Service-Oriented Mapping by Jürgen Döllner,Markus Jobst,Peter Schmitz Pdf

This book gathers various perspectives on modern map production. Its primary focus is on the new paradigm of “sharing and reuse,” which is based on decentralized, service-oriented access to spatial data sources. Service-Oriented Mapping is one of the main paradigms used to embed big data and distributed sources in modern map production, without the need to own the sources. To be stable and reliable, this architecture requires specific frameworks, tools and procedures. In addition to the technological structures, organizational aspects and geographic information system (GIS) capabilities provide powerful tools to make modern geoinformation management successful. Addressing a range of aspects, including the implementation of the semantic web in geoinformatics, using big data for geospatial visualization, standardization initiatives, and the European spatial data infrastructure, the book offers a comprehensive introduction to decentralized map production. .

SOA Source Book by The Open Group Pdf

Software services are established as a programming concept, but their impact on the overall architecture of enterprise IT and business operations is not well-understood. This has led to problems in deploying SOA, and some disillusionment. The SOA Source Book adds to this a collection of reference material for SOA. It is an invaluable resource for enterprise architects working with SOA.The SOA Source Book will help enterprise architects to use SOA effectively. It explains: What SOA is How to evaluate SOA features in business terms How to model SOA How to use The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF™) for SOA SOA governance This book explains how TOGAF can help to make an Enterprise Architecture. Enterprise Architecture is an approach that can help management to understand this growing complexity.

Objects and Databases by Alan Dearle,Roberto V. Zicari Pdf

AccordingtoFrancoisBancillonandWonKim[SIGMODRECORD,Vol.19,No. 4, December 1990], object-oriented databases started in around 1983. Twen- seven years later this publication contains the proceedings of the Third Inter- tional Conference on Object-Oriented Databases (ICOODB 2010). Two questions arise from this – why only the third, and what is of interest in the ?eld of object-oriented databases in 2010? The ?rst question is easy – in the 1980s and 1990s there were a number of conferences supporting the c- munity – the International Workshops on Persistent Object Systems started by Malcolm Atkinson and Ron Morrison, the EDBT series, and the International Workshop on Database Programming Languages. These database-oriented c- ferences complimented other OO conferences including OOPSLA and ECOOP, but towards the end of the last century they dwindled in popularity and ev- tually died out. In 2008 the First International Conference on Object Databases was held in Berlin. In 2009 the second ICOODB conference was held at the ETH in Zurich as a scienti?c peer-reviewed conference. What is particular about ICOODB is that the conference series was est- lished to address the needs of both industry and researcherswho had an interest in object databases, in innovative ways to bring objects and databases together and in alternatives/extensions to relational databases. The ?rst conference set the mould for those to follow – a combination of theory and practice with one day focusing on the theory of object databases and the second focusing on their practical use and implementation.

Metrics-Based Process Mapping by Karen Martin,Mike Osterling Pdf

Metrics-Based Process Mapping (MBPM) is a tactical-level, visual mapping approach that enables improvement teams to make effective, data-based decisions regarding waste elimination and measure ongoing process performance. The mapping technique, often used to drill down from a value stream map, integrates the functional orientation of traditional swim-lane process maps with time and quality metrics that are essential for designing improved processes. Building on the success of its popular predecessor, Metrics-Based Process Mapping: An Excel-Based Solution, this book takes readers to the next level in understanding processes and process improvement. Included with the book is an interactive macro-driven Excel tool, which allows users to electronically capture their current and future state maps. The tool also audits the maps for completeness, summarizes the metrics, and auto-calculates the improvements. Improvements to this version include: Foundational content about processes—what they are and how they vary A description of the difference between value-stream and process-level maps New content about how to bridge the gap between your current state and your desired future state Tips for effective team formation and mapping facilitation An implementation plan for those using the mapping methodology as a standalone tool and not part of a Kaizen Event The Excel-based tool included on the accompanying CD provides readers with a user-friendly way to electronically archive manually created maps in team settings for easier storage and distribution across your entire organization. While current and future state MBPMs are initially created during team-based activities using butcher paper and post-its, the electronic maps serve as standard work documentation for the improved process, enabling training, communication, and process monitoring activities. This flexible, user-friendly tool includes: A custom toolbar that simplifies map creation and editing Automated calculation of key metrics An audit feature to prevent mapping errors The ability to simulate how improvements will impact staffing requirements System Requirements: The tool is intended for use on PCs using Excel 2003 or later—it will NOT function with earlier versions of Excel, or on Macintosh computers. Design and Implementation of a Service-oriented Information System Architecture Based on a Case Study by Tobias Thiel Pdf

Diploma Thesis from the year 2006 in the subject Computer Science - Commercial Information Technology, grade: 1,3, University of Bamberg, 92 entries in the bibliography, language: English, abstract: In today's companies changes happen very fast. On the one hand more and more new technologies are arising, on the other hand business processes have to change because of mergers and acquisitions, new regularities, changing customer requirements and so forth. As business processes are supported by information technology, information technology has to cope with both types of changes. From a business perspective on-demand adaptation of information technology to business is required. Service-oriented architecture (SOA) is currently discussed as an opportunity to better adapt to those changes.

Online Maps with APIs and WebServices by Michael P Peterson Pdf

The Internet has become the major form of map delivery. The current presentation of maps is based on the use of online services. This session examines developments related to online methods of map delivery, particularly Application Programmer Interfaces (APIs) and MapServices in general, including Google Maps API and similar services. Map mashups have had a major impact on how spatial information is presented. The advantage of using a major online mapping site is that the maps represent a common and recognizable representation of the world. Overlaying features on top of these maps provides a frame of reference for the map user. A particular advantage for thematic mapping is the ability to spatially reference thematic data.
