Shaking Hands with Jesus by Molla Nigatu Pdf

God wants to make intimate relationship with any person. He wants to help him and to touch him. But throughout the Ages, some individuals going astray, want to enjoy life in their own way. So, to please these carnal minded people, authors write about their emotional attraction for women or men, musicians sing about love of men or for women, pornographers show sexual videos, and poets write poetry to explain the madness of men when they love women. Woe! According to the Book of Galatians 5:21, people that do such things shall not inherit the Kingdom of God. Concealing the love of God, they distract man from knowing the compassion of God. But thanks to Apostle John, one of the early Christians and eyewitness of Christ, finding for the meaning of love, tells us that God is love. See 1st John 4:16. Thanks again to Jeremiah the prophet, the mouthpiece of God who lived in the 6th century B.C, for telling us that God is love. See Jeremiah 31:3. The deep prayer of Jesus at the Garden of Gethsemane is one the evidences and monumental witnesses for the compassionate love of God. Here is the story. While Jesus was praying at Gethsemane, and while suffering at Calvary, dropping down His sweat to the ground like drops of Blood, He proves in action that His love for man is beyond explanation. See Luke 22:44 and 23 and Luke 23: 47- 49 respectively. So, let us love our God with our heart, soul, strength, and with our entire mind. See Luke 10:27. Consequently, therefore; when one preaches, teaches and evangelizes, it is good if he talks about God's compassionate love, so that the mind of people would not be distracted from the love of God. God is in the center of everybody. He is at equidistant for everyone. Being in the center, neither He changes His position nor His idea. So, anyone, who wants to make intimate friendship with Him, must come close to Him and show his love for Him. If he does that, God stretches His hands to shake the hands of this individual. To know as many vocabularies as possible that deal about God's love is crucial. Take for example; the word "Vicarious." It is an important word. It means: "Death recognized and approved by God." This is a great compassion. For our salvation, nobody dies, but Jesus. So, there is only one vicarious death, and it is the death of Jesus Christ at Calvary, and because of what Jesus did at Calvary, since time of immemorial, we talk about His vicarious death, resurrection and ascension. Sacrificing His life, getting victory over Satan, removing the wickedness of man and carrying it on His back, Jesus gives us Salvation, righteousness and peace. Hallelujah! According to Matthew 22:36, when people live in accordance to the standards set by God, obey His Commandments, love each other and worship Him with their flesh, soul and spirit, He blesses them. So, to live in accordance with the standards set by our God, let us make inventory of our life. Making inventory of his life, a man of God once said:" I am not for the elephant or for the donkey, but for the Lamb of God. " The decision of this man is great. He decides to serve the Lamb of God. You might as well have your own plan. Observing mine and making inventory of myself, I write this book to help someone make intimate relationship with Jesus. May each of us seek God and carry our Cross to imitate Jesus not by words but by deeds? Molla T. Nigatu

Shaking Hands With God by Dick Bernal Pdf

How much do we know about God? Are we merely supposed to worship God but not know Him? The prophet Isaiah instructs us to, Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near (55:6). Yet how does God, who cannot be seen with the natural eye, relate to humans? God's chosen way of restoring relationship with His creation is covenant. With the book of Genesis as his starting point, Dick Bernal, founding pastor of Jubilee Christian Center in San Jose, CA, creates a vivid portrait of God's redemptive plan for His people by examining covenant as it unfolds through biblical history and into our lives today. Through nearly 30 years of pastoral ministry, Pastor Bernal has discovered that those who understand covenant possess a strong and trusting faith in God, and he has a passion to instill in believers a resounding affirmation of their rightful position in Christ, the ultimate consummation of God's covenant. In this in depth yet accessible exploration of God's agreements with His people, he offers readers a biblical way to understand God's dealings with humanity, and practical, faith-changing principles for applying this fresh understanding to their lives.

A compassionate, shame-free guide for your darkest days “A one-of-a-kind book . . . to read for yourself or give to a struggling friend or loved one without the fear that depression and suicidal thoughts will be minimized, medicalized or over-spiritualized.”—Kay Warren, cofounder of Saddleback Church What happens when loving Jesus doesn’t cure you of depression, anxiety, or suicidal thoughts? You might be crushed by shame over your mental illness, only to be told by well-meaning Christians to “choose joy” and “pray more.” So you beg God to take away the pain, but nothing eases the ache inside. Robinson offers a healthy, practical, and shame-free guide for Christians struggling with mental illness. Healing in Jesus’ Name by Charles C. Koo MD FACP MDiv Pdf

There are many theologies today, but they are irrelevant to daily life and can do nothing about human suffering. These are powerless and empty theologies confined to the brain. Spoken words without power are useless because they do not follow what they preach. Spoken words hand in hand with supporting signs and wonders through obedience are powerful and relevant to daily life. There is only one model for believers. Jesus is the model. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). Jesus is sufficient for us. Only Jesus can fulfill our lives. Jesus is God. His way is Gods way. I do believe that during three years of public ministry, Jesus, the Son of God and our Messiah, showed us everything about what to do and how to do it as we live as believers. All the answers for our lives are in obeying his commands and pleasing him by putting his teachings and demonstrations into practice. Gods word always comes to us in command form: either do it or dont do it. The Bible is a story book of disobedience and obedience. The ultimate obedience is crystallized on the cross of Jesus.

