. The objective of this study is to propose an authentication scheme that has the ability to detect and resist all possible attacks. Formal security analysis and authenticity of proposed thesis is analyzed with BAN logic and ProVerif. Furthermore, the author checked the security of the proposed scheme informally against different attacks.

Ponzi's Scheme by Mitchell Zuckoff Pdf

It was a time when anything seemed possible–instant wealth, glittering fame, fabulous luxury–and for a run of magical weeks in the spring and summer of 1920, Charles Ponzi made it all come true. Promising to double investors’ money in three months, the dapper, charming Ponzi raised the “rob Peter to pay Paul” scam to an art form. At the peak of his success, Ponzi was raking in more than $2 million a week at his office in downtown Boston. Then his house of cards came crashing down–thanks in large part to the relentless investigative reporting of Richard Grozier’s Boston Post. A classic American tale of immigrant life and the dream of success, Ponzi’s Scheme is the amazing story of the magnetic scoundrel who launched the most successful scheme of financial alchemy in modern history.

Crop Insurance schemes in India: Special reference to Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) by Veerabhadrappa Bellundagi ,Hamsa K.R ,Prem Jose Vazhacharickal Pdf

India is an agrarian country, where half of the working population is engaged in agriculture and allied activities, for their livelihood, contributing 15.30 per cent to the country’s GDP in 2015-16. Insurance is a tool, inverse of game theory where losses suffered by few are covered from funds accumulated through small contributions made by many who are exposed to similar risk. The question of introduction of crop insurance in India was taken up for examination soon after independence in 1947. A special study to work out modalities of crop insurance was commissioned in 1947-48. World scenarioA wide range of agricultural insurance schemes based on different approaches exist in the world. The USA is currently the only country where revenue and income insurance exists. Revenue insurance is very important in USA, the 73 per cent of the premiums collected are coming from these types of insurance. In Japan there is a whole-farm insurance which covers against all climatic hazards for all crops on the farm. The Canadian system is mainly led by public insurance agencies, from the provincial governments. Indian scenarioIn 1972-73, the Department of Life Insurance Corporation of India introduced a Crop Insurance Scheme on H-4 cotton. Later many crop insurance schemes were implemented in India. At present, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) was introduced. PMFBY is a crop insurance scheme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi led NDA Government. The scheme has been launched to cater the financial needs of the farmers in the event of crops destroyed by heavy rain, other natural calamities, pests or diseases. The scheme was implemented with a budget of Rs. 17,600 crore. The Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana is new scheme implemented on 1st April, 2016. The scheme is expected to replace the existing schemes like National Agricultural Insurance Scheme (NAIS) and Modified NAIS (MNAIS). The scheme was introduced with a slogan of ‘minimum premium’, ‘maximum insurance’ for farmers. Premium is only one point five per cent for rabi crops, two per cent for kharif crops and five per cent for commercial and horticultural crops.

Higher-Order FDTD Schemes for Waveguides and Antenna Structures by Nikolaos Kantartzis,Theodoros Tsiboukis Pdf

This publication provides a comprehensive and systematically organized coverage of higher order finite-difference time-domain or FDTD schemes, demonstrating their potential role as a powerful modeling tool in computational electromagnetics. Special emphasis is drawn on the analysis of contemporary waveguide and antenna structures. Acknowledged as a significant breakthrough in the evolution of the original Yee's algorithm, the higher order FDTD operators remain the subject of an ongoing scientific research. Among their indisputable merits, one can distinguish the enhanced levels of accuracy even for coarse grid resolutions, the fast convergence rates, and the adjustable stability. In fact, as the fabrication standards of modern systems get stricter, it is apparent that such properties become very appealing for the accomplishment of elaborate and credible designs.

Programming and Meta-Programming in Scheme by Jon Pearce Pdf

A comprehensive first course in Scheme, covering all of its major features: abstraction, functional programming, data types, recursion, and semantic programming. Although the primary goal is to teach students to program in Scheme, this will be suitable for anyone taking a general programming principles course. Each chapter is divided into three sections: core, appendix , and problems. Most essential topics are covered in the core section, but it is assumed that most students will read the appendices and solve most of the problems - all of which require short Scheme procedures. As well as providing a thorough grounding in Scheme, the author discusses different programming paradigms in depth. An important theme throughout is that of "meta-programming", thus providing an insight into topics such as type-checking and overloading which might otherwise be missed.

Analysis and Design of Univariate Subdivision Schemes by Malcolm Sabin Pdf

‘Subdivision’ is a way of representing smooth shapes in a computer. A curve or surface (both of which contain an in?nite number of points) is described in terms of two objects. One object is a sequence of vertices, which we visualise as a polygon, for curves, or a network of vertices, which we visualise by drawing the edges or faces of the network, for surfaces. The other object is a set of rules for making denser sequences or networks. When applied repeatedly, the denser and denser sequences are claimed to converge to a limit, which is the curve or surface that we want to represent. This book focusses on curves, because the theory for that is complete enough that a book claiming that our understanding is complete is exactly what is needed to stimulate research proving that claim wrong. Also because there are already a number of good books on subdivision surfaces. The way in which the limit curve relates to the polygon, and a lot of interesting properties of the limit curve, depend on the set of rules, and this book is about how one can deduce those properties from the set of rules, and how one can then use that understanding to construct rules which give the properties that one wants.

Emissions Trading Schemes under International Economic Law by James Munro Pdf

The announcement by China that it will implement a national emissions trading scheme confirms the status of this instrument as the pre-eminent policy choice for mitigating climate change. China will join the dozens of existing and emerging schemes around the world - from the EU to California, South Korea to New Zealand - that use carbon units (otherwise known as emissions permits or carbon credits) to trade in greenhouse gas emissions in a multi-billion dollar global carbon market. However, to date, there has been no consensus about this pre-eminent policy instrument being regulated by international economic law through the World Trade Organization, international investment agreements, and free trade agreements. Munro addresses this issue by evaluating whether carbon units qualify as 'goods', 'services', 'financial services', and 'investments' under international economic law and showing how international economic law applies to emissions trading scheme in diverse and unexpected ways. Further, by engaging in a comparative assessment of schemes around the world, his book illustrates how and why all emissions trading schemes engage in various forms of violations of international economic law which would not, in most instances, be justified by environmental or other exceptions. In doing so, he demonstrates how such schemes can be designed or reformed in ways to ensure their future compliance.
