Sense and Sensuality by Ravi Zacharias Pdf

WHY versus WHY NOT? Why did God place us in a world full of pleasures if we aren’t meant to pursue them all? In an imaginative dialogue, Oscar Wilde asks Jesus Christ to respond to this question about critical lifestyle choices. Their talk vividly illustrates the arguments for both sensual pleasure-seeking and moral moderation. Playwright, dramatist, poet, critic—Wilde openly defied the mores of Victorian society. His literary repartee fueled an “if it feels good, do it” humanistic philosophy that is still prevalent in the world today. SO WHAT does JESUS SAY?

The New Yoga - Tantra Reborn (the Sensuality & Sexuality of Our Immortal Soul Body) by Peter Wilberg Pdf

What would it be like to know that you are indeed immortal, that your physical body is but the outward form taken by your own eternal inner form or soul body? What would it be like to dissolve the bodily boundaries that seem to separate you from the souls of others, learning to feel your soul in their body and their soul in yours? What would it be like to see and feel your partner as the embodiment of a god or goddess, and to experience the bliss of 'soul body sex' - an intensely sensual intimacy and intercourse with their divine soul body? The New Yoga is a yoga of the soul body - that body with which we can intimately sense, feel and touch others - independently of physical contact. The New Yoga is also 'Tantra Reborn', giving rebirth to the tantric tradition known as Kashmir Shaivism through a wholly new understanding of its sexual symbolism and of 'tantric sex' - seen not merely as a heightening or spiritual elevation of bodily sex, but as an expression of the sublime sensuality and divine sexuality of the soul and its body. 'Tantra Reborn' explains in detail the anatomy, nature and powers of the soul body, its relation to gender and sexuality, to tantric initiation and to the traditional tantric symbolism of 'Shiva-Shakti' and 'Kundalini'. It also offers a practical guide to experiencing the bliss of soul body intercourse through new and original forms of tantric pair and partner meditation.

Sensual Relations by David Howes Pdf

With audacious dexterity, David Howes weaves together topics ranging from love and beauty magic in Papua New Guinea to nasal repression in Freudian psychology and from the erasure and recovery of the senses in contemporary ethnography to the specter of the body in Marx. Through this eclectic and penetrating exploration of the relationship between sensory experience and cultural expression, Sensual Relations contests the conventional exclusion of sensuality from intellectual inquiry and reclaims sensation as a fundamental domain of social theory. David Howes is Professor of Anthropology, Concordia University, Montreal, Quebec.

Facets of Eros by F.J. Smith,E. Eng Pdf

In an age which is supposedly experiencing a sexual revolution, a volume of thoughtful essays on eros is not only not out of place but perhaps is a positive contribution to the understanding of contempor ary man. It was the conviction of the editors that the scientific view of sexuality, as promoted in such valuable studies as those conducted by Masters and Johnson, needed considerable supplement and per spective. The perspective is here furnished by writers from both Europe and America, authors from various fields, such as philosophy, psychology, and even musicology, all of whom are united, in that their approach to the problem of eros is phenomenologically oriented. At first it might well seem strange that musicology would have much to say about eros. It is true, musicology has been the "science" of music, at least in intent. Yet in a larger view of the discipline, philo sophical and aesthetic problems are also important to it, and this particularly if we agree with Enzo Paci, that our very culture depends on eros. Surely musical culture, as pointed out by Kierkegaard, is the embodiment of what western civilization has known as sensuality; and Mozart's Don Giovanni is its incarnation. On the surface it is easier for us to grasp the work of the philosopher in this area; and, of course, one expects the psychologist to deal with sexuality more explicitly than anyone else.

The Contemporary Freudian Tradition by Ken Robinson,Joan Schachter Pdf

This is the first book dedicated to the Contemporary Freudian Tradition. In its introduction, and through its selection of papers, it describes the development and rich diversity of this tradition over recent decades, showing how theory and practice are inseparable in the psychoanalytic treatment of children, adolescents and adults. The book is organized around four major concerns in the Contemporary Freudian Tradition: the nature of the Unconscious and the ways that it manifests itself; the extension of Freud’s theories of development through the work of Anna Freud and later theorists; the body and psychosexuality, including the centrality of bodily experience as it is elaborated over time in the life of the individual; and aggression. It also illustrates how within the Tradition different exponents have been influenced by psychoanalytic thinking outside it, whether from the Kleinian and Independent Groups, or from French Freudian thinking. Throughout the book there is strong emphasis on the clinical setting, in, for example, the value of the Tradition’s approach to the complex interrelationship of body and mind in promoting a deeper understanding of somatic symptoms and illnesses and working with them. There are four papers on the subject of dreams within the Contemporary Freudian Tradition, illustrating the continuing importance accorded to dreams and dreaming in psychoanalytic treatment. This is the only book that describes in detail the family resemblances shared by those working psychoanalytically within the richly diverse Contemporary Freudian Tradition. It should appeal to anyone, from student onwards, who is interested in the living tradition of Freud’s work as understood by one of the three major groups within British psychoanalysis.

Human Posture by John A. Schumacher Pdf

Schumacher has written a provocative work in the philosophy of science. In presenting posture as the most important aspect of life, Schumacher examines how the terms of posture encompass all the major disciplines and provide a means for resolving human dilemmas through a humanistically oriented philosophy of inquiry. He investigates a variety of important philosophical topics: abstract thought, perception, time, space, sexuality, education, and community. Insights into the origins and measures of space and time are especially valuable.

Sense and Sensuality by Sarah Salt,Coralie Hobson Pdf

A lost literary classic, back in print for the first time in 94 years! The story of Richard and Laura, a young, sophisticated, upper middle class, married couple pushing the boundaries of morality in the 1920s London, enjoying the nightlife while leaving their children to be raised by their servants. Richard is a publisher and intellectual, while Laura enjoys the benefits their unspoken "open marriage" to romance other men. But soon their infidelties, and the harsh, inescapable realities of their time, come crashing down on them, threatening to destroy their seemingly perfect lives."With Sense and Sensuality, Sarah Salt takes her place as an arresting and important figure among contemporary English authors. Her deft synthesis of many manners gives her novel a magnificent sweep and pace and at the same time a broad range of overtones." New York Times"A story distinquished from the great body of recent, depressing literature by passion and the gift of a pure, icy style. The author's confirmed genius for feminine analysis places her among the foremost writers of the times." The Boston Globe"The sharp, incisive style etches the story upon the reader's memory." Detroit Free Press"A psychological study of modern marriage, a story distinquished by passion and the author's gift of clear-cut writing.. The dialogue of the book is remarkable, it renders the novel intensely readable. Written with rare skill and originality." Fort Worth Star-Telegram"An exciting tale of emotions of contemporary Londoners, a story breathlessly alacritous for chapters at a time. Salt approaches tragic denounement so lightly, so deftly, incandesence shines always on episodes which the mid-Victorian author would have wrapped in London fog. Sense and Sensuality is hard to lay down if you fancy the modern school of tortured sophisiticates. We feel it gives Sarah Salt a definite standing as a craftsman in staccato prose." Buffalo Times"Salt is hard, swift and brilliant...one rushes through [the book], not dipping and skipping, but devouring. The strain between husband and wife -- the emotion, the unreason, the irascibility, the attraction, the despair -- is done with astonishing vividness." The Observer (London)