Jesus Girls by Hannah Faith Notess Pdf

Evangelicals are supposed to be experts at telling their story. From an early age you are expected to have a testimony, a story of how God saved you from a life of sin and sadness and gave you a new life of joy and gladness. What happens if you don't have such a testimony? What if your story just doesn't fit the before-and-after mold? What are you supposed to do if your voice is not one usually heard? In these offbeat, witty, and often bittersweet essays, up-and-coming writers tell the truth about growing up female and evangelical. Whether they stayed in the church or not, evangelicalism has shaped their spiritual lives. Eschewing evangelical clichŽs, idyllic depictions of Christian upbringing, and pat formulas of sinner-to-saint transformation, these writers reflect frankly on childhoods filled with flannel board Jesuses, Christian rap music, and Bible memorization competitions. Along the way they find insight in the strangest places--the community swimming pool, Casey Kasem's American Top 40, and an Indian mosque. Together this collection of essays provides a vivid and diverse portrait of life in the evangelical church, warts and all. In Your Eyes I See My Words by Pope Francis Pdf

An extraordinary opportunity to understand the vision of Pope Francis Pope Francis is a first in many ways: the first pope from the Americas, the first Jesuit, the first Francis, the first child of immigrants from the Old World, nurtured and transformed by the New World, and returned to lead the whole world. His eloquent homilies and speeches have inspired the faithful of Argentina for decades, largely through his gift of oratory, tracing back to his time as a bishop, archbishop, and cardinal in his home country. Published in English for the first time in their entirety and with contextual annotations, In Your Eyes I See My Words, Volume 1 collects his homilies and speeches from 1999 to 2004. Volume 2 spans from 2005 to 2008, and Volume 3, from 2009 to 2013, concludes with his prophetic last homily before his election to the papacy. This illuminating collection presents an extraordinary opportunity to understand the vision of a great pastor. His words bear witness to the deep experience of faith among God’s people while also showcasing his own extraordinary ability to connect with communities of faith. Through these homilies and speeches, Pope Francis humbly displays his abilities as a wordsmith, a patient and attentive teacher, an inspired and faithful theologian, and a sensitive pastor uniquely attuned to his people, offering ready guidance for their journeys, but also journeying with them. The first of a three-volume translation of Pope Francis’s theological, pastoral, anthropological, and educational thought provides rich insights into the mind and theological unfolding of a spiritual leader who has become beloved all across the globe. Within it we see Archbishop Jorge Mario Bergoglio—later Pope Francis—ministering to the needs of the people while also engaging with the political, technological, and societal forces affecting their daily lives. Here is an ecclesial voice not afraid to challenge the politicians, the culture-makers, and media moguls—even his own ordained and lay church ministers—to live a life of faithfulness marked by justice, equality, and concern for the needs of everyone, urging all to rely on the “vitality of memory” and the “recovery of hope.” In Your Eyes I See My Words also provides a glimpse into the political, social, and religious environment of Argentina and Latin America, providing a unique perspective on the issues confronting the faithful and how those issues motivated and nurtured Pope Francis’s understanding of the Church’s mission to all segments of society—particularly to those underrepresented and on the margins of history.

Charisma and Community by Mary Jo Neitz Pdf

Since Comte, social scientists have tended to assume that mod苟rnization, along with a trièµ´mphant scientific rationality, has destroyed the legitimacy of religion as a social reality. However, this crisis of legit虹macy has never been examined in a setting where religious real虹ty is affirmed. This book fills that gap, exploring the meaning of religious reality in the lives of a group of Catholic Charismatics to discover how belief is created, developed, and maintained. Charismatics, or Neo-Pentecostals, tend to be white, relaè² ively affluent, well educated, and believe that they possess certain gifts including the power of healing, prophesy, discernè¡«ent of evil spirits, and speak虹ng in tongues. In describing and analyzing this religious minority, the author provides a basis for reevaluating sociological as貞umptions about religion and modernity. She asks: to what exè² ent can religion define the so苞ial world? Are religious values necessarily irrelevant to most institutional contexts? Is re衍igious reality only persuasive in the context of family and priè¡«ary group relations? What are the tensions between religious realities and other beliefs? Her answers have implications for all ways of making sense of the world, including common sense or science. Neitz situates the Charismatic Renewal in a broader social and historical context. She examines the antecedents of Neo-Pentecostalism in American culture and compares this movement with the secular, self-awareness movement. In so doing she shows what is unique about the Charismatics, and what they share with religious prede苞essors and members of contem計orary secular movements.
